Week of the Heroes Towns!
A new Asylum Town page was posted on Celestial Heavens Unleashed. We made some pretty wild assumptions, as you will see!
http://strategyplanet.com/homm
Coming later this week are more town descriptions, including the Preserve and the Necropolis. In the meantime, tell us what is the most powerful Heroes IV Town according to you. We know very little information is avaible so far, but let's see what people think. The best posts will be published on C.H.U. by the end of the week.

Problems with Netscape
We're experiencing some problems with Netscape support: our Town pages just won't load correctly in some cases. We're investigating the issue. In the meantime, try using Internet Explorer if you can. A thousand apologies.
As for hydras joining army with horses made from pure hate and fire, well, that town is based on Chaos after all. Maybe this rather unusual combo is possible.

Ahem!
I really don't think that Asylum is a horrid name, it sounds cool. It is pronounced UH-sie-LUM.
Incubus/Anti-Crusader,
I don't think that we should worry about Hydras with Fire-horses; It was Antagarichian Hydras that hated fire - in Jadame, it might be completely different!
I have some cool assumptions about Asylum on my thread: Heroes IV-Asylum Town.

Preserve is Out!
We just released a partial list of creatures and buildings from the Preserve. Internet Explorer needed for now (sorry, blame Frontpage). I'm also collecting comments on the new towns: let me know either here or by email what your favorite town is so far.

Hmm....well mythology aside, the basilisks of traditional fantasy tend to be more neutral and uninteligent, not evil. I think they fit in perfectly well with this type of town. Most fantasy creatures have been substantially changed from their original mythological counterpart.

