I've only heard 2 people who want to participate in gladiator; if its valid enough, its fine, but what would be the prize, prestige, reward? It would need at least a dozen players to make worthwile.

i was sure that tc_fear will agree with jinxer, since the remeberings of "call to power" tourney are almost forgotten . easier to get to caesar final, swimming among the gladiators, isn't it? still tricky ..

not tricky..just thought -good idea -worst best vs best of the best hehe..but days are running and i doubt there are too much players too participate in gladiators.
I think there will be just caezars.

Keep in mind only less then 5% of TOH Hommunity visit and use this board. So you only have heard of 2 people that want in it, cause most everyone else have no idea its a possibility. I suggest, posting it on main news and IF there is 12 that sign up then we have a tournament, if 12 dont sign up then there is no tourny. But I am sure there will be 10 more people more than interested. I can think of 5 that will join for sure that I know of.

Yes, there are lots of hidden players out there that would just jump at the chance to prove their bravery in a Gladiator tourney (ahh the possibilities!)

I remove my share of the petition to get the gladiator tourny going. I wont be participating in it. I am from this point, on sebatical until Heroes 5. Hoping and praying that Ubisoft can rekindle what 3do destroyed.

hmm, we need some kind of map system for this caesar, the other one was way too biased ...
so what i am suggesting is : have 5 maps chosen as caesar tournament maps (my suggestions would be circle of life, giant maze or eldorado, imperial prison, powerspot, danger zone or deep kick; about one map of each mapmaker)
Then we can have an elimination system much like warcraft's, each player will refuse 2 maps (they must not coincide, i.e. zud rejects giant maze and circle and jinxer rejects imperial prison and powerspot), so only 1 will be left standing. That way we can say it was "mutually agreed upon".
One way we can do this is ... let's say Zud hosts against Jinxer, then Jinxer rejects 1 map, Zud rejects 2 and then Jinxer rejects final map (making Jinxer "choose" the map, making up for 1st player's advantage).
That sounds fair to me ... for both caesar and gladiator tournaments

Why make it so complicated on choosing maps? Let the opponents decide vs. each other, rules and everything. Then if there is a disagreement that won't settle, then I will decide muhahaahaaaaaaa

Even tho I wont be playing in either Gladiator or Ceasar, I still feel compelled to offer my opinion on Valkys idea.
There has always been a problem with that system. Since there has to be an odd number of maps the map styles that are represented the most will benefit.
Here is an example. I noticed that Valky was generous enough to include Imperial Prison and DangerZone in his examples. However with his formula of you negate one and I will negate one. He knows that DangerZone and Imperial Prison will never be a choice cause he can take them out. That will always leave either Powerspot or the maze or Circle for life. So since any of them 3 are maps he prefers and same map style there is no biggie. So ultimately there is no choice really. I can see why he wants it this way, so that he is not forced to have to play a map outside of his comfort zone. After all most of the So called Ceasar material players only got to there current standing by playing comfortzone maps lol. Take that away and what do they have? Uncertainty...unstableness...Balance!
Anyways, Vesuvius's way is the best way. Either both agree or Vesuvius chooses. That way if you are forced to play your opponents comfortzone map then atleast it was chosen randomly by a 3rd party. Thats the fairest way.

i think the idea is good , it will save some time for emailing and waiting for your decision .
the players know will have to play a map in the end . so choosing 1 outta 5 maps and agreeing upon the settings will take about half an hour , while theyre still hot.
otherwise , will be no time match again , especially when one of them wont like what map you chose , excusing by the lack of time.
i think its good to be decided once they got in contact, the options they have to choose from are clear and the outcome picking is predictable.
faster this way.
my opinion
you can make a decision before the caesar starts naming the maps will be played.
