WTF? I said that the hydra DID appear in HoMM1. Learn to read, sucka 
And the twohex crits that first appeared in HoMM2 are:
Nomad
Bone Dragon
Medusa
Roc
Boar
Between HoMM2 and 3, Nomad remained neutral and was joined there by Boar. Bone Dragon remained with the Necros, while Medusa joined Dungeon and Roc joined Stronghold.
I guess it's Medusa.
