I hope u can go back to the "never been asked before"-topic again..
Although the post with those 126 smilies of Stefan isnīt insulting in anyway, it could lead a newbie into a wrong direction related to his further play-style, coz it seems to be not the best way to play that game. ()
So please post "correct" help lines, or just read and smile

I donīt have a problem with some funny posts Stefan,, u know that..
But at least some guys here should also try to help as well...

I mentioned your post, coz i liked it and find it funny...even if it didnīt help the questioner.
Consisī post is not funny, but seems to help the newbies a bit...how to play the game and how to handle your toss.
And i thought u were not that thin-skinned...

helped the newbies??
there is a difference between helping someone out and pointing out that im obviously the source for all evil
or to put it in other words, he accused me of choosing my words unwisely while he hardly proved to be the best example himself
But sure... if thats the standard you wanna set. But then dont come whining if there are harsh words some time from another member. I have no problems playing by the rules as long as i know them. Because they are the same for everyone right?
I dont think i personally will have any problems adapting to em

He he... Stefan is like the newcomers trial for strong charcter. He keeps the community clean of whimps.
angelito, we got what he wanted to say. and in his irony, the mistakes players make, are emphasized even more clearly, so i have no problem with his style of tutoring.
though, no ones yet answered my question a page (or 2) back. I guess paraphrised it would be: Is it good to use more heroes for experience gathering from fights, instead of concentrating it in your main? Especially so early in the game.

I'm not a fancy lawyer...mmm, I mean, I'm not an expert in this game but here's my take.
Usually, early in game, atleast for me, having multiple battles with different heroes works better than dragging main to fight for a mine or such.
Main reason is saving time, and letting main fight bigger and more important battles.
Must say that haven't been practicing that tactic(strategy?crapwork?) much but just recently played one large random map, and in just two-three turns I cleared almost all of my area. Though, guards were mostly 1-2-3 levels.
I just loved what I've seen then.
Too bad it was singleplayer(THANK YOU ZONE FOR NOT LOADING FOR ME!) game that I quit on 4th or 5th day when tried to teach some pit fiends manners and bastards repayed by killing me.
The nerve of them!

I've been improving my game constantly after reading interesting things from this forum, still this chaining tactic seems to elude me.I hire 4-5 heroes day one and start scouting/gathering resources with them. Main hero leaves the castle last one, after having buought garrison+spell book or some creatures from whatever building i did build day 1.If lucky to have a cript/mine/creatures blocking the path in reach of main i do that day 1.Now the problem is that my main loses his movement points to do that, so i can't pass the army to another hero as all the heroes emerged from one spot they all move(almost) the same distance.Day 2:now it's where the things start to lose clarity for me.AFAI can tell i should have my main wihtin range of another hero,to whom i can pass the army then to fight.this isn't possible always. At least not for me.... how can i do this? can anyone be more exact on how to it?I often lose alot of time with my main cos i see a mine(for exemple) just out of my reach, then i see another mine and so on and i so my main gets separated by the rest, cos when i try to return to the road without going the same way i discover that the road is blocked or guarded by some strong monsters. The way back is another two days and in the meantime i can't clear nothing with the rest of my heroes.I played some maps on jebus template and although i could figure day1 where i am and what i have to do(take goldmines, castles, scout the area to see the guards to the middle zone, etc) i don't seem to get this thing right and is slowing my game with about a week(cos if i saw that unicorn dwellings day 3 i would have taken it ASAP so instead of 6 unicorns week 2 i would have had 12)and the exemples can continue..So please someone explain it to me like i'm a 6 year old, how does this thing really works?

First of all, you should not buy 4-5 heroes, but 6-7 heroes (+ your starting hero) when you play Jebus (up to 130%).
Next fact, donīt run with all 7 (8) heroes in 7(8) different directions.
Your first 3 (4) heroes can travel in 3 (4) different directions to scout the nearer area around your castle.
Now you can see a nice area, where you can think about what you can (want to) fight with your current army. It is not always the best thing to let your "main" hero (if you have chosen him on day 1 already) fight all the stuff on the first 2 or 3 days, sometimes it is better to get him the stats boosters (+1 attack, +1 spellpower and so on...) and perhaps some learning stones. So if you have 4 heroes placed in 4 directions, you can make a plan what to do on day 2. Now you can place your next 3 heroes on the map the way you can make all the fights you have in mind for the next day and chain them like you need to.
Iīm not that experienced in exact placement of my chaining heroes, but i made good experience when making "pairs". Means, i have most of the time 2 heroes standing near together. One fights, the other carries troops to next hero, who can do some fights also. After doing his fights, this hero chains to "his" nearby hero who will bring army to next "pair".....
With this tactic, you can also "hide" your main hero a very long time (try to get rid of your whole army (except 1 fast single unit) to another hero), so your opponent canīt see him in tavern and wonīt see how big your stats already are..
I hope you get what i want to tell ya. But perhaps some real vets can explain their chaining tactic a bit better.
Chaining is much "easier" on fixed maps though, coz you already know the whole map and so u can place all your heroes like you need them. There wonīt suprisingly appear a dwelling or such, which will change your plan...

Check out these saves:
http://www.math.bme.hu/~csarmasz/heroes3
day1-6 saves (you'll find them there, they are .gm1)
Those are certainly not the best possible (i am just a loser) and not on jebus, but they can give you some basic ideas on chaining and stuff.
Let me know how good they are though...

