I honestly cannot believe why anyone would vote for Kerry. He's the biggest slimeball. His opinion is the one that will win him the next election. He never attended Congress sessions, missing over 70%. He was even on the committee to help fight terrorism, but he never attended a meeting for like two years. This guy doesn't care about anything except getting into office.

So far I haven't seen him really do anything other than give his bullsnow speech about he went to Vietnam. Well guess what he went there with a video camera planning this entire thing to come out of the war like a hero. The guy got 3 purple hearts without ever being hospitalized. And further investigation may reveal that he had tampered with military records to make his record look better. Is this completely immoral, narcissistic man someone you want in office. The answer had better be no.

Just a few weeks ago, Kerry gave a big campaign speech in So. Carolina about how George Bush was killing jobs and that there was a huge job crisis in South Carolina. Well guess what South Carolina has a lower unemployment rate than before 9/11. It had the most growth over the last few quarters in a very long time.

Edit - Here's another thing. For those of you who are complaining about staying in Iraq and that the efforts are useless. We are making progress and I don't here anyone complaining about how we are still in Kosovo and have made virtually no progress. Why isn't anyone complaining about that?

Oh Joy, consider Bush and his administation then:

Doesn't want to upset the Gun Lobbyists so doesn't want to renew the Assault Weapons ban
Spent the Vietnam War in the national guard flying a soon to be obselete jet and possibly skipping out of even that
Thinks the economy is best served by giving tax breaks... which at absolute best affected 25% of the population favourably? (coincidentally a survey said also that 49% of households felth their taxes had gone UP since 2001).
Has alienated many of those who gave genuine support after 9/11 and to some degree isolated the US over Iraq
Thinks that fighting the war on terror is served by invading Iraq (which had nothing to do with 9/11) whilst allied to Saudi Arabia (which indirectly did)
Went to the UN with "evidence" of WMDs and ridiculed the UN inspectors only to find... nothing

I guess I could think of more. Frankly I'd have trouble choosing who to vote for out of either of these two. As I heard somewhere, It's like choosing between someone who's braindead, and someone else who's merely in a coma...

Oh and btw Redsox, I hope you don't base your opinions on Kerry's Vietnam Career on those idiots in the Swift Boat ads. I'd also venture to suggest that the reason no-one complains about Kossovo is simple, how often does American servicemen die there? That's your answer then...

My, my, RSF.  I always wondered how Republicans fail to understand that half of Americans (or more) disagree with them on key issues.  What I really can't understand is the "if you don't agree with me you must be an idiot" attitude.  That's really offensive, but common coming from the right.  What I liked about your post was that you admitted, straight out, that you don't understand how your opponents think.  That's honest and wise.  It's very clear you don't understand how at least half of America would prefer to elect the distinguished Senator you call a "slimeball."

Btw, it's not a good idea to watch so much Fox News.  A non-partisan poll from a respected polling corporation showed that Fox viewers are more than 10 times as likely to make simple errors of fact about the state of the world (like whether or not the US found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq) than those who get their news from PBS or NPR.  At worst, Fox is the official propaganda outlet of the Republican party.  At best, it's not very good about reporting the news.

As for who's gonna win, the race, sadly, is too close to call at the moment.  Those of us on the left felt there was no way that Bush could beat Gore in 2000, and Bush lost in the vote totals, after all.  Nevertheless, Bush is President.  For this reason, we're very leery of making predictions this time around.

Have a nice day.

Just as common, if not more common from the left.
By the way, Kerry is hardly distinguished.
I think I understand your problem with Fox, correct me if I'm wrong.  ('m sure you will anyway)  You don't like it because, unlike CNN and such, it offers points of view from both sides not just the left slant.  I guess when one is used to a liberal bias, anything closer to center looks like conservative bias.  And it's not propaganda, that's a ridiculous thing to say.

LOL!  I'm sure we'll have to agree to disagree on the nature of Fox's "Fair and Balanced" reporting.  Anybody who watches Fox a little will see that the supposed liberals they hire are generally weak and ugly while the conservatives are strong and attractive.  And it's common knowledge that the intent of Fox News is to make Republicans look good while making Democrats look bad.  No other major American news network actively engages in this kind of intentionally biased behavior.  America would be well-served if more people saw the movie Outfoxed which addresses this issue.

