Lets get Physical - The Testosterone thread
This is appropriately titled. I'm sure there are guys here who are involved in some sort of physical activity.
So here is a thread to talk about anything, sports you play, tell a story about a certain fight you got in, brag at how much you can bench press. Women are welcome here too, that is if they wish.
As for me, I currently play American Football as a right tackle on the offensive line. I weigh 232 lbs and am 5'10, a somewhat unbalanced mixture of muscle and fat, however before i started lifting weights i weighed 225 lbs...So :-P
I can bench press only 130 at the moment, due to the fact I'm currently recovering from a pulled bicep in my left arm. I can squat 255 though. More to come later!

nice thread
I don't play many sports, but I sure like to watch hockey.
I've also always liked going to the gym but it's hard to find the time with a baby at home. That's why I made my own gym at home with some equipment I could find cheap.
Chest has always been my strong point and now I can bench press about 240lbs. (2 45lbs plates on each side of an olympic bar is 225lbs and I do that twice with a wee bit of help )

Damn, how much is an olympic bar?
Figure if thats 225 pounds and you only got 90 lb's of weights on there, thats 135 pounds of bar right there, I'd have a hard time benching the bar alone! Our school weight bar weighs only 45 lbs, and i can put about two 45 lb plates on it and im set, But before i pulled my bicep, i could bench around 170, which isn't bad for my age.

I meant 2 45 pounds on each side, 4 45 lbs plates total.
I remember trying to lift it with Jebus at the gym and I did it once, and he helped me out with the second lift.
The Olympic bars are 45 lbs. There are only 2 types of bars and usually a gym will have that one.

i just gave up playing soccer (football). i would say that i was average on a large field. on a smaller field in a game of 4 v 4 or 5 v 5 i would dominate
i am not very fit though.
i also like to play table tennis, which i would say i am very good at and tennis which i was good at but now only average for a 14 yr old
and i like to watch every sport from the start to finish except a few. these being sports that stop constantly such as golf, cricket and sadly NFL. but i will however watch the highlights of any sport

that's only because I didn't stir up the right emotions to get you "angry"
but when trainning with Conan, you just keep stacking the pounds on and he lifts them like he did the previous weight... without effort. (freakin' machine)
I however don't have that particular strong man condensed bone and muscle matter gene...
Im 5,7 170lbs of what I can only describe as "resting" muscle (a.k.a. beer)...
Ironically can straight bench about 150lbs (when I was trainning regurlary, but can decline bench 200+( unless my memory is off ) 180lbs plus the bar.
I can squat (seated) about 200+ as well but have issues with my lower back that discourages me from getting the full stretch.
I use to have strong legs in highschool but now I'd have to say Im retired awaiting a comeback.
(probably why I've opted for psychological manipulation as my weapon of choice... still working on the "force" thing! )

Bench 240? that's sick!
I benched 200 on a machine (i.e. when you don't need to balance it.) I would assume I can't bench nearly as much when it is a bar.
I never bench or lift weights though. I did the above just to see how much I can do cuz to 99.9% of people in North America all fitness comes down to "how much do u bench?"
I can do around 100 pushups though (can do like 20-30 on 1 arm), 15 chinups, f**loads of crunches and other abs excercises (few hundreds of those), 1-leg situps, etc. I don't concentrate on 1-2 excercises, so all of my muscles are equally trained, I have good balance and good endurance.
My weight is 158lb (72kg) and I am 193cm tall. Not a particularly heavy build, but it is all muscle ;-) I do Muay Thai and I run in addition to it. I only started doing Muay Thai a year ago, so I didn't get to fight yet, but I am hoping I'll have my first fight by the end of this year.
Well, I've had many "fights" in school back in Russia, but that was b**it, not fighting, none of us really knew how to punch, kick, or block, so we just brawled until we were both tired and bleeding.
Here is a good short description of Muay Thai for those who are interested http://www.thaiboxing.com/

you mentioned you do like 100 pushups a day and stuff..
you do any specific exercises for your shoulders?
or do you find what you do works your shoulders as well?

Well my team just finished out our football season, ending it in 4-1 after an away game, on the bus on the way back it was so crunk/hyper as we rocked the bus (litterally) screamed, chanted, and just plain out partied.
Then we broke out our chant (Stolen from Remember the Titans)

That's not 100 a day, that's 100 in one setting if I go all out But I don't do it when I work out because I think it is better to do 40-70 in several sets than do 100 in a row and then be too tired to do any more.
If you want to work shoulders alone - lift dumbells.
My drawing probably sucks, but here it goes:

I've heard many different ways of adjusting weight and sets, I have a link to a very interesting method that gives you really good results relatively fast. I can look for it once I get home if you want. But that one is for hardcore bodybuilders. It is easy to hurt yourself doing it unless you are 100% sure you know what you doing. I would suggest just choosing a weight that you can lift around 15 times and do 3 sets of it.
As for me - I think that holding your hands up for an hour during M.T. (especially if you are holding pads for someone) tends to give your shoulders some workout. But other than that I guess I don't really work them that much. Maybe I'll start doing smth to work my shoulders. But I don't want to do weights because I think they make you a bit tense and slow, which isn't very good for fighting.
Btw, you want to work your shoulders because you want to stop being able to fit in the doorframe one of those days?
