I don't hate Harry Potter, I read it and enjoy it. I just keep in mind the fact that it was made for young adults, and continue on. I believe if J.K. Rowling wanted to write to an older audience she could. I like her ideas and all of the things she created for her fantasy world. Not on the par of Tolkein, but ingenious none-the-less.

Some of the all-time best Fantasy books ever written, like Lewis Carrollīs Wonderland/Looking-Glass, and Michael Endeīs "Momo", are written for children. Good childrensī books do not have an age cap.
I find the Potter books to be a very enjoyable read, always entertaining, never boring. Still they do not go anywhere near the abovementioned onesī. One reason: The characters are far too simple, either lovable or hateable, and nothing in between.
