What do Games teach us?
this is an idea i got from this thread
sorry if this has been done
Joking:
If you see a stranger in trouble (mainly girls) always save them, they always have something valuable
Treasure are just lying around everywhere
its okay to go into someones house, take all their stuff, then just leave
villains never lock thier treasure chest
villains never lock the front door
You can carry around a deadly weapon into a normal town and no-one will notice you
Its okay to talk to strangers
If someone says you have to do something quick it doesnt matter how fast or slow you do it, you'll always arrive in the nick of time
Dont worry about breaking your weapons, they're indestructible no matter how much you use them (unless you get in a fight with your arch nemisis)
Unimportant enimies are smart enough to kill you quickly (or atleast try) but the one said to be the smartest (the boss) will always do it slowly and fail
If you dont directly see someone die they're not really dead, they'll always come back
When given a job, you are never payed upfront
Never go out hunting or on an adventure, when you return your town will be burnt down
when you get close to something, something else will always get in your way
Eye patches can switch eyes without the wearer noticeing
Scars can switch sides
No matter what you go through (swamps, ocean, slaughter house) your clothes will always stay clean
time travel doesnt create paradoxes like they should
if i can think of more i'll post them, if you can think of some then post them
Serious:
I think games teach us alot of stuff, but most of it is corny stuff like love and friendship. of course there is the odd peice of scientific information but there is usually the inspiring speech or quote that really makes you think
A few lessons i learnt are:
FF7 : dont pollute and protect the planet
Metal Gear : nuclear weapons are bad
FF6 : always be positive you can change anything
how about you?

The message of 'Don't pollute the planet, foo!' takes place within a 15 minute timespan in the beginning of FFVII. I would say the moral of the story is...
...Spoiler warning...
Don't go around fusing your own memories with experiences of others (I'm looking at you, CLOUD!) and don't let random people inject you with Jenova cells.
...All clear. Spoiler free.
And your FFVI moral hit the nail on the head. I mean, look at Kefka (greatest VG villian of ALL TIME, I must say). He wanted the world destroyed for no reason other so he could rule what was left and
...Spoiler warning...
He succeded.
...All clear.
I mean, has that even happened before in a game? The villian ultimately has his plans fulfilled and earth is reduced to nothing? I mean, wow, Kefka. You're badass and a clown.
Another thing Video Games taught me is that I should never go to the Millenial fair and try out dangerous new technologies that have no place in 1000 AD.

Yeah games thought me so much, without them I would be lost forever walking in place without time, but then a bright light stood upon me and I saw ...
a computer !!
What i had learnt from computer games did really helped me in my real life, like how to react in some situations with other people,or much scientific informations which helped me a lot.
Its good things to play the games, without computer or console or whatever my life would be less interesting like is now i think, what do you say?

Getting slashed several times or massaged by bullet shots means nothing, if you can get some food to recover your hp and get hit again. Over and over again, as long as there is food. Applys in real life too? How nice..

I learned a bit of English when I couldn't speak much of it, although lots of words were quite useless for talking, such as "sword" and "shield" or "hit points".
Games taught me strategy and management. I think my skills of managing limited resources and utilising them for best opportunities have improved a lot because of games. Also, efficiency and economic management.
Games show us that we can achieve heroic deeds. But, most of games are fighting and conquest. So it's a mixed message. There's a drive to achieve and exceed, which can make one not very peaceful.
And when I thought about how much time I've spent on improving my "character" in diablo 2, and what would I be like if I spent that time working to improve my real life "character"...

Apart from co-ordination, especially hand (or should i say finger) eye coordination, i havent rely learnt much from games, apart from developing my imagination, and creativity, altho some would argue that isnt something that can be measured.. However i have learnt to cherish the moments when i win, as they sometimes can take a VERY long time to come around again in certain games..

body armor stops everything until it wears out bullets
laser fire bombs
it can be put on in instantly and repaired at any time
the bad guys alwalys leave crates of ammo on the ground
you can carry all the weapons and ammo needed to supply
an intire army in your pockets and still run with out
slowing down or getting tired
bad guys cannot see you if you 100m from them yet smoke
walls fire etc have no effect on there vision
for every 10m from a bad guy only 1 out of every 10
bullets will hit you

Jokeing
if someone mentions a number than a type of object after it (eg. 4 crystals, 3 statues, etc) it will most likely result in you having to find all those objects
further more there will always be an extra hidden one that has been "forgoten in history"
the lesson is, when someone mentions a number run away before they tell you to get the item
people in fantasy worlds give there children weird names eg: Cloud, Auron, Wakka (c'mon what are they thinking WACKA!?)
and anyone with a name with an "X" in it is most likely an important person
anyone with very long (usually grey) hair is evil

Quote: Um... that violence really is the answer?
Thats what they taught me, 90% of all games have some sort of violence in them and 99% of popular games have some sort of violence. Even Super Mario Bros. had very low level violence...
Am I starting to sound like one of those idiots who create censorship ratings for games?

What i learnt from FF-VI
This was such a great game, and my personal favourite game ever, i have some time on my hands so i'll break down the game to what almost every charachter has tought me:
Wedge and Biggs: Dont blindly follow orders
Terra: If you keep searching for love and keep trying, you'll find it eventually, and if not in a soul mate you will still find something you can love.
Locke: You have to let go of the past, that is what the past would want you to do
Edgar: Deception is okay if you use it for good intentions.
Sabin: Keep practiceing, it'll all become useful someday, even if it doesnt seem so useful now, it'll be important to use somewhere in your life
Celes: The highest power is not alway right, stand for what you believe in, and make sacrifice for what is right, it'll be worth the sacrifice, even when everything is wrong, keep going with what you think is right.
Shadow: Dont run from the past, or you will be running forever
Cyan: If you continue to feel guilt for something not your fault, it will eat you up inside.
Gau: Dont judge by appearence. the craziest guy you see could be the gentlest person.
Mog: Stay cool man, dont worry not even the end of the world is a problem, its all good
Setzer: Dont live your entire life with a gamble, sometimes you just have to trust your instincts
Maudin and Madonna: Love can be between anyone, there are no boundaries
Strago: Even an old man can be useful
Relm: Creativity and self confidence is one of the strongest things to have
Cid: People can change
Gogo: ????
Umaro: Just cuz someone is stupid doesnt mean they're useless
Kefka: Never go on an evil rampage for ultimate power and expect to get away with it
Leo: fight to the end
Gehstal: Even your most trusted friend can betray you
Ultros: The baddy always loses
Man do i love final fantasy, i have too much time on my hands
--------------------------------------------
Edit:
More Joking
There will be more people in a town than there are houses to but them in
If peace is reached by diplomacy or politics then its a trap, violence is the only way
When someone needs an invention there is always someone somewhere with exactly what they want.
Things always break down at the worst possible moment
Anyone who disapears will be found eventually
Kingdoms are good, empires are evil
All good looking midle aged women are planning on killing you
Anyone who falls off a cliff will survive
IF you see a perfect world then that just means its about to be destroyed
