Male and Female in H5

Not that it would considerably lower my excitement for the game, but am I the only one who smells a slight odor of sexism in H5, a hint of pointy-eared machismo? I don't speak about the nudity which is equally shared among the creatures of all gender or whatever. But the male creatures are all concentrated and have totally important matters on their minds. The women are mostly evil and demonic, they dominate with their boots and whips, and the succubus is truly inflaming (with ranged attack that strikes many, so beware!). And now that Red Straps Dungeon heroine [small pic below] is not only over top, but CHEAP. (The others count only half: The angel is obviously asexual and the pixie is a child left in nature.)

And while H3 and H4 carefully doubled all heroes on the adventure and battle screens, now there seem to be only male on both. (Or is the warlock a she? And of course we don't really know about the skeleton.)

A bit much evil sex female and a bit little other female, don't you think? Or is that the way it has to be?

[edit: The thread was started when the creatures were known, but only a few heroes pics had just come out. It looks a little different now.

Feel free to use the thread to comment not only on sexism, but on female and male in H5 in general.

I think the Red Straps Dungeon heroine (Kythra) deserves to be shown in her full voluptuous splendor here, after the recognition she gets in this thread:]

that is just the way fantasy is, especially in with HOMM. some creatures just have to be a certain gender, like harpies or a sorceress must be female. other creatures are just male, maybe because it is hard to accept a female in a certain role, such as a blade dancer (not the best example but it'll do)

other creatures can be either male or female, like the sylvan Hunter or Druid, but in most cases these creatures are male, for one reason or another.

its not sexist or anything, its called "being realistic

Maybe what Loknar means is, those ladies should have shopped a more proper clothing. Dungeonettes should wear long skirts and sweaters. Ain't it cold down there?

Yeah, I was paying too much attention on

Which remind me to this picture of Dungeon heroine which I agree is cheap. Well, other games sexist too, but see what happens to GTA San Andreas. Such picture will definitely increase Heroes V ESRB rating, and how many people will buy Heroes V because the dark elves are sexy? Compared to the loss of potential kids and low-teens players, IMO Nival should remove such excess sexiness from the game.

Female units must not have that so minimalist clothing. Why don't just bring harpies back? They are more mythical and still have the same strike-and-return ability. Because the new one looks better? Now that is machist!

Being realistic... hmm, I think that's true. In real world, naughty girls wearing sexy clothing are usually evil, while good girls who deserve lifetime commitment use far more polite outfits.

Thanks for the link, that's the one I had in mind.

I also think it was economically stupid of Ubisoft or whoever made the decision. HoMM was attracting lots of children.

I must be living in a parallel universe. In my world, there are lots of women who are sexy and powerful and not in the least evil. But my point actually was that apart from that, the "girls who deserve lifetime commitment" (in what clothes ever) seem to be left out of H5.

I would say whats more important is the under-representation of women and hot girls that play computer games.

I demand that for every man who plays computer games, one woman should do the same. Equality starts right here, at the computer screen!

50/50 on computer games!

Now if they don't like the games, I suggest they learn to program games and make games that they like.

I feel this is an important step in the equality of genders. Then we can talk about the virtual gender representation in the game, but reality must come first.

In other words, Bjorn, or in my intrepretation at least, you are saying "It doesn't matter, it's boys who play the game anyway". Right?

Does it mean that as a male, you naturally prefer an all male game? Why is that?

I think Bjorn says, it's ok to represent evil sex women since the game is mostly played by men anyway.

It's funny. When I was seeing the dungeon faction I was thinking about this.

Couple of thoughts about sexism in games:
I don't like the typical sex fiend who wears tight clothes. Tomb raiders and stuff are games that use a wrong argument, even thought the game itself may be good (don't know).
I also don't go with the all-tough-male aproach.
Just gotta balance it a bit that's all.

Regarding heroes: you steer yourself by logic a bit. The female character, when bringing real-life into play, doesn't create that strong felling that some cretures require, like a paladin for example: women's bodies are less prone to muscular development bla bla bla. On the other hand, this is a fantasy game and you can do whatever.

I just don't see the point of being sexy. A level 7, double axe yelding armor fire breathing giant of the abyss will have what to fear from a woman with litle clothing? Temptation?

Make em wear weapons and armor when its needed I say. When it's the magical aspect the creators seek (the best role they can find to compensate physical weakness) at least give them some protection.

No I think we should encourage more women players by making a male speedo faction.  I am working on the pictures right now.  Then maybe they can sell with using chip n dales on the cover.  It would be the complete opposite of other games.

Seriously the pictures of the women in their bikini outfits makes want to buy the game less.  I feel stupid for buying this garbage, but since every game nearly does this I have no choice if I want to play games.  I hate playing with other players that simplify women to this.  I think it is worse on the permenant effects it leaves on children that play the games constantly.

I mean in heroes 3 what was with the armored knight in the movie wearing the bikini.  I would buy the game with male models on the front in underwear just because I know it would be different, and I am a male and have no homosexual relationships.  I know the day I see that is the day that the particular game is trying to make something revolutionary other than look at the hot seductive woman don't you want to buy it.

Ok, you are NOT a female.

I don't think this will work because it is degrading when it come to lusting of flesh.

The female mind is a complex machine that is able to process thoughts in partition and not at a single brute speed. Wearing speedo may exceeds the speed limit they can handle, driving them into an utter state of shock and ta-da, it landed up in the bin without a tomorrow.

No you did not understand me.  I was being sarcastic.  Not that women would buy games because of the male speedos but because of the very fact they were making fun of the male idea by putting them in speedos on the cover.  Would you not stop and look at the game just because of the men in speedos, and then wonder what the hell is this?

Unless I got you wrong, and you think that women running around in bikinis show how complicated they are that they need to be oiled properly.  I want men in speedos as a opposite to laugh at versus the stupid crap they do with women in their full plate bikinis like in the Heroes 3 introduction.

Minimal clothing is cool1

When I play any computer game and its got an option of creating a character of your own I always make 2 versions. One a male, which I try to make him as scary and powerfull as I can and the other is a female, which I make as sexy as I can and ofcourse make her wear very VERY minimal clothes!

That just what we guys want in our games and the programmers give that to us. We want the male to represent us and be as powerfull as he can be, on the other hand the female should be only qute and sexy and wear little clothes if not nude at all.

Am I right or am I just a sick individual?
