all i can see on this thread is n00bidity and angelito's detective work.think someone should do something against this. so:
Conflux it's banned from online playing, and for good reasons that have been explained earlier in this thread.I've played by this rule long before i joined the community, this meaning that people aren't influenced by someone's oppinion abut this castle, but convinced about the unbalance it brings to the game by their own experience;so anyone who doubts this FACT should at least take the time and play a little more in their intimate enviroment before stepping out and insulting people here.I find the "tactic section" in this thread where two skilled veterans are struggling to explain the porpouse of waiting in battle, rather amusing, to say the least...
Tactics about playing(against)Conflux have been issued in different threads(see table of contents for that), so first read and then speak!
I appologize to both Angelito and Sir Stiven on behalf of all noobs(me included) who ask the stupidest questions(i don't know where do you guys find the patience for that).
Note to any mod who seez this:{sorry for being off topic}

well, i agree with jok3r, actually conflux is gay, the NVC probably lacked of fantasy by adding the 9th town, and the result is clear...imho using correctly stronghold would over power them, by using EXPERT TACTICS, OFFENSE and EXPERT AIR MAGIC(haste), barbs dont need magiks, only to enhance their own troops
+ the conlux is very pricy, cant understand why ya all whining of that conflux
+ its like telephone imho, one said:'conflux is friggin strongest' and all others dont even have their opinion.
How do i think of ot?simply just chated to one of msn gaming zone players,i asked him why conlux is banned he replied that it the strongest castle...

Think about Conflux in terms of usefulness.
Level 1 pixies get upgraded cheaply and you have a speed 9 unit that offers no retaliation. You can easily beat slow moving stacks that are guarding mines. You will be able to take crypts with just faeries.
Furthermore, if you upgrade your level 2 and 3 creatures, you have shooters. If you are playing a tough random map on 160%, you tend to rely on your low level creatures to clear the area in the first week or two, unless you're fortunate to get 4-5 level 6 creatures.
Now, ignore buying the level 4 and 5 creatures, and go straight for Magic Elementals and Phoenix. Again, the Elementals offer another unit with no retaliation, then have a multi-hex attack with good speed, and finally you have 4 Phoenix per week with Castle.
Should you get attacked, you simply buy the level 4 and 5 creatures to protect. They are pretty sturdy, and with a castle and magic, you should be able to defend.

I´m playing a fun game 2vs2 right now with Dark_Y0uth as ally (had to save on friday), where one team plays necro, the other team conflux.
Should be a funny game i think. Last time i played conflux was about 2 years ago i think, so i really forgot how STRONG this castle is.
I beated 16 behemots in first fight and 9 chaos hydras in second fight on day 8 only with level 1 and level 2 units without any losses.
Is there any other town u would really try that?...

I'm not sure if Tigris thought I was being offensive or rude (I'm sorry that was not my intention) it's just that saying that one team is the best is a very dangerous statement. There's a lot to think about when "determining" the best team. That's all. I just don't like conflux. So maybe my statement isn't fair either, but I wanted to clear that up.

I know for sure that if you were to kill 16 beths with just storms and pixies i wouldnt play you again as those fights problably would have taken a game worth of time

Since Xarfax gave us this "Cranim.txt" file, and Ironwill and TEL freshed it up a bit more (zombies walk like centaur captains now..), those fights don´t last that long anymore....
And 145 Pixies + 32 Stormelementals with bless do a good job..

Like the "rmg.txt" file, this "Cranim.txt" file is also extracted from a bigger file (i think a "*.lod" file..).
In this file, the animation and movement speed of every unit is written. So when u change the numbers, u can change the speed.
Means, u can let a walking undead move with the same speed like an Archangel, but his range will stay the same, he just moves "faster", but not "further"..
So when u fight against 7 stacks of walking undead, and cast expert slow, they move only 1 hex, and they make their moves veeeery slow. With this file, they also move only 1 hex, but with the speed of an Archangel. So all 7 stacks speed up in every round. Saves LOT of battle time...
This file also has to be placed in the data directory.

Yes Angelito I would try that fight with grand elves and centaur captains if I have mass slow anytime. Harpy Hags do the work too. So do marskmen. I know, I know. Expert earth is easier to get with conflux.

We talked about level 1 and level 2 units....so you would have to fight with centaur captains and......battle dwarves....
To be serious.....
I think a fight with marksmen and halbadiers would be very tough, coz u only have speed 5 (6) for your hand-to-hand unit....so it will be hard to "flee" with such a stack after some rounds...and marksmen do a lot less damage than stormies do though (3 with bless, stormies 8).....i´m not sure u will win this fight, coz the behemots were splitted in 5 stacks.....
With rampart, it could be done, coz captains have high speed....but still u r limited with your fodder getting the retaliation of the behemots...there comes a point, where u have to hit the behemots with your main stack first, then u will lose some (much) army.....still i think it´s also very tough.

heh u can take out 16 behies with 2 sprites (behhie has 7 speed?? cant remember)... sure would take quite some days but..

Actually i don't think this would work, cos when facing 2 sprites, the behemots will surely be splitted in 7 stacks, so it won't be long until they'll control the whole combat screen

Nope Klauts you can't. Even if you wear the spirit of oppression, they will corner you (SoP + Mass Slow or Mass Slow + Mass Sorrow is enough though).
85 pikemen, 33 marksmen with 7/4/5/3 Orrin, basic leader, adv archery, expert earth, basic water against 16 behemoths (7 stacks, 1 upgraded) is a massacre. I did not even lose all of my fodders.
