Division campaign's reward.

I'd like to speake about division points...

50 points looks good & even nearly "unnecessary" for players of a "middle" ranks, such as lieutenants (it is only one win over any colonel). But what about our very-top list. The win in division campaign gives you 50 points if you are a similar member & 100 points if you are a general... So, Let's look at our top5.

Give me a reason to play similar toh games & earn 5-6 points after killing a colonel (having a risk of loosing 45), if i can create 3-4 divisions or take part in a strong division & after becoming a top-player i can forget about toh games & cut my points off from divisions, sitting in my armchear & drinking "Vodka-Martini"? So like Frank & Vaselin do.
How many similar toh games did thay play last 2 mnths? 1 or 2, i guess ZERO. I'm not trying to say "Thay R weak". I did my first division for my glass of "Vodka-Martini" too )
The only thing i want to say that 50 or 100 points it is too huge advantage for top players.

Ex: I played Frank twice & i was not weaker. Our points were equel... Than i was out from AfD & for two mnths I was playing only for toh about 60 games with about 50 wins - 10 losses result & my rating groth for about 100 points. (It is great result when you are 2000+)
AfD wins 4 campaigns(200pts) - Frank's rating is ~110 points over mine now. With no similar toh games (risk) for him at all.
Such situation is with Vazy. With 1 correction - he is a general so +100 points each campaign including another general. I want to add that there is no such points penalty if you loss your division campaign. So no risk at all!

So, with 50(100) points bonus all toh becoming a division campaign. It means if you are not from a strong division you have NO chances to be the first!

I guess that reward must be about 15(30) points to toh, same to Hall of Fame & lot of different medals & bages!

I don't want to change all those things about points, but AIR has one good point: maybe losing a campaign should cost points to the cap and/or general, I think that's a suggestion worth thinking about.

And one more thing about division rewards. (Final)

Is it honorable that prestige points of a division doesn't going to zero each season?

So, if you want to be in a final i've got to take the most prestige division & just wait for final round .

And no chances to be in a final for new divisions with 0 prestige points in the start even they will win over 5 campaigns a season!

too late to complain... wont matter

At this point it doesnt really matter, at the end of TOH closing here.   In homm4, Divisions is pretty different, when it comes to several rules.  There will still be ranking bonuses, but artifacts are weaker and lords-landholding based.

Rules for divisions arent written in stone yet for homm4, so I recommend putting such discussion in the TOH divisions homm4 topic.

Actually AIR the biggest fault if any is in the divsions set up is that each division was permitted to hold all the top players with no restrictions.

I.E. the top 5 TOH ranked players should not be permitted to play as a monopoly powerhouse in 1 division.  Now dont get me wrong I am not crying cause they are strong.  Theya re all good and hats off to them, I wish I was that good.  BUT I think it takes from the feel and intention of divisions and the differnet ranks. I think in HOMM4 each ranked spot should be held by a member of such rank.  For example ONLY a Capt can hold rank of Capt  and a only a Colonel can hold rank of General.  And all rest of division is made up of Lt. and Sarg and Cadets.

This would make divisions more diverse and much more realistic.  This would also solve your problem of having a powerhouse division just sitting back and raking in 50(100) pts because of 2-3 Generals in 1 division doing all the work.

But as Ves said its to late for season 3, hopefully this type of thing is thought of in season 4.

Also I do agree with ya Air that the higher ranked you get the harder it should be to obtain the goodies.

records are a pretty good indication of things though

Look at the records.  I think the top ranking people have defended their titles well enough to earn their ranks.  If others want the extra points for playing in divisions then they can create them.  Divisions are always open to people making their own and thus receiving all the rewards for that too.

The points are one of the strong encouragements for divisions to campaign against one another.  Divisions is the heart of TOH and do you remember when almost all free challenge games were put to a stop for a while.  Still only division players were allowed to continue at that time.

And if Im not mistaking Frank didnt play division all season 2, and still ended up nr 2 on the ranking page. After Antal who incidently didnt play division either.
So I guess Frank allready proved that he could hold his spot without having extra goodies from div.

And then theres also the possibility that u loose to a cadet who gets 4 starting arties in a div game. Im guessing none of ur 60 games AIR have been with anyone ranked below Captain Cept offcourse the div games in those 60 matches

i guess a good way to equalize it for you AIR would be to play Frank a couple of times a get some of those points if you really want them that much.

