i couldnt agree more destro its just the point to explain the people to try something new like capitol d8

what im trying to say that xarfax i thenk for open challenge we should keep the old maps but for this great new tournament we must use new fresh maps with fresh map ideas

Finally get a chance to work on the map I never reviewed a map before but I will do my best.
Destro says that the defender of his homeland is slightly at an advantage I am going to try to make it work more even but where Red can still have a chance to defend as much as blue can have a chance to do anythang lol.

Basically make it even for both players LOL

note the rules page

I modified a few rules, eg. removed the 160% requirement for matches.  Because there was so many complaints about it.  But personally I think it would be better if all games on lords were played at 160%.

@ Ves i think that 130 diff. would be a good setting for these maps. just an idea.

Great Ideas Xarfax...BUT

@ Xarfax...  No offense taken.   I was merely pointing out the details of how the tourny was originally designed.  Doesnt matter to me how it is done now. But I do know Ves worked his butt off on this unique tourny I just didnt think it was right to toss it on the way side just like that.

About your comment on maps like Desert war HourGlass, GiantWar etc.  I agree those are 4 year old maps, and should be replaced with fresh stuff.  But do you really think people would leave there comfort zone??  I mean if we balanced all Lords maps and made them the only maps available for tourny play.... would people be okay with that?  LMAO NO!  It has been suggested for last couple seasons to remove and replace the old maps and soon as you mention it people freak out.    So even though your idea is a great idea Xarfax the majority of the players that still remain in TOH H3, will not accept losing there 4 year old maps.  

So with that said... It would be a shame to alter the uniqueness of the LORDS tourny for a lost cause idea.

I think just as Destro said , Red should have slight advantage. I would think alot of the veterans would love the challenge of sieging a land that is a bit harder to conquer.

Here is a thought. I think we should leave the maps unbalanced for the Lords tournament for now. If we were just looking for a bunch of new maps, and not actually running the tournament then I would say balancing them was fine. BUT, since we are actually gonna give this baby a whirl, I think the original ideas with it's imbalances should be left in tact. Maybe at a later date the maps could be balanced and placed on the regular maps page for regular game play. Not to say that people couldn't play on them for regular games now, they could I suppose, but they would do so knowing that there are deliberate imbalances.

On another note, I would like to know, are all of you just updating the original map that is posted? It kind of sounds to me like some of you are building new maps and I don't think that was the intention. The objective here is just to update the existing maps that Ves has made for us and make them a little more balanced, while keeping the integrity of the tournament philosophy intact.

Hi I hope I finished it good the Nighon map lol

This is my first time & unfamiliar with how the tournament works so if any problems I can fix them I marked everythang lol

I made alot of changes but to me it is more even I really hope you guys like it I want to try to do good.

Heres what I changed on Nighon map.

I took out the dragon fly hives first because since all random castles it can be uneven if one player gets a Fortress & the other not but I think it is an all Doungeon map lol

I took out Summon & Scuttle boat & Water walk because I think it would be unfair if one player get a water walk spell & the other got 2 great lv 4 spells.

All lairs are guarded.
Trog dwellings by lv1
Dragon dwelling now lv5
Manticore lair by lv4

I took out a Manticore lair for blue because he had 2 lairs & red only 1

The black tent is now guarded by lv6 creatures for a more predictable challenge & will be harder for an ambush & red & blue tents is more predictable but lv6 can be defeated lol.
Also I moved the tent slightly & made a little more walking room so you can still reach the warp & still walk to where the assesible roads that were open before I moved it.

I added a Medusa lair for blue because Red had one near his side & one in the upper top where both can reach it but blue had none.

Lastly I took out a blue evil eye lair because red had only 1 & blue had 2.

I really hope I did not do too much my first time doing this & want to do good to make it even.

playtesting nimbus!

i did some playtesting at Nimbus map and i agree with Attila... Maps doesnt need much of a change.

its challenging and tuff map... and also red have the advantage but still they not to big...

The blue chance lies in the water survivor or some greatness of spells from tower even!

Attila i dont understand why you looked at it also... was it that hard to understand my ittention of last post? lol ok

maybe i missed something!

well... again.. no need for editing on nimbus map if asking me!

i forgot that there is a poweraxis on blue side wich is not reachable.. so this map need to be edited... but still im not finished playtesting it!

I was thinking that it could get really poor on that map but I will see if i did too much or somethang & it seems blue had more of an advantage then red lol

Just a little remark: No map maker should make the final test for his own map. When you overlook something the first time there is a good chance that you overlook it the second time.

and another things: everyone seems to bring up new standards for the maps...100-160%, defender small advantage, than again equal maps...so heres the standard i wanna set, and plz no more arguing about that than:

- maps should be playable on all difficulties but 200%, if its tuff on 160 no problem, just playable
- add a small advantage to the defender, but only small like a dwelling extra or a bit shorter ways
- since the advantage is only small for the defender maps can be easy edited to equal for normal games after

all right,  i got  through with "BLACK SWAMP" which is a very nice fortress vs fortress open map.
together with the open character of the map, the lack of ore mines makes for an alternative gameplay.
i think that where the styling is concerned the starting bonus and the fact that the one or the other path is slightly more convenient are a sufficiant bonus for red.
i do have some resentments against the second map, elven pass. i don't want
to offend anyone but i concider this map as beeing totally unfavourable.
EVERYTHING is guarded by elves or grand elves without exception and
ressources and chests are quite rare. as a concequence the outcome depends
very much on chance: wheter one gets a town which copes well with shooters
or can get a "haste". even if i would completely change this, the map would
remain rather dull: the mines, a university, a dwelling or two and that's about
it.... and whomever i showed this map more or less showed an "oh my
god"-reaction.
i don't know wheter such a thing is planned but if possible i would
recommend to change this map if "backup-maps" exist.

my apologies to the mapmaker - i DO NOT propose that i could do it better
and to criticise is always easier than to do it properly but i don't think
that it would make sense to include elven pass

Grish your Avlee-Map looks good, 1 thing thou: the more random monsters the more fun the map stays when played often. Thats a small edit and ill do that myself, thx and feel free to pick another one
