The best answer is that there isn't one. I've fought and beaten 7 stacks of 9999 creatures of every kind of 7th level creature on one map. you just need the right spells and strategy.

Unbeatable army
No army is tuly unbeatable, however one of my favorite strats was to have a hero with lots of mp, expert water magic, a huge stack of archangels and clone.
Clone the stack of archangels, and in the initial attack, have them strike the biggest threat to you. They take the retal, and then you can attack with whatever else you want.
Then it's a case of cloning the stack of archangels and using them to res whoever needs it. Blinding the oponent is also a good way to buy yourself some time to keep that stack of archangels up.
It doesn't always work, but it works often enough to keep me going back to it.

One of my favorite combos although not quite unbeatable, but great for reducing enemy forces before they can attack, is an army of large stacks of titans with one stack of gold dragons. It's been awhile since I played HOMM3 so this may be wrong but I think gold dragons are the fastest unit. When your gold dragons go first as usual cast haste and then clean up with your multiple stacks of titans before anyone has a chance of moving. You can also concentrate your attack on creatures that could get to your side on their first turn to decrease the chance of ever being attacked at all.

Phoenix is the fastest unit. I can't remember right now if ArchAngels are faster than Gold Dragons.

I Think Goldies are Faster
Seems to me that the goldies are faster. The Archangels are about mid-level as far as quickness goes. I know that phoenix and blacks outdo them, but they are faster than AB's and Chaos Hydras.
They're also faster than titans, if memory serves.

toss toss i dont know if archangels or gold dragons are faster toss toss...wasnt hey you the homm3 grandmaster that was tossing with me and rychenroller in that one thread, thinking he can give us a "good challenge".

My best army would be 7 stacks of one gremling, Serena (The best tower hero) and then I'm ready to kick ass.....Espacially if I get expert scholar and learns soly's chain lightning.....then I'll cast iit on every foe.....cause gremlins are immune to chain lightning, right?

Scholar is great, great, for sure, but knowing diplomacy from the start may be useful too.

Well, I found out ArchAngels are faster. Not that it matters, because I know that your precious ABs are slower. Slow slow slow.

HeyYou, this board is visited by people that play this game for several years now (not several days like you seems to be playing it). Nobody takes you seriously when you say that Goldies are faster than Archies. You better play some more before coming here to tell us this and that.
