So in your denomination (which is completely different then stating "Christians" as your people) you have this code that what, everyone gets stamped on their head before entering the church so yo guys know who to go and biblically hang?

Don't bring the government up as some backbone to your already outlandish ways of trying to make the rest of us think is normal. Have your freaky code that you follow, but don't try to pass it of as some law to the rest of us sane individuals.

Shouldn't you be off somewhere saving seahorses or something?

Actually, in my local church all people are greated very warmly and treated very nice.  We volunteer at soup kitchens, provide aid for widows, and numerous other service projects.  I personally visit people at retirement communities and help with Campus Crusade at the local college.  We do not sugar coat the teachings of the Bible and that does offend some.  They find homes for themselves where ever the beliefs they want are taught.

Apparantly you knew all about that stuff anyways what with all the hangings, and witch burnings and everything you mentioned.

Look if a gay person came to you and said that they believe in God and that they were a good person, but they really believed that they were Gay; if they had no intentions of repenting because they don't feel that it is wrong, would you extend your hand to them, pee on them to put them out if they were to spontaneously combust in front of you?

Would help that widow out if they said to you that they worshiped the devil or did not believe in God at all and had no intent of doing so?

Not that I buy into the whole gays are sinners thing... cause I dont BUT To answer one thing, the way the bible teaches it, anyone who follows christ is a christian, be them non-denominational or catholic.

First off, anyone who comes up to me and says that they're a good person is lying because there are no good people.  That said I wouldnt' pee on them or hope they spontaneously combust.  I would however give them the gospel and if they still refused to repent of homosexuality, then I wouldnt' allow them to become members of my local church.

The Bible says that demons believe in God and shudder, so just because someone acknowledges that God exists doesn't mean anything.  At least not towards their salvation.

As far a helping a devil worshipping widow...  I would gladly support her so long as she allows us to.

This isn't really an issue of sin, the bottom line to sin is that all people are sinners and fall short of the glory of God.  The issue of Christians marrying people who aren't Christians is that they can't be both a Christian and a Jew.  Christians aren't supposed to be part of the world they live in.  However, this is getting into an area that would take an entire thread on it's own to discuss.

Claiming that I cause wars is rather ridiculous.  People who want to fight a war start wars.

you are still to prove that the Bible (which happens to be both OT and NT) is any sort of moral guide... half the things stated there as the "will of the Lord" would get people to jail nowdays

From Galations 5

13You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature[a]; rather, serve one another in love. 14The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself." 15If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

Life by the Spirit
16So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 17For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. 18But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.
19The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

Christians are not called to live under the OT law anymore, they are called to live by the Spirit of God, which is clearly laid out in this passage of Scripture.  Now tell me how a life like this is not a very good moral guide.

Shady makes me think of the following quote from the movie "Saved"

Quote:
Liz: "I am FULL of God's love!"  [Hits Mary over the head with her bible]

and my response is rather the same:

Quote:
Mary: [Hands bible to Liz] "This is not a weapon, you idiot."

Also, the helping Widows thing: Do you help Widowers?  If not, then you and/or your church are rampantly sexist.  Just because a person is a woman without a husband that does NOT mean she needs help.  Do you help old couples?

Also, here's my next question, why do you care?  I mean, it's like if you saw a person on the street smoking, and walked up to them and told them smoking was bad for their health.  If your close friend turned out to be gay, I can understand that you would care, but why do you care about random people on the street?

Also, do you realize that Jesus was probobally gay?

When it says that "all things have taken place"  you do know that he's referring to his death and resurrection right?  Jesus did come to fulfill the law, and by his death paid the wages of our sin... eternal seperation from God aka death.  Jesus did live under the OT law and was able to completely and perfectly follow it.  That's one reason why Christians believe in him as their saviour.

Basically, you took one verse out of it's proper context to make it seem like Christians still have to sacrifice bulls and stone people to death.

if you say so...

Timothy 3:16
"All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness..."

2 Peter 20-21
"Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation, for no prophecy ever came through human will; but rather human beings moved by the holy Spirit spoke under the influence of God."

Mark 7:10
"Whoever curses father or mother shall die"

This is an awesome discussion.

Also, my first (and pretty much only) movie crush was on Willow Rosenberg, who turned out to be gay.

Also, does anyone else think Daniel Radcliffe is gay?

definately.

saying that being gay is wrong because it says in the bible "Men who lie with another man should be stoned" doesn't really have an effect. that phrase could mean that they should lighting up the old spliff. they did have drugs back then, quite a few in isreal.

There is no "gay should be stoned" part in the bible, at least not in Polish translation. It says that gay sex disgusts God, and a few worse things, but I don't recall any murderous texts. I do not understand why God finds that a sin, and I probably never will, oh well. Even as a Christian, I just don't get that part.

The way I have understood it, is that all spiritual paths tend to think that too active sexuality hinders the aims of individual in becoming "enlightened" or whatever they call it. I doubt that originally there was nothing considered inherently wrong about being a gay - just the idea of fulfilling your sexual desires at a whim.

Lust is the (deadly) sin. Not being gay.

If we're talking about Bible, it encourages ppl to find partners if they need it. If find anything in that enormous book was easier, I'd quote that part for you

Still i don't get the homosexual part.

I don’t want to be impertinence (I just register  to your  forum and  force in yours  opinions) but I think that telling what God would say, and what he wouldn’t say is a  waste of time, because we don’t know that.  If someone is untolerant than you cannot  force him  to make up his decisions, believes . The gays are treated like some handicaps people who need defence. I think that people should give a damn about everything the others said. I mean that people laugh about everything: gays, your weight, you’re believes etc, and we cannot do anything to make them stop. We can only don’t bother this .Just more distance ) Sorry for the mistakes
