Heroes3 - can we still learn something new?

I've been playing this game since ToH season 2...maybe some 3 years now? And sometimes we think there's nothing new to learn, either regarding tactics or game features.

But then again, from time to time, we are surprised with something funny, that we have never experienced before. It happened to me last night.

Probably most people already know, but have anyone tried to hit a group of dendroids with a stack of harpies (unupgraded)? If the trees survive to retaliate and don't kill the harpies, these *return* to the place from where they jumped but can't move again until the dendroids are killed.

If someone has a similar experience to share, I'd like to hear

sure

...maybe ive something new for u..although i know u r a very experienced vet from the old days.

Ok...i give u 2 questions..and if u can answer them to yourself without trying it then i was wrong. Those things are maybe unknown, cause these situations are very rare, but if u r in one of the specific situation u wish u would know it.

Ok..fisrt question:

a)What happen if u kill yourself AND the Dragons in an Utopia? b)If u win in an Utopia but only with Summoned Elementals left?

Second:

What happen if u want to enter an unchecked Garrison if uve no town?

Ok, hope i could tell u something new.

Nice questions, I thought that in the case of utopia/summoned I would be able to rehire hero with tope rewards in tavern but that was not the case. I did test it and in both cases hero in battle is lost but then you can send another hero and he automatically wins the tope rewards (money and artis).

About the no town/garrison issue, i tested it and nothing unexpected happened. Maybe I am missing something?

the garrison thingie

If uve have no town u have also no tavern. So if u check a garrison with right clicking on it (like u do normally) u will see it empty, even if creatures are in the garrison.

Well this situation is very rare on TOH maps, but on the Maps of the official 3DO german championship years ago it occured.

Imagine U are entering a thought empty garrison early, with the hero which is the win/loss indicator of the map, and then facing tons of creatures. 3DO is weird.

Um, no. If the garrison is empty, the cursor becomes a rearing horse when you put it over the garrison, while when there is at least one creature in there, the cursor will be a sword. Whew, long sentence .

I've been reading the above comments, and I just think somebody should test this under certain circumstances. It seems to me (a player of two years, considerable experience right?) That if your hero has certain skills or lack their of then they can't see creatures in a garrison. I know that doesn't seem to make much sense but the reason I know what you guys are talking about is because it's happened to me, and that seemed to be with low-level heroes with crappy skills. What do the rest of you out there think?

I have a little story too .

There's this dude, his HC username is "I". To avoid confusion, I'll refer to myself as "me" in ufrther parts of this post.

I is a better HoMM player than me. A lot better, in fact. But still, we play from time to time. This time, we editted the map we were playing, so that we both had the Cloak of the Undead King near our main towns (we both played necro), as well as 2 majors. I got the sea captain's hat and some other crap thing, while me gets Helm of Heavenly Enlightenment, and some other goodie lol. I get's angry. Did I mentioned I picked Isra as starting hero? *evil grin*
I didn't even bother buying a single creature in me town, and I got expert necromancy first day, while he struggled to do so the entire week lol. When I finally got it, I was running along with 100 liches. When I went up to 700, I refused to continue . So much for Heroes master lol.

Troopless hero

Once, having only elementals, I Surrendered. I payed 0 Gold and then rehired this hero from tavern without any troops!
I didn't experiment, but interesting... Obviously, he would loose any battle, but... if he was in a castle in siege, would the towers shot?

lol it amazes me how some people can have so much problem understanding what a firewall means.

tewiller, you see that a firewall isnt actually a fire which looks like a wall behind your computer.

A firewall is a way for someone to stop the flow of data at certain ports.

You have chat ports, PtP ports, gaming ports and so on.

And now as things unfortunately are my school networks gaming ports are blocked. Basically because they think we study worse if we spend our time playing games online. Now if that is right/wrong can be discussed, mainly because there still are online games and games you can play online who doesnt have data sending like heroes3 does.

But as things are now the firewall is in the way because i cant recieve/send any data.

I will try and get the time to play some of you during summer when im visiting family, although if you wanna play me then tewiller you better get some points. I dont wanna get here and kill everyone with a big mouth just to see a cherry pop up next to my tourney icons

now stop toss every thread with this BS. I can understand that its fun from time to time and i can take it. But threads like this are one of a kind because they obviously are very good and interesting ...keep them that way please.
