Oh well italy won, congrats anyway...
Zizu? We can only guess, sofar. But I would guess that Materazzi said something very bad, racist perhaps, and Zidane reacted the way he did...after all we all are just human.

What a way to go.
Yea it is obvious that the Italian player said some kind of smack that caused Zidane to headbutt him & he fell.
Probally faked it .
Anyways Zidane should of been more responsible for a Captain of the team.
France needed him & he probally would of helped in the penalty kicks.
I bet you he will be back next year since he needs to redeem himself

Maybe he said that nothing is sticking out of his shorts.
That will make him really head butt him

Final scores:
Dragon Slayer – 34
Sir Dunco – 32
Lord Pc –32
Ecoris - 33
I got one point for Picking Italy, but i didnt put a bet in for Germany v Portugal.
Sir Dunco got one point for picking Germany.
Lord PC also got one point for picking Germany.
Ecoris got 2 points for picking both Italy and Germany.
These results leave me top by just one point over Ecoris, but there is still the predicted winner and golden boot.
Ecoris gets + 5 for golden boot and he was the only one besides me who did, although my predictions were pretty stupid now that i look back on them. I wish i had watched more of the qualifying matches.
That leaves scores as:
Dragon Slayer – 34
Sir Dunco – 32
Lord Pc –32
Ecoris - 38
Congratulations Ecoric, you know football better than me!

congrats
i was watching the only sports show in australia that has a good piece on "football" (thank heavens for toyota world sports) and zidane said that materazzi said that zidane is a terrorist or his parents are terrorists or something like that
zidane's parents are algerian (i think) so something related to that
and that is why zidane headbutted materazzi

Well Materazzi claims he did insult Zidane but he never said that. Either way, we know who Rooney got his anger problems off

Haha, I actually won ! Just got home today, I wouldn't have thought so when I left about two weeks ago.
BTW does anyone really know what Materazzi said? Or a link qouting Zidane?
His headbutt has already been discussed in the FIFA WC 2006 Germany thread. Surely I will remember that moment when I think of Zidane, but the first thing I think of will always be his winning goal against Leverkusen in the Champions League final 2002.

would now be a good time to mention juve, fiorentina, and lazio's demotion to the serie B?? Juve start 30 points behind, which could mean that they might be spending a couple of seasons in italy's less prestigous arena.. lol and milan start 15 points behind.. FORZA INTER
haha best bit of news ive heard all day, bit sad for italy, considering none of the 4 teams r aloud to participate in champions league or Uefa cup, but im glad as an inter supporter.. i see us having a 15 point buffer over our closest rival, wen three of the stronger teams of Serie A arent there.. How can we lose??

haha yehh bt they are not being given to inter
lol capello their old coach who now is in charge of real madrid is trying to buy them hes put in an offer for cannavaro and some others i think, buffon has been linking with chelsea, but who knows. Juve will try nd contain their squad, arguing that after 1 season of solid wins, they will be back in the league they deserve. However even if they win every game, can they overcome 30 points? im actually not sure how many games etc that are played in the serie b, so i cant argue one way or the other..

Welcome to the 2006/07 European Champions League Last 16 Heroes Community Football Prediction Game
As the ruling champion of HC football prediction (football as in football; not rugby for sissies ) I'll continue the tradition of football prediction games.
There are 16 teams left which leaves 29 matches.
The rules of the game are presented below (and of course they have been designed to favor myself ).
What you have to predict:
- The outcome of each match: Either home team wins, draw or away team win. The result at full time (90 minutes) counts; i.e. extra time and penalty shootouts doesn't. Just as if you bet.
- The winner of Champions League.
Each correct match prediction gives 1 point.
Predicting the winner of CL gives 2 points.
A post that contains predictions must not be edited, if it is it will be ignored. If you wish to change one or more of your predictions make a new post. Predictions must be made before kickoff.
The tournament starts again February 20 with the first leg of the first round knockot phase:
Celtic - Milan
PSV - Arsenal
Lille - Man. United
Real Madrid - Bayern
Roma - Lyon
Barcelona - Liverpool
Porto - Chelsea
Internazionale - Valencia
So far myself and Angelito are the only participants.
The rules are not final so you're welcome to make suggestions.

My prediction is this.
Rooney gets his revenge on Ronoldo in the final by kicking him in the junk.
He then headbutts the ref who red cards him.
As a result Sir Alex Ferguson has a heart attack and dies.
Man U. announces they won't resign Rooney.
Real Madrid announces signs Rooney to the largest contract in the history of the sport.
