here what i reckon the best lvl 7 creatures are:
1. black dragon (best health (300), speed faster than most (15), total magic immunity, 2 hex fire breath, extra damage to titan)
2. archangel (2nd best health (250), 2nd fastest(18), resurrection ability, extra damage to arch devil, +1 to morale)
3. ancient behemoth (best health (300), 2 worst speed (9), -80% to targeted creatures defense)
4. gold dragon (2 best health (250), speed faster than most (16), magic immunity lvl 1-4, 2 hex fire breath)
5. titan (best health (300), 3rd worst speed (11), only ranged unit of all lvl 7, extra damage to black dragon, no melee penalty, mind spell immunity)
6. phoenix (lowest health (200), fastest (21), fire spell immunity, rebirth, 2 hex fire breath, best growth)
7. arch devil (lowest health (200), 3rd fastest (17), -1 enemy luck, no enemy retaliation, extra damage to archangels)
8. chaos hydra (2 best health (250), slowest speed (7), attacks all adjacent enemies, no enemy retaliation)
9. ghost dragon (worst health (200), speed faster than most (14), -1 enemy morale, attack ages enemies)
these rankings are not accounting for each creatures attack/defense stats, heroes stats or spells attained by hero

That's your opinion, but in reality black dragons sux (not that i don't like them), they loose to archangels, archdevils, ancient behemots and titans.
And lol - about that titan vs black dragon challange, if without blessing then it's just a random statistic who would win

Well...i too think that Archangels are the best. But if the enemy gets a morale bonus, then Archangels may lose.
My favorite creature is Ancient Behemoth - they, especially with bless, are vicious killing machines! Just don`t cast Disrupting Ray...
Titans with their mind spell immunity are the best shooters.Also i always wondered how the can move such long distances. So it`s my favorite creature too, unless you can`t have 2 favorites.
CHAOS HYDRAS SUCK. They are pretty weak and can`t even kill a Ghost Dragon, when it ages them!!!
Did you noticed that Gold and Black Dragons have slightly different stats? So Red Dragon overpowers the Green Dragon and Black Dragon overpowers Gold Dragon.
Ghost Dragons would lose to everyone without their aging ability...
Phoenixes can beat an Archangel with their rebirth...
Now i`ll sort it:
1. Archangel
2. Phoenix
3. Ancient Begemoth
4. Titans
5. Black Dragons
6. Gold Dragons
7. Ghost Dragons
8. Chaos Hydras
It`s my own opinion though...

I've played with many factions and this is the way I sort it:
1) Pheonixes. These are my favorites. Partly this is because:
Week growth of Pheonixes = 800 HP, 80-160 DAM, 21 SPEED.
" Titans = 600 HP, 80-120 DAM, 11 SPEED.
" Black Dragons = 600 HP, 80-100 DAM, 15 SPEED.
" Archangels = 500 HP, 100 DAM, 18 SPEED.
Once I had 180 Pheonixes and I just split them into 4 stacks along with 2 stacks of 75 Magic Elementals. I just cast Armageddon with 26 SP and Expert Fire Magic. WHAM!!! (As if 180 pheonixes weren't enough  )
2) Archangels. No need to bless them, and their excellent speed give a
great chance of acting first. Their overall power give a great advantage to Castle players.
3) Titans. These are pretty close to my favorite troops. Shooting is a great ability for a level 7, and their pretty good 11 speed is
excellent for a shooter but slow for a Level 7 However it's good enough to carry them into the thick of the battle when the shots run out and the Ammo Cart's busted. Massive HP as well, no Blind or Hypnotize, and help batter down the Black Dragons that come to decimate your troops 
4) Black Dragons. These are lots of people's All-time Favorites. 300 HP and Magical Immunity should NOT be mixed together.   'Nuff said.
5) Ancient Behemoths. Also 300 HP, but extremely low Attack, Defence and Damage compared to Archangel for example -
ANCIENT BEHEMOTHS: 19 Attack, 19 Defence and 30-50 Damage.
ARCHANGELS: 30 Attack, 30 Defence and 50 Damage.
The only good thing is their -80% Defence ability.
6) Ghost Dragons. Even lower stats, but the Aging ability makes up for it.
7) Chaos Hydras. Pretty much useless - even if teleported into a crowd of troops they are still killed off and surrounded by troops. Still they can be quite powerful in large numbers - I've seen 13 Chaos Hydras and a small army kill 40 Red Dragons.
If you have any disagreements or versions of this summary, go for it!