Just to increast the post counts, :P
Hello, here are my comments on h4 new towns:-
With the current information available (though not much), here are my opinions on the new towns in h4 (basically my subjective biased opinion with some wild guess and bullsh**.) ļ
Some assumptions:
1). Some useful spells e.g. haste, slow, vision, view air/earth, anti-magic, dispel and magic arrow are assumed to be available to all towns (maybe except Stronghold)
2). Coz no information available, the factor of resource requirement for buildings is ignored. (though it will definitely have some bearing on towns).
3). Opinions are based on gameplay and common strategies in h3 except those known changes.
4). You can tolerate my lengthy and lousy English.
** ATS: according to sources
Let¡¦s start with the ¡§boring¡¨ Haven !
A). Haven (life magic, human/castle creatures)
- I guess life magic will include those spells like cure, bless, prayer and more importantly resurrection. It would be quite strong in beneficial spells. It lacks great direct damage spell. Destroy undead is by no means impressive. Maybe NWC should put some new spells for it.
- ATS, I think the biggest advantage for life magic is that it allows resurrection of lost units after winning a battle. That would be very powerful considering the fact that only 8 armies are allowed for each player except garrison troops.
- As for the heroes, I expect leadership will be no problem for them. Besides, I suspect Haven heroes can get Diplomacy or Charm skills with higher chance. Should that being the case, they will be very strong.
** I think Haven would be pretty strong in h4 just like castle in h3. But I don¡¦t like it much coz I¡¦m evil.
B). Necropolis (Death magic/undead creatures)
- Death magic is ¡§supposed to be¡¨ the opposite of life. I guess spells like death ripple, animate dead, curse etc will appear in its mage guides. To me, death magic is quite similar to life magic: quite good low level spells, best restorative spells available( resurrect and animate dead) and lack of great offensive spells. Would that still be the case in h4?
- ATS, the necromancy will be kept in h4 and thus the old strategy of ¡§skele horde¡¨ may still be valid in h4. I suspect NWC may consider to put mummy/royal mummy back. (Well, maybe due to the showing of the movie. ƒº )
- Apart from wisdom and necromancy, I cannot think about any new skills specified for necro heroes.
*** Without the nightmare, necropolis can¡¦t get my vote for it.
C). Asylum (Chaos magic/mainly dungeon units)
- well, here comes one of the more popular town thanks to the dragons. I don¡¦t have a very clear idea about chaos magic. But I guess it will have some very powerful spells e.g. Armageddon, Berserk or even Implosion and maybe some useful fire school spells e.g. blind, bloodlust etc. Given the most powerful direct damage spells and the increased intelligence of its heroes (just like the mana vortex in dungeon), chaos magic will be one of the most fearsome magic school. Magic-associated tactics like hit-and-run and armageddon trick will make it even more annoying.
- The former dungeon heroes are very good especially the warlocks. Alamar, Jeddite and Deemer all start with great spells. I personally think NWC should consider to remove resurrection specialists from asylum otherwise it would be too strong !
*** I think the line-up of asylum is one of the most interesting if not most powerful (well, that goes to stronghold). Think about nightmare, hydra and dragon fighting together¡K¡Kwoooo, it makes me happy. (ok ok I know that maybe we cannot get hydra and dragon together, just drop the stupid hydra. )
D). Academy (Order magic/mainly tower units)
- I like wizard¡¦s town in h2 and I like tower in h3 and so I would try to keep my views on this town to be fair¡K¡Kƒº
- Order magic, what¡¦s that ? Forgetfullness, disguise and Hypnotize ? What a deadly sh** combination. If NWC doesn¡¦t have enough spells for this town, I got some. Give some decent spells to the academy ! (well, forgetfullness is decent, I nearly forget it. )
- Quote: ¡§ Order magic forces this town to employ lawful creatures. In battle, Academy forces can charm enemies into defecting to fight on their side.¡¨
?????? What is lawful creature ? Can academy turn the enemy troops into its side permanently? I am in a chaos.
- I guess diplomacy or charm will be given to academy heroes more often than not. ATS, creatures not led by heroes may run away if overwhelmed or even join the opposite side. This being the case, dip/charm will be even more useful.
- There is a ¡§rumour¡¨ that giant may appear in academy but NOT titan. Don¡¦t do that, NWC, ¡K¡K¡Kplease.
*** with the current information, it seems that academy won¡¦t be an easy town to use. Never mind, I will use it, for titan¡¦s pride.
E). Preserve (Nature magic/ ???? units)
- wolf, Sprite, Water Elemental, Basilisk, Unicorn and Phoenixes. What a line-up ! Maybe this town should be called ¡§Fancy Zoo¡¨.
- Quote: ¡¨The woodland creatures of this Nature magic-based town enjoy a recruitment bonus that lets them add new forces to their army after a successful battle¡¨ This sounds interesting. Another kind of necromancy?
This would be another way to by-pass the creature production limit apart from necro and diplomacy. Should it be the case, nature magic will be very strong.
- In addition, I guess spells like lightning bolt, ice bolt, frost ring or even meteor shower will appear in nature magic apart from something like stone skin. Then nature magic will be quite balanced. Just curious, will NWC consider the weather spells/weather affecting spells suggested in the community ?
- As for the heroes, I won¡¦t be surprised to find path-finding skill in preserve heroes. Even maybe logistics and navigation. Well, this will definitely give them an edge in exploration and expansion.
*** The new image of unicorn seems more attractive. Preserve will probably be the choice of environmentalists. (I am not, haha) Should NWC use Cindy Crawford, Cameron Diaz or the like for the sprite, maybe I will like it.
F). Stronghold (No magic ?/stronghold units)
- Here comes my another favourite: the town of war. Coz no magic, so no need to worry about it. ļ
- More powerful creatures, higher production, more blacksmith special items and more skills for starting heroes. So, it seems NWC wants to test how Might can vs Magic this time.
- I think another big advantage is that stronghold can hire heroes of any class. Then it will be even possible to develop a great spell-caster and take the mage guides of other players for free ! (well, not free actually, with blood and courage ļ)
*** Not much can be said about this town. The town of great warriors. The town for all-out offense just like 50~60s Brazil national soccer team. I just like it.

Necropolis Revealed
Ok boys and girls. If you took a look at CHU recently, you noticed that our Necropolis page is up, and if you did not, well, you missed something important. Only the Stronghold is missing so far. We'll see what we can do about it.
There is alo some speculation about the Necro level 5 creature and a few other buildings/monsters. With your help, I should be able to fill a couple of holes in our analysis. Keep sending me mail, I love it. Thanks.

Kudos to Mystery
Yes, I should mention again that my good friend Mystery is the brain behind the analysis, while I simply filled some holes and did that nice looking layout. So if any information is incorrect, feel free to blame him..
Seriously, with the newly released GameSpot screenshots, we finally have more information to work on. Look for a major update in a couple of days.

We're still looking at the recently released combat and Asylum shot (from Computer Gaming World), but it's hard to guess which creature goes where. Expect an update as soon as my life goes back to normal (I only have a few minutes to spend online ). Thanks for the kind words.
