Magic vs Skills amd Attack
After i played Heroes3 for 1-2 years it comes Heroes4. I've been waiting this for a long time .
As u know in Heroes3 Magic is more important than attack and defence. Skills where li'l but important. After begin to play Heroes4 i saw that i didnt use any Magic finishing 2-3 levels only my heroes Attack make me win those 2-3 levels.
What do u say about this ? Is better Magic than Skiils and Attacks ?

Beg to differ
Just my opinion, but all the magic in the game won't make much difference if the armies are big enough and your opponent has double your attack and defense.
Throw a recanter's, Orb of Inhibition, or PODF into the equation and Might is definitely right.
Just my opinion, though.

will make certain you understand that double stats will crush double army.. PERIOD...

well
"double stats vs double army" doesnt mean anything to me in Heroes 3 since what matters is the difference, not the ratio. A hero with 4 4 4 4 will lose badly agains a hero with 2 2 2 2 and double army, but a hero with 40 40 40 40 will decimate a hero with 20 20 20 20 and double army.
In heroes 4 tho what matters is the ratio, not the difference, so this argument makes more sence.
About might vs magic - as everybody knows the bigger the armies the more might dominates over magic, because direct damage spells are less important. Only chance for magic is summon elements then.

Might verses magic very much depends on the size of the army, as was stated earlier, since you effectively multiply the army by the might stats/bonuses to get the net increase due to the hero.
Much of what a magic hero does is a fixed amount based on power, with the best bet being summon elemental at expert level. But this still is a fixed amount based on power, and does not scale with army size.
Some magic spells do multiply by the army, particularly at expert level, and some of the best ones are level one, like slow, haste, bless, curse, etc. With these spells, power has little relevance; as long as you have at least 4 power so that the spells last 4 turns, that is probably long enough. Knowledge is not very important either, since the spells are cheap. A might hero with an expert level in a magic school can creatly affect the outcome of a battle with these.
One other benefit to the magic hero is mobility spells like town portal, dimension door, and fly. A magic hero may never need to go toe-to-toe with a stronger might hero, and can eventually win by holding more castles for longer and building a larger army. Sure the might hero can take any castle he wants, but while he is moving on to the next castle, a hero with magically enhanced mobility can be taking back the castle and wiping out his secondary heroes.
So if played carefully, and if mobility spells are available, I think the magic hero almost always wins in the long run.

I was talking about heroes 4 , not heroes 3.There the def and attack and defence is greatly influenced by the skills the hero picks and normally every army get a hero with tactics...and then a blind or slow can influence the battle...get it now ?

I still keep my ideea
Magic is powerfull than army in Heroes3 .
Heroes4 Official SUX
If ur in Heroes3 with an expert level in chainlightning [ salomyr ] or smth like that u can kill 1/2 of trops from the 1st magic if u use key "C" u can use magic 2 times-) So think a while -) u cant even touch my trops and ur dead.
About heroes4 i use'd only bless blurr and displacement magic -) but still S.U.X.

..because the thread starter asked about homm4 , and i suggested him to develop 2 heroes for the main army , one with Combat skill and the spells skills that are usefull (i guess you don`t pick death with life )and the other one with tactics , combat and scouting...
as for homm3 of course the attack and def matters more when large armies...this was discussed and over discussed and i don`t think it should be reopened again...

Oae , no offense , but only pronouncing Solmyr and double cast in here is enough for everybody to see your level of knowledge about how to play a multi game, so you better pay attention what people say

It was just an example. If u dont mind i'm able to play with u whenever u want online game.

might vs. magic in homm 4?
not really the best of questions considering you'd be a fool not to have a good dollop of both in your army anyways. You can go ahead and bring one of your fav. type of heroe to the battle but i'll be bringin both!!

take it from my experience
I havent decided whether might or magic is better in homm, I think its well done, in that what you use, is the various skills depending on how you start and what you do. Sometimes you take two heroes as a team, one might and one magic from the same alignment, and use them in tandem combining skills. I think homm4 is great, and its so dynamic.

Depend if ur knowledge is enough good with spells -) knowledge in sens of u know about not knowledge from the game. -) If u know all spells what does and what stand for -) i'm sure u can beat every1 u want -)
