Good idea Athimus Phaeni. (I don't think that's hard to spell. It's easier than Sephiroth.)I'd also like to discuss the battle tactics a bit before we start battle. But this won't come into major play until we get some high-level spellcasters.
For example: If you spot a couple aggressive enemies in the distance and they have no ranged weapon, it would be a good idea to get off a couple ranged attacks before you meet them in melee combat. This is the situation we had now. But what if some thieves snuck up out of the shadows and (tried to) backstab(ed) us. What would we do then?
I think that after we get a few practice situations we can establish our own style and response to each one the way we would like to.
However unique situations like bosses or really hard battles should probably require decisions throughout the battle by the users.
Had we fought the Goblins with each member posting each round, it would have taken maybe over a week. And what if one member is gone for a couple days. This shouldn't hold up the entire thread. Basically this cut down the time/posts it took for everyone to post once and get back to role-playing. Ideally, I can post that enemies have been sighted, wait a day and run auto-combat.
I have another important question. What should we do if someone dies? I feel that if someone dies the combat should stop immediately allowing every character to make a decision of what to do.

Dont have death then. When you run out of HP you faint.
Wel i think the auto combat idea is great because i havnt been on HC for 3 days before today so i wouldnt have been able to post in the battle.
I have a couple of questions. If we are hurt in battle do those wounds stay with us or do they heal straight away? How much HP do I (and everyone else) have? how much experience until we go up a level?

I posted everyone's HP in the regular thread at the top my post with the auto-combat. I gave everyone a roll to determine your HP. Everyone will have at least 5 HP plus their dice roll. Fighters roll a ten-sided die. Clerics roll an eight-sided die. Thiefs roll a six-sided die. And mages roll a four-sided die. If you have high Constitution then you get a bigger bonus.
Fighter needs 2000 experience.
Cleric 1500
Thief 1250
Mage 2500
Ranger 2250
If you are a multi class, then the experience will be divided up evenly amongst your classes. For determining HP in this thread for multi-class, I rolled one die for each class and divided by the number of classes to find your HP bonus.
Example: Player X
5 HP base
Fighter - 10 sided rolled a 4
Cleric - 8 sided rolled an 8
4 + 8 = 12
12 / 2 = 6
5 + 6 = 11 HP
Constitution 18 gives a +4 bonus to your HP for each level. So Player X gets 15 HP.
I will update our list of characters along with their stats. You can find this at the bottom of the second post in this thread. It's underneath the weapons, armor, and spell lists.

Quote: If we are hurt in battle do those wounds stay with us or do they heal straight away?
I think we should stay injured.
Quote: How much HP do I (and everyone else) have?
RedSoxFan3 posted in the battle post. Your HP depends on your class, level and constitution. I didn't understand how RSF calculated our HP, since we are all still Level 1, and nobody should had more than 14 points(my HP, since I am a fighter and I receive a +4 bonus). Consult the link RSF posted in the first post of this thread for better understanding.
Quote: how much experience until we go up a level?
There is a table for that. It isnt in the FAQ, maybe RSF could put it in the first posts of this threads, so it would be easier to everybody see.

Quote: I don't think that's hard to spell. It's easier than Sephiroth
Because you are used to it(at least you should, I have been post here for about a year and seven months). But in the "New GAME: --> Make D&D characters for your handles! =)" thread, the players almost always mispelled

I couldn't remember how the first level started. And it didn't say anything in the link I created. I wanted everyone to get a good start on HP, so I did it this way. In my first post there is a section I wrote on the effects of constitution. There I said that you would assume that if you were level 0 you would have 5 HP and had leveled up to level 1. I felt it was easier this way.
I am unfamiliar with the Proper Way of calculating everyone's HP for the first level. How would you have calculated everyone's HP? I could probably go back and change it. It should affect the battle. I was only dealt 7 damage... And I'm a fighter-cleric with 18 constitution so there shouldn't be a problem with me having enough HP.
As for the levels of experience...
For the first few levels everything doubles.
Example:
Level 1 Thief: 1250
Level 2 Thief: 2500
Level 3 Thief: 5000
Level 4 Thief: 10000
Level 1 Fighter: 2000
Level 2 Fighter: 4000
Level 3 Fighter: 8000
Level 1 Cleric: 1500
Level 2 Cleric: 3000
Level 3 Cleric: 6000
If anyone knows that this is incorrect please tell me.