I think i'm about to have another sudden attack of panic..
All this time i thought i was doing it the right way..Yes, Angelito i understand what you're saying about the pairing and i think it's brilliant! I will try this for sure.
Csarmy i'll check those saves ASAP.
Man i really need to play one of those allied games, i can't stand to be a total ignorant any more.
I checked some threads for chaining but thre hints were few(in jebus's chaining thread nothing, checked first 10 pages in ToH forum still little things about chaining)
Angelito since you are more familiar with early library threads(as you checked/organized about half it's content already)please provide some links to some chaining related material, cos my internet connection is just lousy.
@edit:I downloaded csarmi's saves and checked them out in my computer,it's indead more dinamic than what i'm used too!i've sliced every hero's moves and there all extremely precise to fulfil one goal.Even though it was a random map(balance) he found the way to the 3rd castle day 3(defeating horde obsidian gargs). The stats boosting thing Angelito mentioned was present and so krag hack was 9/1/2/1 at levl 2 day 7 without fighting even once, nor taking exp from chests or such.Csarmi did use the "pairing" tactic to take the 2nd castle(krellion and hack)so i did get the point with that one first hand.I found those saves mighty enlightning for me,cos until now i just moved my heroes around without a very precised plan from day to day for each one, just some general guidelines.
If othe guys could post more of theese it will be great for us new guys.
if anyone wants to submit something and doesn't have a place to upload the saves, just send them to me as an attachament and i'll upload them for you gladly. It's not a big effort(simply save after each turn week 1), it doesn't take much space(each save has aprox 140 kb),but instead it's very precious info for new, willing to learn players.

That has little importance IMHO.i tried it with v 3.2 and worked smoothly.maybe tou save it in the wrong file.you should save those in the file that has your savedgames(autosave and so on), not in the file with your maps. You don't have to have balance template, cos the map isn't generated it's just loaded.Good luck!
@vets: As you see there is plenty of interess for this so go ahead and make some more saves for us noobs to analyze/improuve our game from! PLS

Yes, I put them in the games folder and saw the file name in the load screen. It must be something with my computer at home since it loads correctly in my laptop. I'll try to solve the problem tonight.

Ok, this is an easy example. Although chaining has many varieties, i take this easy example. Although its not played perfect u can get some main ideas of chaining.
2on1, me vs 2 other players
Random Template "Jebus" on 160%
Normal rule setting, plus:
Max. 1 Lvl7 ext. Dwelling, no Portal oS.
Max. 2 Lvl6 ext. Dwelling
No Log Specs.
Map was cleared well. Week 3, day 1..just upgraded the devils building + all money buildings are build ..so in my eyes i was maybe one or two days late, but still more then very good in time.
The situation u see was already planned days before. As the left tope was a full one it wasnt a good idea to make this one as a "weeks-beginning-goal". The checked right Tope was only a "pack-tope"; plus the panbox next to it decided to take them as the "goals". Every (collecting or chaining) scout was moved the days before that they will end up like this. Only one scout will collect some resources.
The next days (do it like this):
player advices:
Turn off sound and effects.
Turn off computer casting in quickcombat
1. Zydar goes windmill, collects money (let him run out of mov. points)
2. Krellion (main hero) gives 2 devils to Thunar (remark: for speed reasons let him 1 devil), and moves very next to the pan box.
3. Thunar gives devils + efreetis to Xyron.
4. Xyron buys the devil a and gives everything to Olema and (important) goes back 2 steps on the road.
5. Olema goes into Town. Upgrade Efreeti and put everything else into Garrison.
6. Place Iona for the backchain.
7. Let Calh collect the resources dont let him stand in the way of your main.
8. Now change every resource into money, except for the one for the archdevils. You need to make the goals now! Dont whine about resources u might need for mageguild/other upgrades. U r still ahead and can get magic elsewhere...dont loose your goals out of your mind. U might wont have time for changing next turn.
Next turn (the backchain):
1. Turn on Quickcombat
2. Upgrade/buy all Archdevils,Efreetis and some Imps fodder.
3. Olema all to Xyron.
4. Xyron gives Efreetis and fodder to Thunar. Splitt Archdevils (2x3). Quickcombat Cyc-Kings, Dragon Fly Hive ...yeah u want him to be your scholar and now uve some more fodder for the Tope. Give all to Thunar.
5. Thunar gives all Iona.
6. Iona gives Archdevils to Krellion, takes aways the devil.
7. Krellion Quickcombat Flies. Takes Pan Box.
8. Iona gives the all the rest but 7 imps and 1 devil to Krellion. Dont stand in his way.
9. Turn off Quickcombat
9. Krellion takes Utopia, looses only some fodder. Dont cast magic in there!! U need it for the border guard next turn (massslow)
10. Calh takes away all but 1 archdevil creatures from Krellion (dont let him show in tavern).
11. Krellion moves speed optimated to the border to the treasure area.
12. Zydar moves very next to the border (for scouting purposes).
Next turn:
Break into the treasure area!! Yeah you are first, the win is almost yourssss!!
Ok have fun,
Xarfax1

It was on Jebus template, first 7 days. Lots of fighting so chaining in effect here.
Though, mind you, I'm not a great player, so prolly some others could do it better.
P.S. Yousendit servers will keep file for a week, so download fast.
