I think you would know it to... It all started with QUEST FOR GLORY and KINGSQUEST GAMES... sinds then i really love myths from all cultures and all styles... I read Books (INFO books) Not Story books!!! and search the web Films cartoons... I get it from everywere Mostly from Games..
I really love every kind of myths Exept for one.. The tolkien versions...

I don't get it Incubus. Where do you get this info, and what makes you asume that that is the only way these creatures could work? I mean, I know an Incubus must be male, and a Succubus must be female, but I don't think a Banshee must be female.(A BANSHEE IS ALWAYS FEMALE!!! DON"T WATCH TO MANY x-MEN CARTOONS! GHEHEE) It's just a scottish ghost with screams that freeze people solid.(There are many versions of the banshees stories but most of them tell of the stories i told you) Just curious. Seems like you more background info on these creature than the Library of Congress! ( I am Living Library of mythology and fantasy >;o)
And hey! I like people. I'm human and proud. I could take on an F'ing Dragon. Just give me a sword, a shield, and a decoy person. Lol. Maybe Shae. An angel would be a bit tougher!! Maybe two decoys. (I'm human too.. But that's the reason they suck in games... I already see them to much.. I play games to avoid them.. not to play like them..)
Yeah, a hobbit couldn't pick his nose without killing himself. Even in Lord of the Rings they could hardly take on Orcs. But they do make a good level 1 creature!!! I would rather have a halfling than have the Minotaurs be level 1. (God, if there are 4 levels the Minotaur is level 2!)
1 WORD ABOUT HOBBITS... THAT"S THE GREATEST CREATURE TOLKIEN EVER MADE ISN"T IT??? HE SUCKS! REALLY REALLY SUCKS! The hobbit and TOLKIEN!

Actually, the Greatest thing Tolkein ever made was his the Elvish language. It was his proudest achievement. Yep, he made an entire language. (he was a language professor, teaching Anglo-Saxon, Greek, and Latin). People who have heard it say it sounds like Celtish, but much more beautiful. It will be in the Lord of the Rings movie. (I can't f'ing wait to see that movie!)
His second best investion was the huge backstory to the Lord of the Rings that didn't involve hobbits at all! He made an entire book just to describe the history of the world he made! The Simrilion. The best of his books.
Here is how the rest of the list looks:
3) The one Ring
4) Sauron
5) The elves
6) Gandalf, and the 'mages'
7) Hobbits
So, even though one of the hobbits is the main charactor in the story, they aren't his greatest invention! They are just what puts the story together.
You have to read the book! It is excellent! Don't let your biases against hobbits keep you from reading the best book of the 20th century!

This man happened to create the whole fantasy genre and I don't mean the myths but as modern fantasy it is.
And if you don't know this Incubus you haven't read single INFO book.
He didn't write so much but with trilogy Lord of the rings he basically created everything. Of course, he did take many creatures from mythology and where ever he found them, changed them a little and voila...
People have always been interested about myths. They're the original stories and many of the creatures symbolize particular think in the world.
(Like dragons were symbol of evil in western mythology)
BUT
I believe that never would have reached fantasy the point as it is now without Tolkien.
One of the reasons we are here in this forum talking about fantasy themed computer game is Tolkien.
You above all Incubus who have told how much you love fantasy etc. should understand what kind of influence Tolkien had/has on fantasy.

I just think you all don't have the fantasy it takes.. To make your own stories... It's very simple. .Try it yourself.. If i want i can make a whole book myself.. WITH all creatures and even more creatures then tolkien.. Whaha TOLKIEN DIED BEFORE THE COMPUTER EVEN CAME on marked! LOOK AT GOD DAMN BLIZZARD!!! DIABLO!!! They made every creature themselves.. I respect that! Not some old guy that ruines everything i liked.... Without tolkien fantasy should maybe even became more famous and cool...
If it was not tolkien it was me who invented it..

Exactly!! You're helping my arguement. You always use the describtion of monsters from people who wrote this stuff a long time ago! I'm saying that we can make up monsters ourselves and use them.
So......... I'm making a male banshee. Done! Now I'm making all the Vampires female. Done! See, we don't need to rely on ancient describtions. For God's sake, those people didn't even bathe! Who cares if Titans were Gods to the Greeks? In HOMM, they are just another race of creature. Like the Angels in the game aren't dead people, but another race of creature. We make the rules! Boo-Yah!

There would be no Blizzard or Diablo without Tolkien.
Of course at present time anyone with even little imagination could write fantasy book.
But Tolkien was one of the first ones.
Maybe you won't get it, but Tolkien is mother and father of modern fantasy.
He was interested about old myths just like you, but he did it far before you...
I bow to Tolkien as everyone else should too.
(Incubus it's very wise to blame dead man stupid, it is easy, isn't it?)
I can say that I'm full of your ideas of what is right and wrong in fantasy.
When someone suggests something you're only answer is: no, no, no. Get a life. And try to read some more books too, story ones this time. The Hobbit is a good start.

Tolkien rox! However as the movie is coming.... who has seen that cartoon film of the Lord of the Rings. I have and it`s the best cartoon AND the movie I have seen....
Oh, Balrogs, Treants, Black Riders and Ogres are all cool creatures an invented by Tolkien.
And for that Banshee, here is some banshees even in Betrayal at Krondor (one of the best roleplaying games!).

Let's just say that the Dread Knights are a rip-off of one of Tolkein's creations. Guess you will have to hate them, too.
(Did someone beat you with The Lord Of The Rings book as a kid or something. It's really wierd to hate something you know nothing about. That's like me saying I hate Russia, yet I have never been there! [note: I like Russia])
The cartoon was okay, the movies are going to be great! They have handmade every piece of armor and weapons, some even with Elvish runes on them. They spent $600 million on making it! The only wierd part about it is that they are trying to make Arwyn more of a warrior. That doesn't seem right.
Hey! Wasn't this thread about Titans? I want Dragons to be the strongest, but I think 3do will make it Angels - Dragons - Titans. Oh, well. The dragons are up there.

More HUMAN being over here like elves dwarves hobbits and other human likes then the more cooler mythology creatures.. With so much people loving tolkien creatures the game will suck.. because they read this and then they see all you posting about how good the hobbits are.. and then they are in homm4 same with the other human likes of tolkien....
The undead knight??? I made a WHOLE new character of him myself.. i made him like the Headless knight in Sleepy hollow.. So Bye bye tolkien version INCUBUS changes all your creatures.. because i'm ANTI-tolkien...

Just for the record, this thread is about Titans.
I want to know, will there be Titans in Heroes 4? Will they replace the Giants, will they be the second option instead of Giants, or will there only be Giants? I think either of the first two would work.
There has to be Titans in a Heroes game!!! It's a tradition now!

I don't see much differents between a giant and A Titan.. The name is cooler and i really love the titan more.. I don't even count the level 1 creatures i only count the evolutions.. Like the medusa queen.. I hate the queen part but they always look cooler..

I don't get you people? WHy do you want a titan and a giant?????? they almost look the same? I heard the Giant has the thunder throw ability.. so calm down... The titan is just changed from name.. an doesn't have a sword anymore.. that's all.. I don't think they put in a giant and a titan... Because they stoped that stupid upgrade thing.....If they do such a thing ... i only think the Roc/Thunderbird Cerberus/Hell HOund Red Dragon/Black Dragon(looking different)Green And gold Dragon and the Earth And Magma Elemental should be BOTH in the game.. But all with very different names and different looks... Like the hell hound is on fire and the rock is black and has an evil vulture head like in simbad books... and the red dragons is even more stronger then black like in real mythology... and the black dragon has 2 heads...