You calculated in the right way. I just didn't know how you had done it. We posted at the same time, so my post wasn't "after" yours.

And I forgot the +5 bonus, very useful for mages.

I think the auto-combat is great. I get on sporadically, 25 posts one day and none the next few days, so that would be good. As for the HP and stuff, I think HP losses should remain until the next time you: 1. stop by an inn. 2. get healed by a spell. 3. Die. As for dieing, I think we should do it the Baldur's Gate way: When a character runs out of HP, they are "dead". The auto-combat ends and each character makes a decistion: continue fighting or flee. Majority vote wins. As for reviving the "dead" characters, you must go to to a Santcum where you can pay money to ressurect dead characters. You can also pay to heal there and other stuff like that. In addition, you may donate gold to attempt to raise your Reputation. I also think that yes, we should have random battles like that periodically (every other day?) As for plot, maybe we could find some village being oppressed by a tyrant and beat the tyrant for the first boss scenario to get used to fighting bosses? I think that, during boss fights, we pause once a round to enable us to make a decision on what to do.
As for the weapons, I think that it would be interesting the different weapon types should be able to attack differently: Close Combat weapons should be able to attack the unit directly in front of them, (1 range) with the expection of spears, which have a 2 range. Magic changes depending on the spell, and Slings, Long bows and Short bows should have 2 range, Composite Long Bow a 3 range, and Throwing Daggers and such a 2 range.
Granted, the bows have to small of a range, but this is just an idea. We probably won't use this anyway.

Instead of everyone saying:
"Sorry for using your character"
"Just some words"
"May I use your character for a little bit?"
.
.
.
I will just say once and for all: There is no problem in using my character for some words or actions. It is impossible to play a RPG in a forum just playing your character, there is no action in this.
But, please, when you "use" my char, just remember that he is a dwarf with 8 points in charm. In other words: He is agressive, rude and not very thankful. But he is loyal to his friens, and he wont betray them.

Good idea. The same goes for me, except for the fact that I'm an Elf and a bit of a wise-guy, but I do know my stuff. I'm not really evil, but I'm no paladin either.

Maybe everyone should give a short description of their character's temperament in case someone needs to use them for a scene.
My character is a hotheaded and greedy ranger, but a smooth talker at the same time (18 charm). He can cover up his impetuous nature if the situation calls for it, but he tends to lose his cool in situations that aggravate him.

I think yes, for you being too carismatic. I don't think your character is able to have such leadership, but I don't care about it... you can keep being nice
Well, I am rude, and aggressive, but I think I could make some jokes.

I've been trying to be a leader to add to the plot of the story.
I'll try to do less leading from now on and use more subtle means of adding plot.
Edit: I'd also ask that everyone at least make a small post in the regular thread as often as possible. Athimus said earlier that threads often die, because no one posted. Just let us know that you are still here enjoying the thread.

This character is Nidhgrin. However, he seems to have lost interest in the thread. I'm not sure what his purpose was. He seemed to be a person who hated mages. I'm guessing he was going to join us because we were hunting a mage as well. But that doesn't matter much now, because he's gone.

Just a few tips for Isildur:
You can't be a ranger with only 4 in WIS and INT. WIS is imperative for a ranger since he's gonna need at least 11 to cast any ranger spell at all. He also needs several skills which has WIS as key ability - like survival. I think you should make a fighter instead maybe....
Assuming you're using the d&d system.....
BTW... can I still join this RPG?

Sure, you can join Planeswalker.
Just create your character. You will need to read up on the main thread to get aquainted with the plot thus far. If you join, please try to post at least every couple days just to let us know you are still here reading the thread even if you don't add to the plot or anything. It is more important that the members continue to post actively otherwise the thread will die.
When I wrote up the thread, I gave everyone a roll of 78, however most people made rangers. Rangers need higher rolls, because their stats demand more than the average character.
Rangers usually roll in the high 80's. However for this thread, he doesn't need high wisdom yet, because he hasn't reached high levels. When wisdom starts becoming important, I will just give people items that raise their wisdom.