I am sure he would be happy to play you since you are close to him in points and 3 wins over him would take care of all the points he got for his division wins

And since you say you dont feel he is superior then if I were you I would try to play all my games with frank where the rewards are so much greater then risks

No Defreni, i lossed to Lightfighter5 & lossed about 50 points, then even if i played with captain 1500 points, i'm lossing 45 points. & there were many of them. Anyway it is not interesting for you to play with cadet when you R 2000+. I played with one of them. He made save on my turn, & then shouted that i was cheated... It is bored & you know that! That's why you question was like a surprise for me, you do not looking like a fool, man!

You are right, Maxym, but since our too games on B4H, he rejected all my reqests to play.

& Defreni, one more, a risk of loosing 50 points with cadet is not a risk at all, bc you will get those points back after winning the division war, & 1 loss is maximum in division campaign

And guess what.......
For the first time ever did I loose all my towns and heroes. I was literally decapitated
Well Im still hoping Titan can pull it off for us, but what the hell, its just -45 points if he cant

Defreni
(Who thinks points are nice, but definetly NOT the point off playing a game)

P.S It was a fun game, thats the point of playing

AIR - no risk at all?  While you write good things about div points not being realistic and crap about me, I was risking my points a lot more than you`ll ever be able to do for the rest of HOMM3 season.  Play Mocara on random and risk 65 points or Petrus/Dix_ef/zonekill/maxym/ etc... for 40 points.  I`ll spare you the details of my numerous clan games.  Finally, remove all my div points I got and all those everyone got, including you, and my lead for first would be even greater.

Now you can focus on writing all your positive stuff there:

- Frank, do not kidding me, i'm the next after you, thats why every day i'm looking on my scores & yours one, so i know what i say about number of your SIMILAR toh games
& my points are about 100 less then yours, so i risked thousends times more playing with G_Kolh (1025pts) on battlemania - (LUCKY MAP), also playing with MANY others...
not only with top list (Petrus/Dix_ef/zonekill/maxym/)

If you dont like it......

A_I_R_1    i see you are obviously a very skilled player by your ranking. But dont forget why you play this game...  for fun.  Try not to criticize someone elses playing schedule.  If someone manages to reach the top spot and quit playing, they can. If they wish to play `xxx' person they can, they can play whomever whenever they wish.

You seem quite driven to reach the top spot based on your posts,  you may reach it. But then you may not, but why not just play and have fun and not worry about the little things like pts.

I used to be very very concerned with how i was doing in the points even though i never made it above sergeant.  Now i play anyone at all and just have fun doing it, it is much more fun that way (for me at least).

If you R registered in toh ... it means that points is not Last thing for you Or you can also play for fun in zone.

That's why i'm discribing some unbalanced point system in Tournament of Honour.

P.S. if you R registered it means that your rating is not only an air for you Thats why the name of this system is TOURNAMENT !!!

risking it all

i understand AIR's concern but i dont think it should be such a great deal, i have risked over 60+ points routinely and came close to losing few times. You can check it on my page But if you really are a good player this will not be a problem for you, you will win those games.

I think more important is realizing that there is a great honor in not avoiding your losess to lower ranks. I have heard it many times when a veteran intimidated a new guy into not reporting. So if you happen to get smoked for 60+ hey suck it up and make it back even if you will need 10 wins in a row

You are rihgt, Maxym, but in this Post i'm trying to say that with such great division (UNRISKING) points as a reward you havn't need to play regular toh matches at all.

Even you  are not interested in regular ones, bc regular games becoming like a unexplaineded risk (Risk that can not be explained). Division points strategy makes you stay away from similar toh games, you must be really mad, having 2500 point & #1, to play with #2 who is only 2100 ;P

Do you understand my point of view, Maxym?

about Maxym

About Maxym, he is in the middle of a game with me that we started a few weeks back.  If I win it, which I hope for and seem to be in a good position to do, he will lose a lot of points.  He undertook this game with me when I was either a very low sergent or cadet.  I am sure we will one day finish the game as soon as I have a chance.  He also took a position on the map that he had never played btw.  Honestly I was suprised he wanted to play with me for such a risk.

His senario is that he basically played a blind side of a map....not using the editor much either I don't think, but I sure told him to.  He played this in the risk of about 70 points.  I felt bad even starting the game actually.

I think that his attitude toward playing that I have mentioned above is mostly what his point is about.
