Ok..what we do have so far is:
1. True
- happened to me lately when fighting 1 stack of faeries with only 1 mastergenie. faeries started, casted lightning bolt, mg dead, faeries had moral, then battle ended immediately.
2. True
- My idea was the "sirens". Xarfaxīs idea about the scholar is also possible
3. True
- You can have even more than 55 heroes.
4. Wrong
- There is a rumour about that issue, but itīs not true. Only titans and black dragons hate each other
5. Wrong
- The maximum is even higher. I wonder if anyone finds out the maximum and the interesting (and new to me) part of that.
So please, only post suggestions to no. 5 now.

WRONG. It's 17 :
* Native Terrain +1
* Necklace of Swiftness +1
* Ring of the Wayfarer +1
* Cape of Velocity +2
* Terek's enhanced Expert Haste on Level one unit +8
* Expert Prayer +4
1 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 8 + 4 = 17, not 18 !

Casting Haste on a previously Slowed stack dispels the Slow on top of applying, like I explained in detail there (post called "Bonuses, anyone ?"). But it has nothing to do with a "speed increase !
Well, if you take that type of things into account, how about a +42 increase, then ? You just cast " Cure " on a previously blinded stack (that had all those speed bonuses we all listed before) and its speed goes from ZERO to 42 ! Fantastic, huh ?
C'mon, Angel and crew, be serious for a second ! A speed increase = the total amount of BONUS movement points the unit gets. Counting the dispelling of Negative spells and the return of the creature's NORMAL speed as bonuses is plain ridiculous !

No he didnīt.
Even a blinded stack has a specific speed (just click on the unit and watch it), even though it cannot move.
Increase of speed has nothing to do with speed bonus, but with a current status of speed "x1", and after a specific act, it has a different speed "x2". And now, x2-x1 = increase of speed.

Acknowledged.
That said, what I explain in details in my previous post is the Maximum Speed BONUS a unit can ever get in this game. Even though it doesn't have much to do with your actual question, I must admit.

I had my hero Cyra on lev 73.
I had an ArchAngel.
I was on Grass Terrain.
Here it goes:
ArchAngels have a default speed of 18.
In battle I did these things-
Cast Expert haste- +6 speed
Cast Expert Prayer- +4 speed
I had Cape of Velocity which is +2 speed
I had Necklace of Swiftness which is +1 speed.
I got my ArchAngels speed up to 31.

If the scholar teaches a secondary skill u already have (at basic or advanced), this secondary skill will "level up" from basic to advanced or from advanced to expert.
Itīs not exactly what i was looking for (sirens), but was a nice idea ( in my eyes...).

An increase of +20 is possible with angellic alliance + ring of wayfarer + cape of velocity and a phoenix on grass. Speed at start is 29, opponent cast expert slow (speed is 14) , haste from Brissa gives 34 speed.
But with Sir Mullich it's possible to go from 15 to 36 speed, thus increase of 21 (bonus of Mullich is greater than the bonus of Brissa with lv 7 creatures).

OK, I thought you were talking about the hero leveling up. I know about the skill advancement, but it doesn't happen often. I only visit them with scouts who won't have many skills, so the odds are pretty low for advancement.
Haven't figured out the speed increase thing yet.

Ok, how about this:
Terek casts adv. prayer (+4) on harpy hags with 4 arties of speed (+8) on subterranean (+1). Harpy hags have written speed of 22 (9+4+1+8). Opponent casts slow, harpies have 11, terek casts adv haste, harpies have 31 (increase by 20), but they travel double the amount (because they fly back), so the increase is 40. Beat that!
Ok, the other example (thanx to Legend, who gave me the idea). A stack that is tied to the ground by ents has speed 0. After all he operations, our phoenixes' speed is 42, but they are tied by dends, so the speed is 0. Then, somebody kills the dends and phoenixes' speed increase by 42.

With that logic, same goes for the primary skills. Attack skill "levels up" from 3 to 4 when visiting Mercenary Camp and so on .

how do you give +8 speed with artifacts, I don't understand the logic. It doesn't work with garrisoned heroes + visiting heroes.

As already stated in a further post, no creature can have a speed of ZERO. The speed which is shown on the creature info is the one that counts. With your logic, a peasant could increase its speed by 1600% with teleport (have speed 1, teleport from top left corner to bottom right corner), but even if teleported, their speed still is 1.
And your example about the harpies is meant as joke i suppose, coz with your logic, those harpies would have speed 19 in underground without any spells or arties and would be faster than the blackies (speed 9, forth and back, native terrain)
