There could be more super artifacts like the grail, such as the Dragons Eye, Sorcerers Stone, Pot of gold... etc.. Each having its own customized effect depending on the type of town.
The Dragons Eeye could make a Storm Dragon or a Diamond Dragon depending on the Alignment of the town it was built in.
The Sorcerers Stone Could allow for that Special Spell to be made in the mages guild.
The Pot of Gold give an extra 5k of gold per turn and plus 2 to Luck or Moral depending on the Alignment of the town it was built in.
And the Super Town could be built by adding all Special Artifact found, but only in the Capital could you put more than one.

How about a structure that changes the horse your hero rides on! This could be a drake, a pegasus, or even a dragon! (I know a hero riding on a dragon might sound dumb, but at least hear me out) Certain animals the the hero rides might give special abilities on the world map. These include the abilities to walk over mountains, walk on water, have no terrain penalty when traveling, or even cause wandering units to join you or fear you. They should also act like the ballista and be able to attack once a turn. I know it might sound far fetched, but the horse the hero rides is too plain. How about some extra stuff like armor and golden hooves that give it special abilities!

How about just "real capitol"...
I mean that Grail structure and capitol would in the same thing. All towns would be normal, but you could choose one of your towns to be the main town or "capitol".
This could be build after everything else has been built.
The real capitol would add something to towns defense like larger moats, trenches, more arrow towers, extra mage guild level, some kind of guardian creature...
This would give more importance to main town and maybe it could have more power when you control more towns. All roads go to Rome as they say.
I'm really against the idea of "ultimate creature", but can't understand what it would add to the game. I think it would nice that you should have to concentrate training heroes rather than trying to get the ultimate creature.

Like that idea, Sha_Men. It would be like, if every other town you own falls(how bad a player would you have to be for that to happen?) then this "Capitol" would act as the final line of Defense. Better than a "Supreme Creature" as that might unbalance gameplay(would you need to attack it with 20 of the highest level units to even do damage to it? would it be able to kill 300 level 1 units in a single strike?
I think the idea of having a "Capitol" with more towers, a larger moat, stronger walls, what have you, that would be sweet.
As for the idea of different mounts for the Hero, wouldn't that mess up maps tho? like if you have a hero who has a pegasus, who can, in effect act as tho fly were cast upon him/her, wouldn't that make maps rather boring?
"Oh look, a mountain. I'll just fly over it."
The idea, though of having neutral stacks join you, or fear you because of your mount would be interesting, although balance would have to be addressed, so that one hero doesn't take every stack on the map simply because he is on a Black Dragon.

well, this idea of an ultimate capital as a final line of defense I think, should be only be allowed to be built AFTER all structures are built, INCLUDING the capital. Also, you can't build it until you control another castle (maybe even 2). If you lose these two castles, your super capital should be degraded (you can't maintain that much power without having tributary castles, even Rome had tributaries. That's why they fell when all their provinces were destroyed)
As for the different mounds I mentioned, maybe the ability to manipulate terrain IS too powerful. However, I still believe its ability to influence neutral units AND be able to ATTACK in combat be allowed. It would be just like a ballista, except your mound would gain experience as you fight more battles, enphasizing the importance of keeping that hero alive!

Well...
I say that towns defenses in overall should have more variety and they should have more affect to the battles (They should be more powerful) also they could cost much more than now. This would mean you would have to concentrate building town defenses into particular towns and you would have to let some towns more vulnerable.
"Real capitol" in way should be only allowed to build if you have build almost everything into the city like 80% including the capitol. It should get power if you take another city which has been builded into some percentage, let's say 60%. All these towns would add something to the defence of Real Capitol. Of course when these towns that support the capitol would fall it would degrade these defensive structures in the main town...
BTW Rome fell lot earlier as they economics went down...
There are lot of other reasons too but this forum isn't the right time and place wonder what happened...

For some reason, I just really like the idea of changing the horses heroes ride on. Maybe the ultimate structure you can build IS a structure that makes these ultimate riding animals. These creatures could gain experience just like the hero, and maybe even attack just like the hero. It could also increase the speed of your units in battle, lower their morale, increase your hero's stats, etc. Can someone please give their opinion on this!!!!!
Also, can someone tell me how to get the patch for heroes 3. This patch is the one that weakened the castle by increasing angel cost and increased fortress stats. I DON'T WANT TO BUY THE EXPANSIONS.

For the unit your hero rides, they should be able to attack during combat or amplify hero abilities inside AND outside of battle! How about a dragon, pegasus, giant wolves, griffins, etc.

cool
You forgot:
Phoenix, Wyvern, Hell Hound, Troglodiles...
And one more thing:
I think it will be not bad if heroes can buy these in some buildings outside the castle!!!(very expensive!!!)

I think people like the idea of the ultimate structure because it means they couldn't loose that city, and in essence never loose. This is why so many games have codes that make you invincible. Personally, I think this detracts from the game.
Sha_men, great idea! I really like the idea of having the capital give you more, and making that city more important. It is the capital of your kingdom, isn't it. But I don't think you need so much to build it. Washington D.C was built in a swamp a few years after the U.S. was it's own country. I mean, if you just captured a town, then you have to wait to build it up before you build your capital. It's a question then of conquer or wait?
Personally, I think that if you capture another opponents Capital Town, you should have the option of moving the capital there. Just an idea......

ITs an interesting idea, but one problem. Wouldn't that give the strategy of a powerful hero too powerful. That idea would kill people who base ideas on seperate heroes. I think to move the ultimate capital building should take a payment in advance, then take a certain number of days to actually move the structure. That way, even if you payed for the moving of the structure, you could still lose it if someone attacks you right away.
Basically, interesting idea, but there should be HUGE restrictions to the movement of the ultimate structure.
Also, more ideas on the mounts heroes ride. I have one. This one can burrow underground and make trench warfare (a faq already posted) possible. Think about it. Also, I still like the idea of units attacking in battle (like war machines)
