One of the creatures is going to be Dracolich, another uberdragon, this time death-aligned.
Too bad Kitten gave up her Black Panther. Will we get the "Nazgul"? I certainly hope so, at least for the promised "Rings" campaign!
The team is working on creature experience system, too, and a number of commander features which may be postponed to 3.59 patch.
Some fans are working on a number of new creatures ( redrawing the Heroes 3 graphics or even importing them from Might and Magic series). However, I am afraid they won't make it for 3.58, whenever it comes out. For more details check out other threads here and Celestial Heavens WoG forum.

A new unit called Sorceress has been presented over at Celestial Heavens. It looks great - a flying raven turning into a female spellcaster.
So, 3.58 comes out "before Christmas"?

It better come out sometime in the summer or even earlier. Having WoG 3.58 come out in summer will be a good Christmas present.

Hard to say when 3.58 will be ready. Hopefully we will have it out before Christmas. As Fnord has said earler in some other topic or forum, the team members do have a life. Some are on vacation, some are working, some are doing other things as well. So it's just impossible to get everybody working on it at once. And since there are so many changes and additions done and still to be done, there is the testing to do also. Making sure everything works before it is released. A Christmas release is probably a reality, but we really just don't know.

3.56 - 3/2002
3.57 - 10/2002
Well, I for one think it's taking too long. I don't want to sound ungrateful - I am fully aware that the WoG team members are just fans who "have their lives". Needless to say, I am grateful for the great mod. However, I still think they should have divided this patch into several parts and released them every six months.

problem is we did separate this into parts. There are well more stuff planned than what is being released in 3.58 so we had to split it already. We can't split it anymore than we did already. THe thing is the new stuff we are doing is mainly to the main program and new script abilities. Once this is done and working correctly the next release will be easier to do.

Well, I for one think it's taking too long. I don't want to sound ungrateful - I am fully aware that the WoG team members are just fans who "have their lives". Needless to say, I am grateful for the great mod. However, I still think they should have divided this patch into several parts and released them every six months.
Although 3.57 came out 10/2002 (I didn't check the date but I assume you're correct), remember that it took us another 6 months or so to get multiplayer 3.57f working (along with various bug fixes and a couple of new small features).
Then during parts of the summer, things slowed to a crawl. It's not always just a matter of splitting a release up so it has fewer features -- due to the popularity of WoG, we had a lot more script writers join the team this time around (and several that left) and ended up with a lot more scripts done, but it's taking awhile to integrate them and get everything working. Add to this the fact that a lot of additions to each WoG version, this one included, are new ERM features that allow new and better scripts to be written. But releasing the ERM features alone and without scripts that use them wouldn't be of much interest to most people who play WoG. I suspect that not more than 10% or so of WoG players write ERM scripts.
Another issue is the new creatures. We've got four new ones in the game so far but only two of them have their special abilities coded. Often that's the case: we'll have part of a feature done but not the whole feature because it may rely on other things or other people to finish it or ideas need to be discussed in more detail and then after a feature is addedit will need testing, and then it may need to be updated to get it working right. It's rare that a new feature or creature ability is added that works 100% right away, so the team spends time testing and fixing and testing again. Sometimes we still miss things but we do our best.
Also, there is one more issue: since 3.57f only came out in the Spring of this year, that's not so long really. While there's people like yourself who would prefer new versions often (perhaps even every six months?), there's others who prefer the stability of one version for awhile so they can continue their online and play-by-email games knowing that everyone has the same version. While we've never actually delayed WoG versions for this reason, I think it's not a bad thing if they're spread out a little.
