Just like the regular FS spell, Protection From FIRE will greatly reduce its effect.
That is so useful I think it could be put in a separate hint.Quote: Virtual beer, on the other hand, DOESN'T get you drunk! (Trust me, I ran tests for that, along with Russ!)

* I agree with Russ for both statements !
* Angel just gave me some valuable info about the Phoenixes Rebirth that help my testings immensely : Quote: Rebirth is easy to explain. It has nothing to do with damage. It´s similar to the DeathStare. Every phoenix has a specific chance for Rebirth :
1 phoenix can raise 1
2-4 can raise 2
5-7 can raise 3
8-11 can raise 4
and so on
Angelito (the wise Wizard)
That said, I think there must also be something about the chances at Rebirth : the less units in the stack, the less likely they are to get Rebirth. And that part still seems damage-related to me...
I mean, a single Phoenix never Rebirthed in front of me when I dealt him serious damage !
Is that a mere coincidence ?

Just a reminder from Xarfax posted 1-1/2 days ago.
Quote: Please give here your LAST list within the next days. Please remember that each line cant be above 150 letters and to ensure to fit i would max it at 140 letters per line.
After this i will go over it and may change some lines (some peeps may forgive me that ) if its "not clear enough or not rumorous enough". I dont gonna check if there is something still false in those lines, so please this must be 100% waterproofed.
I'm trying to figure time zones and my "not normal" sleeping hours. It's early thursday for me now.
**************************
I can't promise an exact time. But I will try to post the FINAL list late friday my time. I have to add any last minute changes before then. Bottom line is, any comments made after approx saturday 0500-0700 GMT might not make it. After about 0900-1000 GMT will not make it. To be safe, be early.
**************************
The important thing now is final testing about FACTS. Not getting picky about the wording.
An example:
"a skeleton is undead" is a true statement. Just because a zombie is undead doesn't change the truth about a skeleton.

Ok...then i will add one more thing:
If you cast "Prayer" on an already "Mass Slowed" creature, it adds only +2 speed and not +4. However, if u cast "Haste" next turn, the "prayer spell" reveals its full potential and adds the missing +2 speed aswell.
So "Slow" influences Prayer not only when casted after it, but even when casted before it.

Off topic
What do you peeps think about me starting a thread on "testing for beginners"? The basics of testing. Basic Map Editor. Things to avoid. Problems with "randomness". People who don't test might just be lazy, but maybe they've never even used the editor before. The editor can be confusing the first time seeing it. And the help file is worthless.
/ Off topic
The one about phoenix resurrection is questionable. Maybe something about each one having a "chance" for resurrect will work. I like this one. But to make the list, a rumor style line of correct length needs to be proven and submitted.
I've found a lot of the rumors are easier to explain by example, rather than the technical stuff in the background. I would suggest testing 10 phoenix and find the RANGE of resurrected. The rumor line could be somthing like "I hear each phoenix has a chance of resurrecting it's own kind. So 10 phoenix could raise from 1-4 phoenix."
@Angelito. About prayer. Can this be said in less than 150 characters (including the credit)?
Here's a recap since my last full list.
A) Legend changed to LegenMaker
B) 93 unchanged, it's correct as is.
C) "my lord" removed
Quote: Would the credit case be re-opened if William himself posted here to clear the missunderstanding ?
Yes. Or by HCM. His word will be final.
Quote: I ran some more tests. Apparently, virtual weed doesn't get you high either
Russ, you said you tested, but I got different results. Try this. Put your fingers to your lips holding a virtual J. Suck in as hard as you can about 100 times. You will begin to feel dizzy. For best results, don't suck in Canadian air, suck in air from closer to the equator. Or try the higher potency pure oxygen.

