Should Heroes V have Night and Day in the game?

I was wondering if Heroes V should have Night and Day in the Game when playing it?

Everytime a hero is in combat, enter their castle or just wander about the map it is always in day time.

Whenever the turn if finished the game just goes from day to day.  (do the Heroes just make camp until morning?)

Well

How about adventuring in night time as well?

The castles would have different night time scenes to compliment the terrain changes as well.

Combat could take place either in a Moonlight arena or a dark foggy type arena.

Same could be said for adventuring the map.  See the area again bathed in a moonlight scene where all the scenery has a dark look about them but not too dark cause you would not see anything.

What do you think?

Yes thats right.

After player1 has finished moving his/her hero for daylight turn, then it goes to the computer or human opponent to finish their turn during the day.

Then it would go back to player1 which would then switch to night time to continue their move and then to the opposition to make their move again at night time.

After that it would swich to day time and so forth.

It would be cool, that's for sure, you could even have day/night-creature's and according to night or day they would have better stats. The only real problem is that homm is a turn based strategy and in being so, you can't let the day turn to night in one turn, because of the other player's turns are still to be taken.

It could work if you put fourteen turns in one week, altering one day-turn and one night-turn. However I feel fourteen turns/week is too much, because of creature growth. Creature-generation/turn would be too low, while adventuring goes faster. However if creature growth would be doubled too,in order to keep the balance in adventuring to the amount of creatures needed, the problem would be gone. Gold should be received twice a day (so once a turn), so there doesn't change too much with that.

I like the idea of a night town-interface, with light coming from all the houses and structures, maybe a different music-theme, etc...

But it means that armies can move without camping & sleeping, right?
E.g. day1 - army moves and spends all its movepoints.
night1 - it moves once again, with full MP ?
This just doesn't seem logical for me, if I understood it right.

Another way could be to make some races as "daylight races" and others - "nighttime races". All the players move in the same turn, but daylight races like Life, Nature etc. move during daylight and therefore have some bonuses vs. night races. And vice-versa.

Interesting stuff:

Interesting.

And how to get it work? I'd say 14 days, where you get only 50 % of movement back between the turns. But every turn (day/night) after the point where you have walked 1 day and a night in a row, the units would weel tired (ALL stats decreased, even also morale and luck) and the movement points recovered after a turn would be dramatically lowered until the units just cannot walk more. Not sure how to deal with the elemental, mechanical and undead units.

It would also be cool, if building a building took little longer (if the building were big). Like building a castle would take 3,5 days (7 turns) and so on.

Or on the other hand add new terrain that would change from day to night with having the usage of 14 day turns.

We have grass terrain or swamp terrain why not night terrain like fog or midnight.

Then any castle ontop of that terrain would be in night time and affect the look of the town.

Also say gives the darker units like necro to make all night or undead creatures a +2 speed movement.

Also combat would be in moonlight or shroud of fog.  That way both day and night would be together withou affectin morale, energy or creature growth

It would be cool if night adventuring heroes could attack  day-heroes camps.

I was thinking a terrible idea but day time I was thinking can be the same as before but at night time it can be more beautifully animated in semi darkness with lights from an observatory or Lighthouse or even your castle.
Also creatures may be hidden in the darkness which can make it even harder on you especially higher lv so probally a clue that an ambush may happen.

i've got an idea on the movement problem:
you have full movement during the day and half movement during the night. however, if you choose to rest the night (ie. not move), you have double movement during the next day, like an investment.

by doing this: if you have a long journey, you would only travel during the day. but if you are in an emergency and are nearly at your castle before your castle is attacked the next day, you could just move into your castle to defend it that night.

also, some creatures might have better stealth abilities during the night so by just moving at night an army could sneak past an army, or launch a surprise attack on an undefended town.

then the town might have the option of sending out automatic patrols (for a price) to prevent surprise attacks... but i'm getting above my self. anyway, you get the picture.

What if they included some new spells to control both night/day and weather, i.e a necromancer could summon moonlight and move in stealth after using the spell (only for as long as it lasts - 1 turn maybe)

A wizard could summon a storm of snow and the effects could
be about the same - maybe the water spells could deal an extra 50% when used during a snow storm... ....?

That would be intersting.

In Heroes I there was a spell called Storm but that attacked all creatures on the Battlefield.

Some New Terrain Spells

Death - Shroud of Darkness
When cast the whole battlefield is shrounded in moonlight aura making -2 morale for all live creatures and +2 speed for Undead Creatures.

Life - Heavenly Light
when cast bathes the battlefield in a Holy sunlight increasing morale by +1 for all living creatures and afflicting damage every round to undead creatures.
(like Plague)

Chaos - Storm
When cast lightning bolts strikes out randomly accross the battlefield hitting creatures alike.

Nature - Earthly Roots{/b}
when cast roots from the ground randomly grow and entangle creatures across the battlefield.  Any creature entangled will lose a turn and cannot relaiate if attacked.

Order - Hurricane
When cast prevents all flying creatures to fly for 2 rounds of combat.

YEA i agree. That would add much strategy in game (i mean day and night)

But there's another side. Seazons of the year, such as summer, winter, spring, etc. So every aligment will have own bonnuses, depending of current season.

regarding the last two entries:

isn't it a bit unrealistic having seasons when your average map lasts about 3 months, or just 1 season. it won't be very fair then if one town has the advantage for the whole game.

don't even get started with years.

hummmm... i think it may work for a hero to choose when he wants to travel, night or day, and then give all the +`s and -`s later...

this could also tie into the games strategy, because if you attack a sleeping hero, theres not much he can do...

Although weather effect will be cool, I don't think day/night strategy is necessary!

In fact, it is (no offence to the author) the copying of idea from Warcraft. Anyway, there is no use in a turn based game like HOMM. Death at advantage at night? Givemeabreak!

Ah yes Death creatures would have an advantage in Night but not during the day.

How many vampires wander during the day time?  According to myth they would perish as shown in movies, games, books etc.

Creatures of light eg live creatures have the advantage ie morale bounses durig the day and morale negatives during the night.

Creatures of dark would have movement bonuses during the night but would suffer physical attacks from the sunlight.

You could get creature that both exist in the light and dark without any bonuses or negatives

I think it would be cool if there was a night and day thing.
IT sould go day/night turn 1 then in the morning turn 2 would start.
BUT there should also be some heros and creatures that could be hired or bought or what ever during the night!

I agree with some of the bounuses but what about the preserve and the aslym and academy?

Well
Ayslum is basically to do with Chaos Magic and that involved Fire.  so some of the creatures would say shine in the dark like the effreet which is a fire creature and would light up part of the battle field.  Hydras could see in the dark cause they are reptile type creatures.

Academy would have similar effect the Dawrves have good night vision.  Gold Golems have no eye so night or day does no effect them.  Naga i think like the dark more than light because they are half woman half snake.

Preserve{/b} would have sopme creatures that fight better in the dark than light.  Sprites like effreets would give off some light during the dark and would gain more speed than others.  Elves have superbe nighttime vision making their shots more accurate and deadly.  Pheonix with its fires would light up half the battlefield during to its size and strenth of fire as well.

Of course all those not mentions would suffer some penalties becuase of their lack of bonuses on the night terrain.

These are just some example I would put towards the Day and night terrain.
