It does? Didn't know, Does anyone have the special edition of LotR 1? Does it really have 20 minutes of new material, with Aragorn singing 'bout Tinuviel?

last time I checked...
...the extra scenes are closer to 30-40 mins... and are mostly background on the characters...
...as for the Two Towers, the official date is December 18, that stands for North America and Europe if they manage distribution as with the Fellowship...

I hope they are not gonna skrew up this one, the Two Towers is my favorite book from the triology. Of course, the first one was great - but can they continue their success? We'll have to wait and see...

"hobbits suck" ???
...and you call yourselves Tolkien fans? ...tsk tsk tsk... you have many things to learn yet... anyway, personally I think Elijah Wood was a very good choice for Frodo... maybe not perfect like Sir Ian McKellen (aka Olorin, Mithradir, Gandalf)) but still a very good choice...
oh anfd another thing... if anybody mentions Harry Potthead in this thread again, i'm going to use him or her for target practice... don't mix lame fairytales with real Fantasy...

But there is a premiere in Paris, I think, on the 15th or something...
so 18th isn't the first chance to see the movie...
Anyway, in Norway 600 people camped outside in several degrees below for three weeks prior to the ticket sale. They occupied a whole park with their hobbit village.
I just hope Liv Tyler is killed during the shooting, and they have to have someone else do her part (which is really NOTHING) with a cape to cover their face (like in Plan 9 fom outer space). I think she should be boiled alive. She sucks. You want romance - go watch anything starring Meg Ryan (by the way, I think even she would make a better Arwen than Liv "the log" Tyler).

ok i saw it..... and wow..... I liked it alot
The part with golem cracked me up, what a cracker, although they did stretch it on a bit too long
and legolas doing the snowboard thang down the stairs... sigh..... very disappointing ...
other than that, no major complaints!@ they did snow around with the story a bit more tho....
elves in the siege? lol no.

Yes, the movie was great and gollum was awesome. I agree with the sheildsirfing nonsence but it was only a few seconds long. As to the changes in the story, I for one think that they improve the storytelling. The elves, with the exception of Legolas, in the book are total fairies. Barely helping at all, just concerned about running away across the sea and hiding in an immortal bliss. With the biggest problem being, they know what Sauron will do to the earth and they still don't lift a finger to help. It was a great idea to have the elvin archers join the men at Helm's Deep.

Interesting how you get to switch to Aragorn, although it shouldve said something, rather than just suddenly making you Aragorn