Phoenixes
Results of my latest batch of testings :
* 41 If you have no other creatures left standing, your stack of Phoenixes will have 0% chances at Rebirth.
The " your " part of it is crucial, because it's not the case for wandering stacks.
FYI : I tested it many, many, many times. Not even once did a single stack of Phoenixes Rebirth when it was controlled by a player.
It was my original test, and I mistakenly assumed it was because of the hughe damage I dealt. While it was because the Hero dies before the Phoenixes stack gets a Rebirth.
I tried it against single wandering Phoenixes and they did Rebirth fairly often.
* Here are the rules that I derived from Angel's stats and confirmed through testing :
A stack of Phoenixes can rise up to 2 + [( Nb - 2) / 3] Phoenixes from its own ashes, with the result of the division always rounded DOWN.
Until a certain cap (somewhere between 10 and 50) above which it is capped at 20% of Nb (for instance, 100+ times in a row, a stack of 100 --> 20).
The reason the number can vary for the same stack is because chances are calculated by groups of 3, with the exception of the 2 first units that each count as a full group.
Example : A stack of 10 = 2 single groups + 2 groups of 3 + 2 useless foos that won't ever count. That's a total of 4 groups that count, and hence a maximum of 4 risen Phoenixes.
Add just one more unit to that stack and it will unite with the 2 previously useless foos to form a 5th group. So the maximum potential number of risen Phoenixes will be 5 for a stack of 11.
Conclusion : my original Phoenix line was totally inaccurate (sorry for that ).
You can either take the one I suggested here as replacement, or simply delete it and take another good leftover line instead, Bin.
Tia. Legend.
Legendary ADDIT : Quote: The one about phoenix resurrection is questionable. Maybe something about each one having a "chance" for resurrect will work. I like this one. But to make the list, a rumor style line of correct length needs to be proven and submitted.
Okay... I forgot to put that part in one sentence !
Hmm, it's a writing challenge, I must admit. Okay, I think it could work out fine using a metaphor like this :
* A Phoenixes stack is a strange family. In death, each parent has a full chance at Rebirth, but only one child out of three does !

Legend, I've read your post through three times and I think I understand what you are saying. But I don't think I'm going to use this one. Sorry. I know you spent a lot of time testing, so I thought hard before making a decision. Bottom line is I don't feel comfortable with it. Your time was not wasted and discussion can continue even after the tavern rumors are finalized. I have several questions about the disappearing clone also, but later.
41? An antimagic garrison prevents spell casting, but I heard a Faerie Dragon can still cast by using the "F" key. (Evil_Warrior)
94? An expert prayer spell normally adds 4 to creature speed, but when mixed with mass slow, it only adds half that. (Angelito)
I tested #41 with Faeries, Master Genies, AA's and Pit Lords using the "F" key. Only Faeires worked.
FYI: With prayer and mass slow, Loynis adds +1 (3 total) to levels 1-6 and no bonus for level 7. Mass weakness and prayer (not Loynis) acts normally. So -6 attack for weakness and +4 attack for prayer, total of -2.
I said 94 would be voted on. But I don't see any more new ones except these two, unless I missed something. If another comes up, it'll be popular vote for 41 and 94. Time is very short, so it must be easy to word and easy to test.
Thanks for being honest William. My mistake then. It has been changed.

94 was new to me. I should have known it, since I've done it so many times.
If the creature is mass slowed, exp prayer only adds 2 to the speed, not 4 like it normally does. It doesn't matter if slow is cast before or after prayer. A creature with base speed 10 and mass slow and prayer will have a speed of 7.

Brainstorm:
1. Phoenixes can be reborn, but don't overestimate them! Only 1 out of three phoenixes can reborn!
2. Phoenixes, majestic creatures. Their rebirth ability is marvelous, however very tiring, so only 1 out of three phoenixes might be reborn.
3. Dangerous opponents, phoenixes. I heard that 1 out of 3 of these birds rebirth from ashes!
4. Remember sir, that 1 out of 3 phoenixes rise from the ashes, though each one has a chance of rebirth.

I Love You Guys / Legendary Humiliating Statement
1) Will, I'm proud of you (for the first time) ! Thanks for doing the right thing, my padawan !
2) Bin, it's okay not to use the Phoenixes lines in the list. This has been a HUGHE (and unexpected) amount of testing work, but it's of course not wasted.
Btw, there were 2 of them, if you didn't notice :
* If you have no other creatures left standing, your stack of Phoenixes will have 0% chances at Rebirth (because your Hero dies before Rebirth can happen).
AND
* A Phoenixes stack is a strange family. In death, each parent has a full chance at Rebirth, but only one child out of three does (until you reach the cap above which it is capped at 20%).
At any rate, I for one am glad I found those facts. Next time I meet a Flux player, I'll make sure to kill his Phoenixes stack last to teach him a lesson !
3) Sonic, thanks for your efforts.
However, you missed a part of the fact : it's 1/3 except for the 2 first units of the stack (the "parents" in my metaphor) that each can Rebirth 1 extra Phoenix. Like I said : 2 + [ (Nb - 2) / 3 ]
Anyways, since the line won't be used, never mind.
4) Evil, I'm glad your Faerie Drags line finally made it to the list. I think nobody else knew that before, and Bin's testings confirmed it just fine. So your (sometimes annoying ) efforts were not in vain ! Grats.
5) Hurry, now, foos ! I'm eager to put that tavern.txt (or whatever) file next to cranim.txt and rmg.txt in my Data folder ! ! !

