I've taken all's I can stand, cause I's can't stands no more...
I wash my hands of this game.
I defended it.
I doubled my RAM to make it play better.
I convinced friends to buy it and try it.
I patched it.
I played it.
I praised it's new strategy and play style.
But this (expletive deleted) game keeps crashing my (expletive deleted) computer. I am sick and tired of fooling myself. I pledge not to play this (expletive deleted) piece of (expletive deleted) until they fix it.
I hear by jump off the H4 bandwagon.
Now where is that H4 haters membership card?

Well, Oldtimer, and the others, I dont really know what computers you have, but, in my computer, it hasnt crashed even once, it didnt crash at all, plus it is not skiping the music and stuff, maybe it is the comp, or maybe it is the copy that I have, and I dont even have the patch... Dont know what to say...

I've patched it.
I have 255 ram
I have 73% free resources
Pentium 3
I have 6 gig remaining on the hard drive.
I have tried cleaning and optimizing but the damn thing keeps crashing and it is just too frustrating to continue.

er... Oldtimer...
I think it's just you... my P3@800MHz with 512MB RAM plays the game flawlessly and my Radeon7000 and SB Live! Pl. make sure all it's features run as smoothly as possible... and I have tried the game both under WinDO$ and under WINE (Linux users know what I mean) ...the game only crashes after 8 hours of play and that is only under Crash_now_OS (you know, M$-DOS with graphics )
btw: I haven't got the patch yet...

I manage to stay relatively crash free on my poor little 650 Duron with 128M RAM.(running WIN98, approx 23 gig still free on my 30 gig hard drive) That wasn't always the case, but on a hunch, I tried shutting all sound off in the game, and it seems to like that. One of these days, I'll mess around with the virtual memory setting to see if I can turn the music back on.

Never crashed on mine, either, and looking at various people's posts, I have a theory on why that is.
It's the version of Windows you have, most people with '98 or '95 seem to have minimal problems. Those with later versions seem to be those who complain about crashes, skipping, slow downs, and so on.

Maybe this can help
My friend had the same problem that you have. His computer crashed after every single turn. He had had the resolution on the best one and when he lowered the resoulution voila! it has never crashed since then! Maybe you have (like my friend) the resolution of the game better than your "normal" resolution. So if you'll lower the resolution of the game or put the normal resolution higher... I hope this would work.

Yes. It must ONLY be you, cause I have (almost) the exact same computer you do.
1,9 GHZ
512 MB DR RAM
60 GB HD
Geforce 2
SB Live
Yeah, so it's probably just you.
But I wonder, you hate the game just because it crashes? Odd...
Hate well

The game never crashed on my computer either. And I have an AMD 1.3 Ghz and the rest I don't know . Are there any things that are the same each time the game crashes? Like does it crash after you start the game, or in a certain month (I had that sometimes with heroes III) or any other similarities? Blablabla...

...I'm no hardware techie or anything, but all I know is that my 4 or 5 year old near piece of junk can run it fine without crashing...it's just kinda slow and then slows down even more as time goes by...
...and on my better thingy that I wager is pretty good, it's only happenned once, probably because I was running downloads and stuff in the background or something...
...I hate to say it, but I think your computer is screwed up

Yeah
What are the stats on your machine, Oldtimer? I have a P4, 1.4 GHz, 5.55GB free, 254 MB RAM, and Windows ME. The game only crashes when I delete an important file when I try to make a mod, or when I put some weird thing in map editor that it doesn't like

You sound like a 12 year old retard. Heroes IV runs fine on 99% systems, even with lower requirements. Sounds like you need to optimize your system

Show a bit more respect. He's been here a long time, contributing and defending the Heroes games. Obviously, something really pissed him off..
It hasn't crashed on me either even before the patch, and my PC sucks. However, I don't play it that much anymore either.. because of time constraints of course

If you really hated it and would like to stop playing, you wouldnīt make a post about it.. you would just slip away and move on.
You posted here because you wanted other people to convince you to play it, by saying things that would make you happy with playing it again. =P
This is a typical call for help, and dont worry Oldtimer.. the other heroes 4 players are here for you
Just donīt go do anything stupid

Oldtimer, you're not the only one
My PC:
128 RAM
~ 15G free HD
1G CPU
and other standard settings
I run win98.
Not patched and maybe never bother to.
Game crashed from time to time. After turn off sound + tune
down the resolution. It gets better but the game is not very interesting in that setting. Finally, I quit it and regret had paid so much so it.
Anyway, with WC starts in June. Who needs h4........for at least quite a moment.
