Should Heroes V have Weather in it?
I mean like animated weather effects on the Adventure Map and Combat Map.
Weather like
Rain,
Snow,
Winds
Storms With occasional flashes of Lighting across the map etc.
I know that mean more animation and probaly more resources from the computer system but i was just wondering.
Baldur's Gate 2 have some weather animation in the game and it was very nice and gave the game a sense of realism.
Anyone else think that too?

Maybe weather can affect battle too.
eg. if you engage an enemy army in rainy weather, the range of your archers will be decreased (like in the game shogun: total war), or if your demon army engages an enemy in snowy weather, their morale will decrease because they're freezing, or thunderbirds fighting in a thunderstorm become more powerful.

Hm, I suppose weather would give the appearence some variation. Homm 4 could've used that..
Weather actualy affecting statistics could be a bit out of the way. Who knows, mabey it would be nice.

Wind would affect flying creatures to half movement or less.
Rain would affect line of sight.
Snow would affect creatures that is not used to it.
Storm would give 20% chance of random lighting strikes.
etc

It would be better if Weather effects where Map spells which were case (and maintained) by heroes.
Of course, it could be natural as well but it should be fairly rare that a lot of creatures would die due to natural events. Creatures might take some hits as damage but since top creature always has max damage when a combat it wouldn't do much good to take away some health.

if the weather was natural and not spell created then there would be a bit of strategy involved.
eg
You see you enemy in the distance and he/she is standing the Storm terrain. Do you attack and risk the random lighting attack hiiting you as well as the enemy and it might damage more of your creatures than theirs?
Or do you wait and let them attack you in the wind terrain that you are standing on which affect flying creatures?
Or even move to cursed ground which is just after the storm terrain and they might attack you. You have a might hero and they might have a magic hero and will reduced their spells?
Decisions Decision.

Id go for it. on like a suiside mission. But maybe spell power would increase a bit to. like in storm terrian a hero cast lightning bolt and or chain lightning. it would do more damage.

Well, not exactly. If the creatures would be moving with the wind, they'd have increased speed. That would make the game interesting. Running around the enemy hero before battle to give your flyers a tactical advantage .

But if the wind was running in the opposite direction then it would reduce the flying speed which give a tactical advantage for the enemy

Yeah, that's why the attacker would do his best to give the advantage to his flyers, not his op's by attacking from a specific direction.

mebey there could be a spell that could control the wind to make it in your favor. or if you have no fylers cast something like a tornado to kill some flyers.

or maybe the wind strenght in wind terrain could vary in strngths and at the strongest peaks it could give say a 20% chance of spells backfiring and most creatures have move ment restrictions.

Oh, and let's not have the weather limited to certain areas. Storms travelling from one side of the map to the other would be an interesting thing, don't you think? And if there's a quite weak rain where a battle is, there should be a possibility of the rain stopping in the middle of the battle. Weather isn't a permanent thing you know.

Good Idea but....
I like the idea of Weather.. but how would it be introduced on the map.. or would it be at all.. could you see bad weather brewing down the road or would it be a random thing happening during a battle? Later.

It definetely should appear on the map. Not necesarily the entire map, could be just the selected hero's eyeshot.

The rain idea would be awsome, expecally sorry im a bad speler. {joke} plus the rain could add damage to lightning attacks. or water spells.

Interesting idea!
If there's heavy rain on the battlefield, probably it's all covered with a thin layer of water. Therefore a lightning bolt anywhere would not only affect every creature on the battlefield, but it would do it with maginified damage.
Would be interesting to see such things in the game, wouldn't it?

That is a bit too frightening.
Imagine
Raining in combat mode
Ground covered with water
Suddenly a lighting bolt strikes out randomly hitting a creature and the water and electrocuting everyone on the battle field at once.
It would probably eliminate everything in one go.