If I understand this right, you are saying the fight is over when the phoenix gets killed, with no chance of rebirth. I guess I thought it was obvious. But when I think about it, it can't be that obvious, because I didn't know it.....although I did assume it.
Also, am I understanding correctly? If the phoenix are with a hero, the fight is over after killing them the first time. But if it's wondering stack, the fight doesn't end after killing them the first time, but you must kill the rebirths as well.
OK, I'll accept this. But I'd like to see it rephrased for clarity. And I'd prefer, but not require both parts to be in it (assuming I understood the second part right). And you must have 100% confidence in this, not 99%.
Something like. (shown with proper word wrap)
Phoenix have 2 lives but if killing them the 1st time
ends the fight, you won't have to fight the rebirths.
But only if they’re with a hero. (LegendMaker)
The length on this is VERY close to the limit. Not because of total characters, but due to word wrap. Legend, if you make an exception to your shortened name, I can add the comma afters "lives" where it belongs, and spell out "1st".
*****
So we have a 2 out of 3 vote.
1) The phoenix
2) Antimagic garrison and Faerie
3) Prayer and slow.
Cast your votes in order of preference (1st, 2nd, 3rd choice), it will be weighted.

LMAO ! You sound just like me when Angel had just revealed his Slow / Prayer thingie... Quote: Also, am I understanding correctly?
Yes, Sir ! Only when it's on a Hero and there is NO other units left, Ballista included ! I did a few more tests with Sir Christian, and his single Phoenix Rebirthed fairly often. But if I destroyed his Ballista first, then just like my other tests : NO Rebirth EVER.
Quote: And you must have 100% confidence in this, not 99%.
I have 1000% confidence in this. That's approximately the number I tried it, and I ended up with the same result 100% of the time.
I can't guarantee it for larger stacks, I mostly tested it with one single Phoenix. About 1/4 of my testings focused on various quantities.
I know the Rebirth calculation rule switches from the one I calculated to a constant 20% somewhere before the 50 units. Meaning, a stack of 100 will ALWAYS Rebirth 20 Phoenixes, no more no less (if Rebirth occurs, of course).
So the possibility of the chances calculations also changing above that cap do exist and can't be ignored.
I dare anyone to show me a single Phoenix controlled by a Hero getting a Rebirth when he is the only unit left on his side ! I'm this confident about it !
Tavern Style :

* Do not expect your one Phoenix to resurrect without other troops or machines to back it up, Hero ! You'd die before it can rise.

The Earthquake spell is a nice way to get inside a castle, but it will never knock down a wall with one casting. (LegendMaker)
When all your allied creature are dead, your clones will disappear, but summoned creatures will keep fighting to the end. (LegendMaker)
One nice thing about cloning or hypnotizing creatures with special abilities, their specials still work. (LegendMaker)
Funny thing about Mass Counterstrike, even if dispelled it will continue to work until the end of the round. (Conanthebarbarian)
Windmills are a good way to gather any resource except wood and gold. (Vlaad)
It's best not to carry the Grail into a fight. If you lose, it will be lost forever. (Vlaad)
Disrupting Ray is a nasty spell and nothing can remove it, but Antimagic will prevent it from being cast in the first place. (Vlaad)
Magogs are not magical creatures, so no amount of immunity or resistance is protection from their fireball. (Supersonic)
Be careful leaving your creatures in a moat, they will take 10% more damage when attacked. (Binabik)
Wondering creatures tend to breed a lot, I've heard it's 10% each week. (Binabik)
The troops of a hero with expert leadership and the Crest of Valor will have +3 morale. If undead join the group, they will still have +3 morale. (Zsa)
An expert prayer spell normally adds 4 to creature speed, but when mixed with mass slow, it only adds half that. (Angelito)
Astral told me when creatures have spell immunity from artifacts, his Hypnosis cancels the immunity. (Xarfax)
A mage informed me he always knows which creatures his area spells will affect, because he sees a blue halo around the targets. (Xarfax)
Rogues are good at picking their victims. Having them in your army is like having an expert Vision spell with 1 spell power. (Zsa)
Antimagic is highly effective against the abilities of Zombies, Unicorns, Thunderbirds and Mummies. (Binabik)
If your Archangels, Archdevils or Ghost Dragons die in battle, their morale and luck benefits remain. (LegendMaker)
The Spirit of Oppression does wonders to keep the enemy from attacking again from high morale, but does nothing if their morale is negative. (Csarmi)
Generals always try to gain an advantage by fighting on their own terrain, but for a fair fight, the beach is best because it's neutral ground. (Consis)
I once saw a creature turned to stone by a Medusa and get high morale, but couldn't move the second time either. (Dimis)
Odd thing about the underground. It can have any type of terrain, but battles always take place on subterranean. (Vlaad)
The defender in a siege not only has the advantage of castle walls, but also fights on the town's native terrain. (Vlaad)
I was reading a manual on battle tactics that claimed damage is reduced by 2% for each point attack is less than defense. But it's really 2-1/2%. (Binabik)

