This once again heavily depends on the map. If all resources are guarded and there is not much room to explore, then it's not going to be worth all that much. In that case, it would be better to develop one primary hero to gather the experience, which makes it easier to take down neutrals and a "scavanger" hero, who picks up the lose resources so that the primary hero can use his movement more efficiently.

Ive changed my mind.

Actually giving this as an advice to the approach n00b is more n00bish.

So this will make you The new HC n00b!!!

congrats!

Beneath this toss lies actual insight. Even if the area is guarded, you chain your main army between your 4-8 heroes and you can clear a nice area super fast (ie, a day or 2).

I liked the good old days when every hero out of a tavern had a full roster, not just the first two for the week.

To clarify what I wrote, I didn't say going for capitol day 8 is a good idea. I can't at the moment recall any time that was a good idea. When you check for info on build and all that's in mind is toh maps most don't build a capitol at all, but then if you aren't playing such a map and it's a bit more relaxed play you will probably need it fairly early. If for example you were playing Island King with Tower building capitol day 12 is probably a good idea (starts with no parapet and no mage guild). Your starting area only supports 2 heroes really, but you can send several of them out to sea (7 or 8 heroes doesn't seem like a good idea on this one). You would need a good hero though since there's no time to upgrade the gremlins if you want to have all creature dwellings second week along with capitol, but it's doable since only one stack or two will be too strong and you can finish it off week 3 before you set out to sea with your main.

However on most maps, especially random maps, you can indeed get the full amount of heroes and wait with or even skip the capitol entirerly and just sweep the area. I was only defending the odd map you may encounter once in a while and being set in your ways in how to play could damage you.

When we play hotseat it's mostly just to hang out so we sometimes play with special rules like max two heroes not counting garrisoned ones just to speed the turns up.

From what I've gathered, it all comes down to two things.

1. You need to decide if your map is "rich" enough within the first two days before deciding to go the money or creatures route.

2. If you choose to go the creatures route, that means you are leaving it up to your heros to collect gold around the map. If you don't have a firm grasp on how and when to battle with limited creatures using advanced tactics (not the skill), you could end up hurting yourself later. You could end up with all your creature dwellings built, but no money to buy them with while you wait day after day to build up to your Captitol.

Its all about how confident you are in your skills in battle with limited creatures.

wrong bonebroke, you basically go for creatures each and every time. amount of cash usually just limits nr of heroes in beginning.

thats the reason i said "basically" rychendebatemakerroller

But if i would have said "go for cash on poor templates" there would have been plenty of discussions about when a template is poor and that there is better from time to time bla bla bla.

So easier to say to basically always go for creatures since that is the case anyway. Besides hives template, how many extremely poor temps can you mention that you go for cash first on?

Sir Stiven...common ....our show is over, i guess its time for us to admit, all others are totally right and we are wrong.

Of its the best way to build straight the capitol. Noone would come to the idea that 4000 gold per day can be beatable anyhow. Additional to this if u buy more then 4 to 5 heroes u can really come into trouble..u r running out of money. Magic heroes are of course the best...there is nothing that can suit to a 3000 damage implosion.. or take Solmyr, how can u stop him?? They really got us ...dammit. U need two Heroes at least, one who does the scouting and fighting and one that protects the town...best is to put him into the garrison all the time. Its very hard to kill the comp, especially on those small maps with very rare resources on 200% that i play all the time. Chaining looks "innatural" in my eyes and Zombies are da bomb!

Yeah! Zombies are da bomb!

Actually I think I'd like to know something. I usually play my games on impossible setting and if I'm playing rampart I usually go for grand elves day 2. I'm not gonna have the gold to buy lots of creatures unless I get those grand elves. Now those creatures stacks of high level slow units become way easier, because I can just use my centaurs or pegasi make them run around the map and get shot down and clean em out with one big punch by my centaurs.

So I go for grand elves first, before anything else.

Funny you say that, I thought that was what was missing from the old template making process...some tough mapz. But you know heroes players, they like it easy

Tough = 1 chest and 2 gold piles in week 1. Good fun

agree with you actually rychenchallengeroller...

most popular temps seem to be the ones like jebus cross where you get a crazy amount of gold.

I like poorer maps more as creature management gets more important.

the allied temp ive made is semi poor.. you wont make lvl 7 first week unless awesome start or playing stronghold.

oh and btw xar, off course we are the stupid ones. I mean.. who are we to challenge these players who have played the comp for several years and are all self claimed experts of the game?

so from now on..

CAPITOL DAY 8 MEANS ALOT OF GOLD TO PUT ALOT IN THE BANKROOM!!!!!!

MANY ON THE FEW HEROES MEANS ALOT OF MONEY TO BUY THE CASTLE FIRST WEEK!!!!!!

FIGHTING? NONONO.. NOT MANY OF THE FIGHT SINCE THEN YOU CAN LOSE SOME OF THE VALLEBLE UNIT!!!!

AND WHEN I PLAY THE MIGHTY STRONGHOLD I BUY PLENTY OF THE CYCLOPS WHEN I GET CRUSTAL MONTH 7 SO I CAN THROW MANY ROCKS

I LIKE ROCKS.. BECUSE THEY SOUND LIKE THA ROC HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

BUT FORGETTING NONO, ONE MUST REMEMBER THAT THERE IS BETTER UNIT!!

BECAUSE ONE EYE OF THE CYKLON CAN NOT BRING THE MIGHTY DISEASE!!!!!!

ONLY DA ZOMBIE CAN BRING MANY MANY OF THE DISEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

BECAUSE ZOMBIE IS DA BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mayhaps then going indepth in situations where mayhaps it would be better to build up money infastructure? Some more indepth build things like that?

I wish I could provide, but I'd want to test out my theories...

Rhyanna

Since you are new here, and a local where I live, I think I should try and explain something to you. Please don't be offended by Sir_Stiven. His goal in life is to harass newcommers such as yourself. The thing is that he's not singling you out. He does it to EVERYONE who is new. He did it to me and everyone else when they first get here. It's his way of welcoming new people in. Some people leave as soon as they get here because of him, and some fight it out with him earning themselves a foreboding penalty from the mods. But he is never successfully penalized for it. He always gets away with it. If you can survive his rude comments when you first get here then you'll be golden in the community. Don't take it personally. People have tried to get him to stop but nothing ever happens and he simply continues being the way he is.

In welcoming you to Heroes Community, I must tell you how many good people there are here. If you have any questions, any questions at all, almost anyone will more than gladly help you except Sir_Stiven. Don't let him sour your initial impressions of this place. I hope you decide to stay and chat with us.

It would be a shame for me to once again be the only HeroesCommunity member within at least a thousand mile radius.

i find the above post both insulting and inspiring for some kind of a witchhunt.

And to clarify my stance, the people ive so heavily insulted and "driven away" lately must be one out of jebus, conan or rage08 then as they are the only 3 ive tossed here in recent months.

no.. that cant be it?

Since.. rage is now a poster in tossers tavern, jebus and i get along ok and frankly i dont think conan conciders me the scum of the earth either concidering we are getting along well for the allied tournament.

So basically consis, this is just you making clueless assumptions and present them in a provoking and insulting way.

My advice for you for a christmas gift would be to get a clue
