Tested it some more : it works to some extent, but it doesn't replace the standard rumors, it adds our list on top of the 3DO one.
So every new rumor, it can either be one of ours or a regular one. 
Still better than nothing.

It works for me with both regular HOMM and WOG. But I don't need the rumors. After the time I've spent with this, if I didn't know them before, I sure as hell know them now!
I only checked two weeks, and both were new rumors.
Um, Xarfax, you should have trusted my English, it's my native language.

About you guys seeing the new rumors half the time mixed with the old ones. It depends on what you mean. There are two types of rumors. General rumors like "a skeleton is undead". And game specific rumors like "red makes the most gold".
I ran a test for over a year. I got the game specific types maybe 10-20% of the time (I didn't count). The rest were all new ones.
BTW, Game specific rumors are lies. Blue can make 4 times as much gold as red and it will say "red makes more gold".

1 year game:
26 new ones, 22 game specific, the latter were leading the count by 1-3 until month 11 when the week of the ladybug changed things to the better.
So it's the way, Legend said, an addition instead of a replacement.

My h3 is upgraded to wog. I ran the normal exe, then restarted lik 50 times. Only the new rumors upgraded. Still some of them needs to be corrected though. Minor errors.

Good News :
Okay, so it seems that the file technically works as it was supposed to. I still have doubts about what you all said : I for sure got some STANDARD rumors as well, not just game specific.
"Tower will build a Skyship if you bring them the Grail". This isn't in the same category as "Blue earns the most gold", is it ?

I simply copy pasted Bin's FINAL version of the list into a blank .txt file and named it randtvrn.txt.
Tested it : it works fine. As fine as Xarfax's previously posted version, technically.
Feel free to either DL that file and put it in your Data Folder or do just like I did to create a fresh one, folks !

Why the hell has such a good thread turn into a flame fest?
This thread was Xarfaxs idea, and no1 can change this fact. Most of the members (except the newer ones) know, Xarfaxs speciality is NOT diplomacy, so his post was quite obvious for me..
But this is NOT the chance for others to make it a flamewar.
Xarfax will edit his post, i´m sure, and i wanna suggest to the other participants to either delete and / or edit their posts too.
Everyone who is NOT satisfied with the final file Xarfax made can change it and edit it the way he likes (as Xarfax already mentioned some pages before).
No need to criticize the final list then. Change it like u want it to be, and everything is fine.
Every further complaints can be posted in the Library Feedback, keep this thread clean.

Damn!
This all happened while I was asleep.
Time to pick up the pieces and move on.
I have all the original lists that got deleted. I'll try piecing things together. I'll edit my ealier posts with the part of the list that seems appropriate for that time during the thread. Maybe somewhat restore the flow for anyone new reading it.
But not right now.

Csarmi, dude, I can't answer for others, but three reasons made me do so :
1) After Xarfie deleted his share of the flame war, my share became ununderstandable and unnecessary.
2) Angel asked to clean the thread.
3) To avoid unnecessary penalties on this soap opera mess.
@Bin : I HCMed Val about the backup feature I told you about. Please refrain from mass editing older posts until he answers.

Thanks for the intention, Dimis, but it wasn't necessary :
* If / When Val's backup feature comes into play, no doubt all useful posts deleted by Xarfie will be back. This would include the one you quoted here.
* As for Bin's Final Version, not only is his post still there for all to read, but it's also saved as a usable text file I posted a link to in this here thread. So there's hardly a need for an extra backup of it, is there ?

I edited my above post and now contains only Xarfax's post since as you correctly pointed out Bin's post is still there. I also removed quotation which seemed to result in enlarging the post. Finally, I might (edit: not might anymore) delete the above post (I 'll leave a reference for what it was about) since it seems a bit outplaced here + I have a feeling that since it does not add anything substantial (like the final list) I harass Xarfax's feelings and his intention of deleting his posts.

this feature is indead great and i have already experimented it in games.
One thing though: Can someone who knows how to extract these files can set the rumours to appear in tavern on the oponent's turn also?
It will be better to read those rumours on others turn than on your own.
Also i wonder if it is possible to make the rumours appear daily not weekly?
Also, will this affect the rumour that forecasts plague of population doubling at the end of the month?(may be good to know)