For UNUPGRADED Lvl 7 Creatures:
1: firebird: good weekly growth, fire immunity, and fastest speed.
2: angel: although devil can kill an angel 1 on 1, but angel's damage, attack/defense and speed are among the best of lvl 7s.
3: devil: no retaliation is sweet.
4: red dragon: overall is good.
5: green dragon: overall is good, but a bit weaker than red dragon, cost 100 gold less.
6: giant: need more health and speed, great damage.
7: bone dragon: need more health, remember to bless them...
8: behemoth: too slow, little health, low defense/attack pts.
9: hydra: way too slow, ok health, low damage. the enemy is not that dumb to surround your hydra.
Note: hydra is not popular among players.

Great post dude, but why does everyone say that Hydras suck? They might be slow, but using the classic teleport tactic, and no retal + all around and that forces your foe to use 1 on 1 and if we doesn't, hydras get the advantage, so hydras are more of a strategic creature.

1v1 only one creature can be a real rival for Archangel and that is Ancient Behemoth.
I already posted my tests, but at normal growth Phoenix has an advantage.

Phoenix is the weakest, but very fast and resurrection works if you lots of them, but 1 on 1, they get pwnd.

The best thing is, you can transform hydras. They don't look exactly like a dragon, but it works. That's perfect, nobody likes hydras anyway.

Ok here's my opinion, but since the name of the thread is "BEST" creature I'm not gonna take my favorites, that's a different list. VERY different.
1. Sadly I have to say Pheonix. 4 pheonixes beats 2 of any other lvl 7. They are even cheap!
2. both Arch devil and angel, they are equal because of the no retaliation and the resurrect abilities.
4.Gold and black dragons. Equal too, goldies have higher speed, 1 speed is important, but blacks got spell immunity. It's different from time to time, just like the devil/angel thing.
6.Titans, I love titans, but they dont match the other lvl 7. Due to their low speed they can't match the ones above. But it does get on 1 place against lower lvl units.
7.Ghost dragon, age is great.
8.Behomoths and Hydras, both is cheap easy to get quite fast and they are about equal, both are OVERPOWER if u use spells right (prayer for example). The best one differs.¨, hydras strikes at everyone and got no retaliation but behomoths are generaly better.
Ofcourse wich one who actually is the best one depends on what situain you are in, there are some who are better in most times, but are useless in some positions. Nobody is best at all but everyone's good at something!

Ancient behemoths do come in handy sometimes with good offensive (20% DEF ability) and defensive (300 HP) capabilities
and you're right, I did forget Goldies in my list. I think they're about 5.5th because theyre not as good as Ancients but they're much faster and they cant be weakened as easiliy with spells as Ancients due to 1-4th level spell resistance

If we link them to the econmic part (creature/dweeling cost, how fast can you get them etc.) the Ancient Behemoths are probably the strongest. They have a very good health (300 hp, the first value, tough Titans and Balck Dragons also have 300 hp), but medium damage and low attack skill and defense skill. The low attack skill will be boosted by the Barbarian/Battle Mage high attck skill, but especially by their ability to ignore 80% enemy defense. And high attck skill (and a verry big diference between their attck skill and the enemy defense) means excellent damage. So their only problem is low defense skill, and probably their relative speed. They work good with Earh Magic to increase their Defense Skill (Shield and Stoneskin) and Anti-Magic(due to their great offensive potential and little native magic resistance, they're favourite targets for Blind or Berserk ..or Implosion!)

if I try to be objective I would say :
1) phoenix (because imba)
2) Archangel (because imba, but less than phoenix)
3) Black dragon (huge resistance, magic immunity, fire breath)
4) Gold dragon (slightly faster than BD but easier to kill and targetable with implosion)
5) Archdevil (fast and no retaliation, but a bit weak and no magic resistance)
6) Titan (very strong but slow)
7) ancient behemoth (too slow and no magic resistance but quite strong, especially versus other levels 7)
8) chaos hydra (good abilities but way too slow and weak)
9) ghost dragon (pretty fast but very weak. the ability has too little chance to work)
and subjectively :
1) archdevil / black dragon
3) Gold dragon
4) Titan
5) Behemoth
6) chaos hydra / archangel / phoenix
9) ghost dragon
