Using magic against Black Dragons?
Is there any arti in h4 that allows you to cast spells on black dragons? Like that orb of something in h3?

Ring of Greater Negation should allow to cast spells on them according to its description. Haven't tested it and haven't encountered a situation where I have the ring and there are Black Dragons in the field as it is Relic.

Yep. That ring disables blackie's magic resistance.... It sure good to see how they die from poison... And other resistances to elementals, undead and mechanical creatures is disabled...

Good to see that Black Dragons are not so invulnerable as we were all lead to believe initially. Was just wondering, are Black Dragons affected by defensive spells(like Stoneskin, Bless, etc..) cast on your army?

Yes they are. Magic Resistance is only effective when a spell or effect is cast, and offers no protection against existing enchantments.

Exactly, so while weakness will not work on blacky, he will do less damage to your troops if they've got fortune or spiritual armor cast on them since it is THEY who are receiving the spell's effects, not the blacky. Just the same as the fact that teleporting a boulder on top of blacky's head will inevitable crush him, while no amount of thunderbolts will do.

i guess the what vince was interested was whether it it possible to create dragons with dragonstrength...
so, really, if you have this ring of negation, can you negate only opposing dragons' immunity, or it applies to your own creatures too?

The only bad thing about The greater Ring of Negation is that it negates your unit's magic resistance too... But even without Ring your blackies are not immune to folowing spells/skills: "Stun" and "Bind".

BTW, do BDs do half damage to fire resistant monsters like FE and efreet? And do the fire attacking monsters do more damage to ice resistant monsters?

Yes they do less damage to fire resistance creatures (Phoenix, Efreet and FE), but I never heard, that they do more damage to cold resist creatures.

Breath attack of Black Dragons and Phoenixes won't have any effect on fire resistant creatures. Only their normal attack has and the damage even then is halved.

I thought a BD's breath weapon is its normal and only attack. When you see a BD attack, you only see it breath fire and the reference sheet doesn't in any way explain the breakdown of a BD's 55-110 points of damage.

breath attack
the "breath" part of the attack is the area effect, so if a phoenix is behind the sprites you attacked they will take no damage. When they referred to "normal" attack they meant the unit you clicked to attack. the 55-110 applies to all victims of the attack "normal" and "breath".

In addtion, if those sprites have Fire Immunity, then your Dragon makes half damage to them.
