Back in the SNES days...

I really liked this game called Lufia II. And one of the characters was named Iris. And I thought it was pretty. That's it.

You know the game! Yeah, I played both, but not in order. I tend to think of Iris and Erim as two separate entities though.

Erin is the most interesting of the 4 Sinistrals.
She was hidden in her status as a regular being but with great magic powers & aided Maxim in his quest many times.
Mixed feelings for a sinistral at the end, she helped Maxim save his current families hometown where his newborn was but at a highly cost.Maxim & his wife died in that castle.

100 yrs or 90 I forget later in Lufia 1 Erin was ressurected first & she actually was Lufia in the game which was found out later.
She dont remember though.
She was childhood friends with Maxims grandson for many yrs until the sight of the first sinistral.

Personally Erin can ressurect Gades all she wanted, he was a wimp lol.

My countryside house is called "Vīganti" or "Vigants". And in Ancient High German (i dunno if thats correct) "Wigand" means "Warrior".
I spent 80% of my early childhood there, so it's close to me, and the meaning seems appropriate for Heroes.

I have been in the Martial Arts for some time now and my Sensei gave me my fighting name. We study three systems all-originating from Okinawa Japan. When I would start to fight my Sensei would tell me that I would appear to be serene and calm as if nothing could shake me and then I just came for blood. So he had his Sensei from Okinawa write my fighting name on rice paper scrolls and gave it to me for Christmas. My fighting name in Japanese is Gikijohanna, which means violent flower or fighting flower.

Edited by Consis at 05:23, 10 Nov 2006.

It Originates:

Back in the days when I was stationed at Nellis Airforce base in Nevada I went through a life changing ordeal.

I was trained in the special forces in the airforce. The job title was called Pararescue. In this job, where women weren't allowed, men were trained to become a highly skilled rescue medic that would eventually be attached to a ranger unit most likely. Rangers are army special forces for those of you who don't know. Anyway I was trained for three long years on everything from expert marksmanship to nationally certifying under the EMT-Intermediate guidelines. Needless to say the training was intense and the relationship I developed with the men I worked with was very close-knit. Well, after having gone through all that training(in which the airforce claimed it spent over a million dollars to train me) I was sent to Nellis AFB in Nevada as my duty station. Once there I sat around and did nothing but sorties in a chopper. We rarely trained and often just covered the gunnery station on board the UH-60's(military rescue chopper which is considered the most reliable and sturdy rescue chopper in the world). Well as we sat around basically wasting our time with nonsensical b.s. I decided to try and persue alternate career options. I decided I wanted to be a performer in the Airforce's TOPS in BLUE performing squadron. I was trying for singing, dancing, and stand-up comedy. I was very interested in anything in performing. Well as all things in the military any job or career change requires some top signatures to make it happen. It came as no surprise to me when my commander denied me the request to join TOPS IN BLUE. I was told my job was already under-manned and they couldn't afford to lose me in this career field. On top of all that I was married at the time. I was 21 years old and my marriage was a horrible disaster. After I was denied the opportunity to join the performers two things happened that sunk my ship to the bottom of the sea. First, my wife decides to divorce me and second, a boulder crushes every bone in my right ankle. The injury to my foot effectively put me out of commission for doing what little responsibilites I already had in my job. The divorce was the worst thing that has ever happened to me. Well....it wasn't long after that I tried to kill myself by bleeding to death in a tub. The thing is I didn't die. I don't know why but I didn't. The airforce could tell I was a mental amoeba and they sent me to psych wards to get checked and tested. I passed all their ridiculous mental tests. Anyway I didn't want to live. I was in a very dark place so I just muddled around not caring what happened to me. I rammed my truck into a lightpost guarded by concrete poles after running through a fireworks stand. I just didn't care anymore.

Finally after months of self-numbing undead waltzing I hooked up with some role playing gamers playing a session of AD&D 2nd edition. It was cool and for the first time I forgot about how I wanted to die. The people were laughing and joking and making up funny stories. It was a very congenial atmosphere. After a few months with the group I had to come up with a name for the necromancer I had chosen to role-play with. It was during this time that I came upon the name Consis. I lived in a house that was a part of the military base I was stationed at. My wife had left me and I was all alone in this empty cold house. Alone with my thoughts, I began thumbing through the player's handbook for a good name. I looked and looked but only saw things that didn't feel right. Then I saw a word that left me wishing it was the story of my life. The word was "consistent". As I looked at it, I simply stared and sighed with sadness . . . "If only it were true", I thought to myself. And so I decided to shorten the word and make it sound like a name instead of an adjective. I then migrated to another group that was downright zany. These guys laughed at every turn and corner. In the former group my first and only character that I had made was killed by a beholder monster. His name was Consis. He was a human necromancer and I hadn't realized how emotionally attached I had become to him until this moment. The Dungeon Master for the new group said he would revive this character for me if I wanted to play in his group. I have been his best friend ever since. He even made me the best man at his wedding one summer in Wisconsin.

So there you have it Consis is the name of my old necromancer. I did a lot of adventuring with him. He ultimately met his demise at the hands of a horridly disgusting octopus-like creature with eyeballs attached to each tentacle. The guys came to recognize me for this character. At the end of my service in the U.S. AirForce, when it was time for us all to go our seperate ways, we had a ritualistic ceremonial burning of the character sheet and I blew his ashes over the entire city of Las Vegas from high up the side of Sunrise mountain. That was the end of the character but for me it meant I had indeed survived my darkest hour. I had lost my wife, my career, and unsuccessfully tried to kill myself twice. I had felt that by role playing the character it had carried me through the darkness which can sometime consume us, and it somehow made me stronger. I will always remember with gratitude what the character had done for rebuilding my life back to a confident man who cherished life rather than loath it.

Thank you my friend Consis. Thank you for helping me through it all.
