I like the minimalist style of the Japanse flag, flags with too much decoration or glamorization remind me of wannabe people, they look superficial.
(And of course, the groundbreaking change they applied right before the millenium is revolutionary!  )

Well, if you look at it on a purely graphical design basis, the swastika is indeed a very elegant and cool image. Too bad it represensts one of the most toxic ideologies in the world since the Nazis picked it up.
And DrakonDeus, better resize that image, it’s screwing up page display.

I liked the old Libyan, purely green one. Other than that the old Greek one with only the cross on blue, the maltese civil ensign,
the proposed fern flag for New Zealand, Luxembourg's "Roude Léiw" flag,
the national flags of Nepal, Scotland, Ukraine, Lebanon, Trinidad and Tobago, Kazakhstan, Kirgiztan, North Macedonia, Estonia,
Greenland, Namibia, Japan and Palau.
And the flag of Amsterdam which looks like the flag of Tomania.
I mostly like simple flag designs without little fine-grained details.
I'd like the flag of Brazil if it had just a blue circle in the center.
In that regard, political views aside, I prefer the flags of "free" Russia/Belarus (blue stripe on white / red stripe on white) over the official national flags.
@Drakon-Deus The swastika flag is mirrored horizontally (in order to circumvent restrictions?).

Nice choices. I'll have to look up the flag of Amsterdam.
I noticed the flag was mirrored but just said "what the heck".

Saudi Arabia easily has the best flag. A scimitar on a green background. Plus Arabic isn't a language. It's an art. Too bad I forget everything I learned.
