i mean their kids make paper-cubes in 5th grade ... learn "spelling" in i-don't-know-which grade ... in Romania in 5th grade you know to write, speak , spell , bla bla .... and about geography .... americans & geography are like Pirahnas with shotguns ....

I should hope you can read write and spell by grade 5.. geeze, by grade five I was learning a bunch of weird things, but we had to be able to read write and do multiplications and divisions before we could leave grade 3.
if you cant read by the time you are in grade 5 you will never learn to read, my little cousin whos in grade 1 can read (i never checked if he could write, im a babysitter not a teacher  )
p.s. I assumed by Americans you mean the American people, not North Americans. sorry if that changes anythin  jerk! lol

Romania produced RAV antivirus( which was bought last year by americans), AVX antivirus is mad also by romanians, many, many romanian students are beeing offered places to study in great ameican and english univesities. Also let me present you the most recent example: a girl from Romania, was presented on TV with the fact that she won the first place from world at the mathematics olypmics. Also one more thing. At the computers programming contest from world-wide Americans take the first place and romanians the second, and even somethimes the first place. Now let me present you my computer: Celeron 566 Mhz, Nvidia Vanta 32MB, 128 SDRAM PC100, 10GB Seagate(having this one from 1999 and haven't made any upgrades). And I have only 17 years and I'm working as a web-designer for a local company , started just 3 days ago, making cool stuff in Flash MX( i'll launch my site in a few days). And why do I do it? So that I could go to a damn rock fetival, to get some damn 30$!!! Selling my intellingence for 30 damn $!!! For a full website americnas get 15000$ at least, when romanians get 500$, but are the same quality. Now that I call IGNORANCE!!! So let me redifine your phrase: WHY DO WE NEED HUMANS THAT DON"T LEAVE IN U.S.!!!

Weel.. He really got that wrong.. I know how to read from the age of 5 and to write from 8. And I'm considered a middle student, having also an IQ of 121 or something bigger then 120.
But you should read my last thread and see real stuff there, not reading and writing. I pressume almost anyone can read and write by the age of 9.

I never realized how manyy ignorant people there were until I came online calling every American fat & ignorant & everythang else that goes with it because they think we support our president & govt 100%.
How stupid can people be. I call it Jealousy.
It's called Money which our greedy govt charges a bundle to buy books to even go to school.
Why do you think our presidents suck, because if a president actually gave a hoot about us people, they get assacinated for it,The Govt dont want change, they want thier money & will charge even more then an arm & a leg.
You think most of us can fly out to ROmania or any other place, you got to be kidding, you have to be literally rich to even do that because it costs so much for a one way.
Kids why dont you use your own judgements & brains instead of listening to your parents whines about the past.

I’m from Macedonia. I know what you want to say, but I see you don’t get what I want to say. Romania is (how should I put this diplomatically).. well, not excessively important country and if it wasn’t for that “idiot”, even those people who have heard of Romania wouldn’t have heard. Don’t you fantasize that Romania is very important and USA wont survive without you (military bases? Come on!). There aren’t only brain farms in Eastern Europe, but also Asia, India etc. They will continue to get ready-made intelligence, and just “implement” it in the capitalist money-making machine. And the exact reason is that any sane person when offered like 100 times money for the same job, he would take that offer. And we’re going to continue licking their asses, and provide them with the toilet paper after that. And say “thank you!”. (the polite american way)

Btw, it’s not north-east (that would be Thrace). It’s north. And it’s only a half of the territory of the region of Macedonia. The rest of it being the Republic of Macedonia and a small part of Bulgaria.
But I guess that’s only one other segment of Western history and hypocrisy that we should say “thank you” for.

*sighs* Some people round here need to spend less time on rampant nationalism and more on detecting sarcasm and humour when it's sent their way, it would save them time...
Btw, the Macedonian bit of Greece happens to be North East of a good chunk of it I also happen to know quite a bit about the various bits of what people call "macedonia" since I happen to read about these things. Don't let these facts get in the way of your little rant about what you expect us westerners to know though
Hypocrisy would be if we DIDN'T find these conflicting views out, some of us do, so pull your head back in for a change

Yeah... And why not just talk about India as the country of Kama Sutra.. You know there are many more things about Romania then Dracula.. Really... I hate the fact that people only hear Romania only from Dracula... That is pure fantasy.. Why let's take Russia didn't became the country of vampires? Ignorance is only perspective anyway. You say its bad that americans(we can include canada to, it's america jr. donchaknow) don't know world geography, maybe most americans don't care about where other countries are, chances are most american will never go there anyway.
Americans care about things that are really important, like how to rebuild their '79 Nova, or the batting averages of every baseball player in the Major League.
You assume that geography is somehow more valuable, then you degrade americans because they don't share this view. This is more arrogant than anything that you accuse americans of being.
We (in general) don't really care what the rest of you are doing.
How many native Languages do your country's schools have deal with? In american schools we have students who speak: English, Spanish, Russian, Ukraine(might be same as russian), Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, Tongan, Samoan, Various Native american languages, Japanese, Arabic, Italian, German, Canadian(very close to English), Cambodian, Thai, Phillipino, Guamese, Portugese, and I'm leaving some out. We don't need to know about the rest of the world...the rest of the world is coming here.

then ill personally dare any of you to put out all the nations and capitals which seems to matter so much in africa. Shouldnt be that tough huh concidering all of your excellent geography.
I dont like the ignorant american more then you do, put if you think all americans are this way or your educational system is much better because of your geography skills then its rather you who needs to get your heads out from the sandbunkers.
Attacking someone for being ignorant while being a leading example isnt the way to go.
IMO this thread just seem to be made for little people to ventilise their opinions on how bad and stupid america are. Atleast have the guts to say it right out by yourself instead of hiding behind 10 others saying the same in some bad attempt of a discussion thread.

I said this before but it bears repeating, all the hate is coming in one direction, towards the USA(we don't really care enough to hate back). Aquamen: I am really wondering.... What I would choose?! Poverty, but lot of knowledge or Richness, but no knoledge(except my domain of expertise).
P.S. Has any one of you had an ideea, that Mircea Eliade died leading the indianistic university from Chicago. You had no ideea, that one of the most interesting writers from Romania and one of the best specialits in indianitic in the world was teaching your students( beacuse of the communists), but you surely know about Dracula. Also did you know that every year at least 10 students from Romania are called by the topest universities in U.S.to study there?
