In my opinion, Titans are the best.
I know many people will argue, and can probably prove that Arch Angels, Arch Devils, Black Dragons or Gold Dragons are more powerful than Titans. While in the big climactic battle Titans may not be the very best (they are still real contenders though), the chances are that by the time you get to the battle, most of the Titans you have bought will have survived.
They reasoning behind this is that Titans are Ranged attack creatures, while all the other Level 7 creatures are melee attackers.
So if I fly my 7 Black dragons across the battle ground, and toast the enemy's Chaos Hydras, then his Mighty Gorgons, Greater Basilisks etc proceed to destroy my Dragons. If any Chaos Hydras survived, they also get to retaliate against my dragons (obviously if I had of attacked with Arch Devils, any remaining hydras would not have retaliated but the other stacks would still eat my Devils).
I win, but at great cost. If instead, I sit safely on my side of the Battlefield and get my Titan's to zap targets then I get two benefits; first, missile attacks cannot be retaliated against, and second, the number of creatures who can cross the battleground and attack my Titans is small. Enemy missile troops and/or very fast troops will also be targeted by my own spells, and other missile troops, to lessen their ability to cause me damage.
In the huge climactic end of game type battles, the Titans will obviously take casualties, but so would any other Level 7 creatures.
Titans really win because in all the other smaller battles, you are less likely to lose Titans. Have you ever attacked an enemy Town or Hero, and not flown your Dragons etc in to attack because you know that they will then be the target for your enemy's whole army, and you need to keep them for future bigger battles?

Im telling you it all depends yeah I agree but I usally have different groups of Dragons so I can do more Damage and What If the Dragons go for the Titan first then the others move on to a weaker creature. Oh yeah I forgot Titans have a advantage over Dragons hand to hand combat well this will just wait to be discovered whos better but I think Dragons

I think that Titans will win with a strong army behind them because when you out your Black Dragon out in the open the whole army usaully attacks it. But one on one Black Dragons will deystroy Titans

Dissagree!
Any creature will win with a strong army behind them. The best creatures are ones who will win without an extremely strong army behind them, or the ones who create that strong army. Keep these things in mind BlackDragon.

yeah I didnt think about that anybody can win with an army behind them but I thinks its really strenght and strategy to but a great army toghether. How about a battle sometime

You like Blackie ???
I like Titan and think it's the best in h2. 
But it seems that guys in 3do think blackie is better than titan. (coz in high-score calculation, blackie is for higher score than titan in h2) 
Well, I don't think there will be a result for the debate, but I just like titan. (that's why I am not dragonknight but thunderknight........

well i defentinly like Black Dragons over Titans in any version but Titans are great Sharpshoothers and Dragons are just an all out attack so I like them both fairly well

It wouldn`t be 3do, but new world computing who thinks that And if you look in the tavern under best monster, you will see that nwc thinks that (h2) Red dragon is better than titan I`m not sure about green dragon though... And in h3 they think gold dragons are better than titans... Maybe they are, but then why is the titan more expensive???
And another thing, in the rating system, the neutrals really should be in Like azure dragons are best, then crystl then rust then farie and then arch angel...
I got the rating of gold dragon and the score of 394 when I played on expert yesterday, thats pretty good for only playing on expert and not impossible

It's quite difficult to get a really high score if using expert difficulty (I myself can only get a arch-devil rating, but forget the score). It is much easier to get a archangel rating by using impossible setting. (It seems that those 4 new powerful dragons are not included in high score calculation, too bad. Sometimes, it is boring to get the archangel rating. )
In h2, red dragon will NEVER defeat titan under NORMAL circumstances coz red dragon is only fast but titan is very fast and titan is better than RD in all the attributes. I think NWC must have put it wrong or maybe it is just because dragons are more popular than titan ??

You can't just say, who is greatest. In a battle a Black Dragon would surely win, but there are also other units in the battle...You have to combinate the creatures very great!
With a good combination a Titan is better!

I visted that site and Its proves alot of players wrong but I mean Black Dragons are the best and So Is Dungeon and Phoneix are the fastest in the game and Arch Angels can beat the whole list

Dragon/Black Dragon
That's my choice. In HOMM1, they were far and away the best unit in the game. Warlock Town simply dominated that game, thanks to the lineup of shooter, flyer, flyer, walker, walker, flyer, and the Dragon's overwhelming power.
In HOMM2, Titans made their appearance. They wern't qute as good as Black Dagons, which could reach them in one turn. Titans didn't do full damage hand-to-hand in HOMM2, and so they went down before Old Blackey.
In HOMM3, Black Dragons sunk to third place, behind the beefed-up Titan and the new Archangel. BUT:
They're still vastly more cost-efficient than either. BDs cost 5/6 what Titans do and 6 BDs will take down 5 Titans. AAs cost a modified total of 6500 gold in SOD, much more than BDs at 5000. Pound for pound, Black Dragons can still kick some winged arse.

archangels I think
Since I didn't play HOMM 1&2 I don't know about their best creatures, but for HOMM3, definetly archangels. They are very expensive but I like what you get for 5000 1G, 'cause ressurection can be greatly used with clone spell. Besides that they always take max. damage and are very fast with speed of 18. I'll vote for them.

I won't say which 7level creature is the best. All I can say is that the Bone Dragon is my favourite in HoMM2 (why? I usually get it first week . And It's really nice to have 10 bonies while the opponent has 1 blackie). And titans and giants should have some sort of lightening bolt resistance. Cause how the hell their own bolts don't hurt them while they hold them? I know that the last sentence was a little mixed up, but I think that you should know what I mean.