Boats at sea gain 5 more movement for each lighthouse owned. But be warned, you can't take advantage of it until the day after taking ownership. (Binabik)

Minotaur Kings are happy creatures. Even mixed with 7 races, they still have positive morale. They don't like the Spirit of Oppression though. (Binabik)
Wyvern Monarchs are nasty creatures. They not only poison their victims, but age them as well - 10% each turn, up to half their health. (Zsa)
Even if your Elves have run out of shots, clones will start with a full supply of ammo. (Evil_Warrior)
If you are looking for a good deal at the Artifacts Merchant in your town, try waiting until you have more markets. (Binabik)
The vendors at the Black Market are a little shady, but they have good prices. About the same as the Merchant in town when you own five markets. (Binabik)
I don't trust Psychic Elementals and their level 5 mind spells. At least they only do half damage if you have mind spell immunity. (Csarmi)
The magic attack of a Magic Elemental is so strong, Black Dragons and other Magic Elementals are the only creatures who can reduce it by half. (Csarmi)
Somehow Elementals from the four schools of magic seem to get along in the same town, but on the battlefield they will do twice as much damage to the opposing school. (Csarmi)
In the book "Morale of 3 Heroes", it says a creature might freeze if it has negative morale. I happen to know it has twice the chance the book says. (Csarmi)
Even if you kill your opponent's Silver Pegasi, you will still have to pay more to cast spells. (LegendMaker)
If you see a pack of creatures one week, and lots the next, you know there are 20-21 of them. (Xarfax)
The abilities of Efreets, Dendroids, Ghost Dragons, Medusa, Scorpicore, Basilisk and Wyvern Monarchs are so powerful, not even Antimagic will stop it. (Bin)
Do not expect your one Phoenix to resurrect without other troops or machines to back it up, Hero! You'd die before it can rise. (LegendMaker)

What do you mean with Final Version, Bin?
Does this thread still continue?
If yes, these are my next rumours :
1. All types of Secondary Skills found in Witch Hut or Scholar can be learned by all types or Heroes.
2. Scholar that has been set to give a spell in map editor, will give a secondary skill or primary skill if the visiting hero doesn't have required Wisdom.
3. Unlike other Moats, Tower land mines don't do damage to allied creatures on them. (just see the Wyvern Monarch in my pic of Azure Dragon's immunity).
PS : Scholar above means 'monk that brings book'. Not Secondary skill.

Final version means it's the final version. Xarfax will compile the list so it can be used in the tavern.
No more will be added to the list for the tavern. But there is a second list which is more technical. I don't know what will happen to that. It needs to be discussed.
As for your new ones. The first is already in the list. The 3nd one, everybody already knows.
The second one, I guess I never really thought about it. With a random map, if the scholar had a higher level spell, you would never know it because it would give you something else. It will always give you SOMETHING.
As you said, it would have to be done in the editor to know about it. If a map maker wants you to know a specific spell like that, then the map should be designed to make sure you have the wisdom level. Otherwise, it's a poorly designed map.

All Hail Binabik the Workaholic ! ^___^
Nice job, Bin !
Btw, once Xarfie will have compiled the list into a usable file... How will he give it to us ?
Will it have to be a laborious process like : he gives it to Angel, then Angel gives it to someone else and so on ? (In which case peeps who don't have any link of the chain in their contacts list won't ever get the file...) ?
Or is there some better organized plan for hosting and distribution of the file that I don't know of yet ?
Legendary Cheers !

Thumbs Up
Quote: Save that as Text File into your Heroes Data Folder! Please let me know if there are any problems with the file.
Okay, new week arrived but... " I heard the Tower ppl will build a great Skyship if you bring them the Grail..." usual BS appeared !
Maybe it's because I added the file in my data folder after the game had already been launched (I was already ingame when I noticed your post)...
I'll test it out when my current game is finished. You know what ? I'm in a game right now and I'm more eager than ever to see the new week arrive ! Quote: To all participants: Good work! Thumbs up!
Thank you ! And thumbs up to you, chief !

Seems to work in about 50%(very short test though) of week starts.
OT: That's a better success rate than that of jebus creating playable maps during the testing process(got attacked day12 once and was townblocked by horde mummies the 2nd game )