And as for being distinguished, Kerry has served the people of America in either the armed services or political office for most of his adult life.  The President, on the other hand, did everything he could to not serve his country in Vietnam.  His only other contribution to public service was his disastrous one-term stint as Governor of Texas.  And if you ask me, his Presidency has been a demonstrated dis-service to the American people.

But, as I said, I'm sure we'd best just agree to disagree.

Hi, Iīm German so I canīt vote in your election, but I cannot understand the Americans. In Germany and all over Europe Bush wonīt get more then 10 Percent, because he is a murderer and a liar. And nothing more. He is arrogant against his Alies, thinks he is the one, who is able to say whats good and what is evil, he is a religious fanatic. Things like Kerrys Vietnam time also wouldnīt interest anyone. anyone. When I see your election and your TV show like paty meetings (sorry, I donīt know the word), everywhere Flags and Nationalism I always think they will scream Sieg Heil in the next two seconds. I see it just in our News, but this is the impression I have from your policy. I think your elction system is a bit strange, because smaller parties donīt have any chance (in Germany paries have to build coalitions). Donīt be angry, just my two cents as Non-American

If the election were held today, then Bush.

If Kerry wants to win, he needs to lose the all-too-common Democrat 'nice guy' approach to his campaign and grow a pair.

Republicans are famous for their lying and twisting of facts.

Case in point.

Early in the campaign, a Bush ad ran on television stating that Kerry voted against a bill that would have supplied state of the art body armor for the troops in Iraq.  What a crock of **** that is.  Fact is, Republicans attache amendments to bills that are so outrageous Dems cannot possibly in good conscience vote for them.

These so-called Swift Boat Veterans are the same group that called voters in South Carolina during the Republican Primary of 2000, telling them that John McCain adopted a black baby.  First of all, this is racial demogoguery of the worst order.  Secondly, he did adopt a black baby--from Bangladesh!!!  So fricking what!!

Republicans, in their successful bid to oust Max Cleland as a senator from Georgia, painted him as a Saddam lover because he did not vote yes to all the provisions of the Homeland Security Act.  When asked why he didn't he responded, "I did not serve in Vietnam, losing limbs, just to come back and strip over 110,000 federal workers of their job protection."

Yes America, these are the dirtbags you are electing to office.  Kerry, unfortunately, is going the way of Dukakis.  He's a smart, intelligent man who is reeling from Republican bs.

You call him a flip-flopper?  I say he understands political nuances and the compromises one has to make to promote good policies.

But until he can show that to the American public, grab the campaign by the horns, and bring in good ol' James Carville, he's going to lose.

And that will be a sad day in America, and the rest of the world.

Plus, there was some confusion about the bill -- it was presented after Bush told everybody that the mission in Iraq was already accomplished, so nobody could figure out what the money was for.

I Wish....

.....For peace of mind in times of distress. I also wish for no more than a single source of trust. Let my emotions be blind and my mind filled with clarity. On the end of my tether should I have but one last wish. See me then as Cinna the poet, yet treat me not as he once was.

The truth is what we all wish for. Shall we not seek it with ernest abandon? Or shall we tend to the sheep as ravenous wolves in the shape of a shepherd? Nay, not me good Sirs. I look to the future for its brightness and the infinite hope anchored in the being of my children.

~written by Consis

Bush is bad and Kerry is bad. Might I submit a vote that would sooner seat the New York senator, Hillary Clinton, than elect an almost presidential hopeful.

I say we weather the Bush storm until we can put Hillary in office. We can do it, and the world feels pity for us in this time of poor leadership. I think the world would understand if we declared another four years to wait for the first woman president in the history of the world.

Wouldn't that be the ultimate slap in the face to islamic fundamentalist terrorists around the world; electing an educated free woman showing her true face for all the world to see? What better signal to send those barbarian heathens? Let them know that we not only seek to destroy them, but also allow their women to go to school, vote, and own their own land! Touche' you wretched devils!

Vote Hillary! Write it in if you have to! Tell the world it's time for a change!
