Just an advice to improve learning and IMO have more fun.. am not saying that your ideas suck. On the contrary i think the idea is good of a mixed allied tournament i just dont like the current concept
Well do as you with, id be happy to take on one pupil if you want me too
if not, have fun battling.
I appreciate you commnents SS...
as much as learning is important, I think the point of these little "tourneys" is to have fun. The fact is the 2 vs 2 idea was Angelito's, I was just trying to add a twist to it. The point behind that type of round robin is to ensure that the teams for the elimination round are as even as possible... From there, your teamate would be definit. If the motivation here is for learning primarily, then (if everyone prefers) we could do it that way (but I'll ask that someone set it up then)... If the majority prefers to keep it the way it is, I'll be more than happy to oversee it. (I'm not trying to be a d*** but since I'm looking to just have a good time, I thought that the presented format would work. I'm not running a Monarchy here so it'll be up to the people... but it'll be up to the people to run it.
As far as the type of maps go, like I said, I hadn't gotten to that point yet and since it was just for fun, I didn't think it would become an issue...
As of yet, the format that I've presented will be the format assumed... I'm still waiting for a few players...
(I just thought of a REAL simple solution.... Conan, let me take over the "king of the noobs" and you can set this up the way you feel it would work best...)

I like the format presented by Jebus!
It sounds exciting & fun to play with a different veteran every game and then settle in with a permanent one, when things get competitive in the playoffs!
I not only think this format will help me learn different approaches & strategies, from a variety of veterans, but will also help me get to know these people as well! After all, my main goal in starting to play HoMM3 in the beginning, was to do it in Multiplayer only. I want to meet people from everywhere on earth and find that doing it over a friendly, or competitve, video game adds a little spice to the interaction!
Don't get me wrong, I would eventually get sick of constantly losing to these various people, so that is why I think this whole "Veteran & nOOb" tournament will ROCK DA' HOUSE!

Total mistake......
Vets: Angelito, Dark Youth, Lord Lazy
Noobs: Jebus, Conan, Lion, Tigris and Binabik.
I would almost need 8 of each to make 2 conferences.

ok no problem!
BTW:is there a deadline for signin in? I think the number of the players will have to dictate the format and not viceversa. IMHO you can't afford to wait a for a certain number of players to be reached in order to get the tourney started, you have to set a deadline and then adapt the orriginal format to the existing number of players.Don't be mad at me, i'm not trying once again to meddle in the organisational part of the tourney, i just want to see things rolling as fast as possible.

Perhaps u should ask some members in the zone to participate in that tourney, coz there are many people who want to play for fun, coz they are new to online gaming. And there are also some vets who mostly (or only) play for fun, coz they dislike point hugging tourneys..
Oo_TEL_oO is one of the best players around, and he only plays for fun. But i´m sure he would like to play such noob/vet tourneys. As far as i know, he did those games already and he plays with newcomers very often to show them some basics of that game.

I tried to make a few allied maps with the "midnight mix" template yesterday, and I think those maps were great challenge, had a bit of real randoms, and forced many of the REAL random strategies to be used at its best purpose. I think not only is it more fun, more challenging and more fair, but also I think the noobs will learn more from a game like that.
Midnight mix for enjoying and learning
Also, I need to add why Jebus is be suck imo as well: Day1 buy heroes, run run run scout fight a few fights, get money money money, buy angels, send heroes with angels week2, fight fight fight take banks and stores, week 3 break block, take topias, kill opponent. This is how it ALWAYS will be, and is not similar to any of the other templates mostly played. So the new players will learn a new style of playing ya, but wont learn what he really need. Also, this template is no fun imo.
It's like comparing fest maps to original fixed maps, it's a different way of playing. Just as tower defense is different from normal warcraft playing to bring in other examples
IMO midnight mix is the way to go

wow seems lordmalekith has learned about the game hehe
i got a semi tough allied temp that i can send if anyone wanna upload it so you can see it.
It needs some teamwork on it for a faster break. If you play singleplayer in the team it will be tough...
teamwork is essential

This is really taking shape!
Good to hear some more people are onboard in this thing! I look forward to starting soon, as well, since I will soon be unplugging myself from my buddy's Xbox & Halo 2.
Sir_Stiven, your map sounds as interesting as your idea of...let me see if I get this right...Teamwork?! I have never actually played a team game, so I don't even know if teammates can trade units, artefacts, or spells between each other. The only thing I think I know , is that you can send resources to another player...so, who wants to be on my team?

I'll speak to him about it later today and see what's the "good word". But, if you happen to see him online before I see him at work, go ahead and talk to him.
N.B. "Il a besoin du support en ce moment..."
I hope everything is shaping up well for the nOOb tourney, I'm on my way to check that out right now...

Dude,
On verra bientôt.
À +
The mod has spoken!! Here is the translation
What do you mean he needs support? If it's what I think it is, he needs support with the tourney? In any case, maybe you could give him a hand with that.
Tigris,
I have a good idea what is going on with Jebus and that's why I asked Léo to speak with him... We shall soon see.
Later
