Quote: Tactics? Windstrider boots?
Quote: atb is so random. You can get a first move like half of the time.
Yeah, these could make this strategy work but the very last thing I want to rely on is luck of getting all this things in pretty short period of time like 4-5 weeks (necro's advantage deadline on two-towns maps) and "player luck" with atb.
When playing big maps with several neutral towns to get (great for necro) and more time for development and getting artifacts - then I see this strat possible. Well, I should try this but not on small/middle maps.

Attack is not a rare skill for necromancers. I don't think there is a problem getting it. Ordinary warlock won't take it*, so you're pretty much guaranteed to be able to use tactics it on battlefield.
*Watch out for better warlock players, they can do a lot of tricks.

If you want the troops to be decent
Get battle frenzy?
Get the cold enchanments (chilling bones ect)
Advantage with necro's is creeping has its rewards with troops
Battle frenzy basically doubles skeletons damage.. Atleast thier doing something now.
Zombies to weaken emeny troops that are at your range.
Vampires hurt if used well
Ghosts attract alot of tropps when vs AI and incorperal is really helpful here, steal ammo? Id recommend.
Wraiths Harm touch is handy when they are cut down short.
Banshee howl?
Use your spells wisely.
Raise Dead near end of battle along with eternal servit.
Lichs are helpful with this and can also weaken troops
Dragons are a dissappointment if you ask me.
I suppose necro arn't great, but just use what you have got, if you oppent has good magic don't bother I guess...
Attack and Deffence seem to get rolled often.(ive noticed)
If you have ulti banshee your armys really got a lead on them but I do agree they seem a bit underpowered.
someone should make a world known mod that improves necro.

I started playing undead a while ago, and I find them bare strong, both long game and short game
Short game
First, u can rise bare many undead creture in the first week, specially skeleton.
Skeleton soldier are bare strong, combine with zombie they merk off enemy fast. (I never upgrade to skeleton archer, they crap)
keep use raise dead to reduce unit lost in neutrol creature battle
Mass decrease enemy luck and morale in early game if u choose that banshee hero.
===
Later game
Arch lich or lich master, keep use rise dead or decay the enemy
Soldier's luck + vampire lord and skeleton soldier.
Dark magic combine with raise dead

Playing necro is much more complicated than things you've written, I'm afraid. Especially against strong offensive towns like Dungeon which can deal so much damage that you won't even keep up with raising dead.
See previous posts for more advanced strategy.

Against dungeon youc should choose either Zoltan or Lucretia. Zoltan have easy access to swift mind and Lucretia can learn counterspell really fast.

hi i think the mightiest faction in HOMM5 is Inferno but my favorite is Necropolis the Inferno is really mighty because:
#the Imp steal mana very much mana expecially if it is a Familiar
#the Succubus Mistress bounce attack is very powerful if they are in large numbers
#the Nightmare is truly effective against other low level creatures even when they are in few numbers but in large numbers it could easily kill others
#the Pit Lord is very effective because of the Fireballs and Meteorshowers area effect
#the Archdevil can teleport which give him slight advantage in large numbers they are devastating and resist many attacks

POSITIVE
1.Well, necromancy. Raising back things and stuff.
2.Also, in my opinion Necropolis is simply the best because of one particular summoning skill: Raise Dead ( or something like , that I have the polish version and Im not sure about its english name). If you have a good hero this skill can actually raise back a massive force right back to your army PERMAMENTLY.
3.Undead and Necropolis are just cool.PERIOD.
NEGATIVE
What I'll never forget tho is the nerf of undead in ToTE. Adding this god damn Dark Energy thing ( or something like that, polish version again). Why, I ask. WHY? Whom I remember Skeleton Archers were one of the best undead units due to an old necromantic rule: quantity over quality. But now, even though the fact I can raise liches and other higher level units the amount of them is veeeery small. Simply not enough energy. It pisses me off because dragons aren't raisable and the level unit you kill is the level unit you can get ( if you destroy level 2 unit, you can raise back a small amount of lvl 2 units. If you kill lvl 1, 2 ,3,4,5 etc. lvl units in battle you still get to raise each of them. But no dragons!)Therefore we jump to a conclusion: people will (or will they?) choose vampires, liches, over lousy lvl 1 skeletons. Bye bye 3k archer armies.
Final conclusion? Necropolis might actually be hard to play, but strong if the player becomes experienced with them.

You do raise dragons by killing other dragons. Creatures are transformed tier-wise on Undead Transformer only.
In necromancy it's different (exaple: Cavaliers to Vampires)

You do? I actually never noticed that. Hmmm, that ignorance of mine. But what if I kill other lvl 7 unit, like Cyclops? That ain't giving no dragon does it?
EDIT: Asheera: perhaps, but when you have 3k of them ( and it doesn't take very long to achieve that) they're a very nice ranged attack force. You just need to watch over them, because poor bony friends are quite fragile, unlike those fat, meaty, slow zombies. I hate those zombies. They're useless.

That's exactly what I thought. I'd still prefer 100 skeletal archers over 1 ( make that even 3! daaaaaaamn) Spectral Dragons. Quantity over quality, friends.

Pfft. It's my favorite Necropolis unit (HYPOCRISM ALERT - I whined in previous posts about how people choose liches over skeletons. SHUT IT)
and the necromancy one, which I liked was already taken.

actually new necromancy rising thing is good, you can get huge amount vampires instead skellies. And you can still get over 1k skellies fast secret of this is UNDEAD TRANSFORMER,just get two more town buy there castle and of course lvl1 creature dwelling, then you get about 100-130skellies per week, also plus skellie dwelling in adv map in most maps,it means you get 400-520skellie in month so...

I'm currently enjoying necropolis for that reason. there was a week of cyclop (week 3) so that means +2 free wraiths per week (+ some other crappy units with the remaining points)
