Somethign puzzling.
I was just looking through the heroes developmental notes, and somethign worried me..
Ok theres going to be quite a bit of math here.
There are going to be around 130 creatures
There are 6 towns
There are 6 creatures per towns not including upgrades.
It hasn't even been stated if upgrades are going to be done H2 or H3 style, so im going to assume its gonna be done H3 style, just for experimental purposes
Ok, so you have 6 creatures times 6 towns, thats 36.
If every creature has an upgrade, thats 36x2, 72.
Ok, so theres 72 castled creatures out of 130
130 - 72 is 58.
There will be 58+ neutral creatures..W.T.F?
Any speculation for this?
Either way, i just hope my Gnoll's, Lizardmen, Serpent Flies, Basilisks, Gorgons and Wyverns are brought back

well maybe there are a lotta unique creatures. eg. light dragon, only appears a few times in the human campaign. or maybe there is gonna be more than one upgrade per creature. the possibilities are endless

I'd hate the math part even more if I ended up having to do it myself.
As you'd expect, I always get a little concerned about the upcoming game if I hear it's gonna be a great departure from Heroes 3. The setup of six towns with six creatures each reminds me of Heroes 2, which isn't necessarily bad. But it could be. That big gap of creatures is weird, indeed. If you ask me, I'd say they should throw in the Fortress. No matter how the game turns out, I sure hope the "Heroes feel" is present. If it isn't, that'll be sad.

hmm is there confirmed info that heroes5 will have 6 units per town? I thought it will have 7 :\

I believe Fabrice said he made a mistake when he said they would pass the amount of units in H3, I would expect maybe (big maybe) there is 100 units.

This means that you'll be only seeing small amount of creatures per game, and those neutrals which don't sit on popular MP games will be a rare sight, probably.
There is a possibility that they'll make something close to Portal from Nature town (H4). But it has been established that everything related to H4 is crap. I'm amazed that they didn't drop the concept of creatures - after all, creatures were used in Heroes4.

my theory is that there will be seven creatures per town, each with upgrade.
7*2*6 = 82.
18 nutral creatures makes sense, and there may be a choice related system for a few creatures. also, there could be random creatures for each town, like different kinds of demons for inferno, or different archers for the castle.
just speculation.

interesting, are you saying that the creature portal in homm4 wasn't crap?
btw there was something similar in homm3 dungeon, wasn't there?
my opinion is that in homm3 it was useless crap, unlike in homm4 where it was useful crap. i think it was better the homm3 way, because then you hardly noticed that you can get creatures from a .... portal.
ok, whatever, i just don't get it how a creature portal could be anything else but crap.

what about a portal where it gives u certain creatures daily? eh? the possiblities are endless so jump to comclusions

The idea of a structure delivering you extra creatures doesn't sound like crap to me... are you bothered by the name, or the concept?... They could replace it with a sort of, I don't know, bootleg (  ) tavern, where certain people that smugle creatures from different dwellings on the map gather and sell them.

Fabrice said that there will be 130 creatures with the expansion(s) a long time ago.
And the number of creatures of towns in the original game will be 84. 7*2*6 = 84

84 creatures in base homm5 ? Do you really believe there will be no single neutral creature in Heroes5 without expansion pack ?

Like i've stated many times before, I don't care what creatures and heroes are in it, as long as i have Tazar, gnolls, lizardmen, dragonflies, basilisks, Wyverns, and Gorgons back.
