Come one, come all, beginners and experienced players alike, noobs and ol’farts to the first ever (can’t guarantee that’s it’s the first one EVER) Heroes Community (please don’t sue me for using your name) based “Mighty Alliance” online tournament!!!

After throwing around a few ideas for different tourney formats for noobs and carefully considering the interests and personal feelings of some vets (here’s looking at you Angelito), here is the proposed format for the “ride on the shoulders of a better player” tournament.  Basically the intent here is to allow newer players to double up with more experienced players (something that we’ve been trying to set up for a while) allowing them to view first hand (short of flying around the world) some of the strategies and tactics that we (noob and vet) have discussed over the last few weeks (and I’m sure for years before that).

Here we go…

Proposed phases to the tourney:

1) Recruitment: we need an even number of noobs and vets for this tournament…  so folks don’t be shy and be honest when ranking your skills… This is a learning experience that we can all benefit from but I’ll need honest rankings…. (sorry Angel, you’ll be a vet in this one)
2) Pairing up: each noob will be assigned one vet per new game…
3) Round robin: Each player will have a different partner in the round robin games.  This means that you may play with a vet and then face him in the next game of the round robin.  This will allow each player to experience different perspectives of the game.  The number of teams will decide the number of games (there may be 2 conferences or more)(and yes, I like hockey so allot of this format will be based on world championships)  Each number of wins will represent points to establish the standings before the elimination round (or in this case the “abandon your cause” round)
4) The highest ranked vet will be teamed up with the lowest ranked noob and so on… each conference will be placed in order by this manner.  The highest ranked team will then play the lowest and so on… If there are multiple conferences (pending the number of interested players) these first round games will be cross conference (meaning that the highest of one conf. will play the lowest of the other)
5) We may look at a consolation round… We’ll have to see how well things go.

All comments are welcome and If you are interested, a reply would be appreciated to let me know how many people are interested….

In closing…  Good Luck and BRING’IT!!!

(Conan and I will be conjuring up a web site for the 2 tourney's: noob tourney and mighty alliance) it will be added to this thread later......  Asmodean can you sticky not this as well??

Dark, the question is: did you really beat Angelito, because if so, you aint a Noob!
And from my 45 second research no WW, you beat him twice.... witch makes you a vet.
Of course, this all doesn't matter. All players will play against each other and that will determine the ranks. The Noobs are bound to be at the bottom (like me )
So, it this specific tourney, there is no real need for a Noob definition.
Although I should put one in the Noob tournament.

To be honest, both losses have been 2vs2 games.
And in both games, Darks ally had some....errrr....hmmmm...."luck" with conservatories..
First game ironwill was his ally, who had 23 Archangels middle of week 3....and second game was a week ago, where his ally Svetlio had 26 Archangels middle of week 3....So there was no great chance for me to win against that...

nice idea, though setups like this i got bad experience with. As it usually ends up 2 players wanna play together and then they make that happend.

Besides i think the idea of switching partners kinda ruins the whole concept.

IMO the concept is better if you get to play some games together with one ally, that way you can get him to become better and also watch him become better.

One game means a short introduction usually, and if a n00b gets to play with 10 different introductions only thing that will happend is that he will get dizzy and not knowing what to do

Im in if 3 conditions are to be followed:

1) set allies
2) no jebus template as that is more of a lottery than a learning map
3) no fast deadlines, might be able to play once a week as i got school.
oh and 4) i want a n00b ally that knows his a n00b, so he doesnt spend all his game trying to convince me that capitol day 8 and 2 heroes is the way to go..

I'd like to have an allied game, so if you can, consider me as one allie to someone.

And Sir_Stiven doesn't know what he's saying as Jebussssssss rocks.

But seriously, that luck factor could easily be decreased by a lot with not allowing cons, hives, lv7 external dwellings and double builds. Many people play that way on zone anyway.

Edit:

Oh, any if you talked about overall richness of the map...well, for newbies it will be a bit easier then to struggle on some poor ones. Imo.

Edit2: And have lots of fun!

easier: yes

Which is my problem with that template, because as a n00b you wont learn anything except that you need many heroes to bring in lots of cash.

Then you could just aswell learn how to play the template on your computer and then play vs the computer using many heroes, the loss is that you wont face a human in end fight but your allys input will be very limited.

On a map that isnt as rich there will be more to learn as there are many many more tactical choices.

Well you know my conditions now, i wont spend lots of hours trying to learn someone a correct building order with tons of cash and that luck can have a major influence as that doesnt give me any fun nor does it learn the n00b how to play the game itself.

lemme know when u decided what to do

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Angelito make excuses before…(in my thread, I feel special)  LOL!!!  What, YOU couldn’t handle 26 AA in week 3???  I’m disappointed!  I guess I’m looking for a new partner….  LOL

Now let me address some concerns that have arisen…

Noobs, you know who you are… and if you’re not sure, I’ll place you so don’t worry.

Dark Youth, Lord Lazy and anyone else interested…  You are all welcome…
You guys will most likely be qualified as vets.  It will however depend on the numbers.
Lord Lazy, if you’re looking for fun, then you are most welcome.  J

Nebuka… thanks… It’s not often you’re told you rock!!! LOL
Oh wait, you were talking about the templates!!!??  Dang!!
And you are of course welcome as well…

SS... The idea of the round robin switching partners is to let everyone see other's strategies and just to get to know new folks...  Since it's for fun try not to get to competitive (I know you want to learn your noob good and proper!! LOL) rest assured that the elimination round will be set teams... at that point you can help the noob "unlearn what he has learned" from others....  I haven't even looked at this yet.  And although I appreciate your honesty, keep in mind we’re just looking to have a good time…  This isn’t going to be THAT serious. (This is not a hostage situation, demands will not be honoured… LOL) and I know of a noob that is looking forward to playing with you so hopefully you decide in the end to join.

I am still waiting to hear from Lion, Rage and Solo….  So keep in touch!!

*Underlines this with bolt lines*...

And i have to disagree a bit with Stiven here about "Jebus"-template.

Sure it is a rich template, but if we have some newbies here, who want to learn "a whole new game", u could show them some good things on jebus as well.

For example:

Do they all know what u are able to fight against with only ONE angel (or other level 7 unit) on your hero? That is easy to practice on jebus, coz u will have your angel on day 5 first week and do some good fights....hard to do on other templates...

They can learn to build "teams". Means, u don´t have to "chain" your whole army between 7 or 8 heroes and fith with them all. No u can make 3 teams for example. Every team contents 2/3 heroes. First team fights only with 1 (or in week 2 3 of them) angel, next team fights with cavaliers only (week 2 normaly) and third team takes pikes, archers/marksmen and griffs perhaps.
And for the fact, the fights in your starting area aren´t THAT hard normaly, they can practice these things very well.

Lead them slowly in the right direction......or did u make your driving licence on a Porsche?...
