@Aka, and what's with shooters?
Gating isn't so really fast that it will block 'em... And they can really hurt your doggys...

1. crystal dragons are the best level7 in the game.
Well, thats another level 7 better than the devils.
Quote:
2. stats don't mean much. In fact, they mean very little. Black dragon has good stats but it doesn't count since warlock has his priorities elsewhere than in having a damaging level 7 unit.
True, devils in the hand of a demon lord is probably stronger than BDs under the command of a warlock. But that has nothing to do with the stats of the creature, and does not make devils better than dragons. I would rather have black dragons with my demon lord than devils.
Quote:
3. Devils work great with demonlords, they do a lot of damage, their dwelling is cheap and they are in fact among the most damaging level7s, if you need to know (209 damage per week of archdevils compared to 205 damage per week of archangels). So I do not understand why do you think they don't hit hard. They do. Just as samiekl says, they are pretty valuable for demonlords.
Thank you. I didn't know this. You used the attack value to get to that number? I doubt that devils are also more damaging than seraphs. But enough about this. I am not saying that devils are useless. There are just so many level 7's I find stronger. The same goes for Pit Lords/Spawns, who may be considered some of the weaker rank 6. Nothing beats the Inferno tier 5 though.

Oh, I'd gladly answer, but that would take like million of possibilities to analyze. The main tips are: use your faction's strengths. Exploit your opponent's weaknesses. Make good use of racials. Be sure you know the basic rush and counter-rush strategies. Learn the priorities for each map. Be sure you know the basics and the rest is just a matter of experience. Hope that tiny bit of advice helps :-X
It helped. Thank you. Regarding the million of possibilities and knowing the basics. It is actually just the basics I want to discuss. As in: With hero A, I tend to pick skill B and C as fast as I can, and mainly creep with creature 1,2 and 3. When building my town I prioritize building the first three dwellings, then I upgrade dwelling 3 as soon as I can. At this point I focus on the economy and builds a City Hall. I always try to get dwelling 4 and either 5 or 6 before week 3 depending on resources.
It does not have to be more complex than this. Just basic build orders, skill selection and creature choises.
Anyways, thank you for the reply.

Upg-ing hell hound is a risk, personally i prefer upg-ing demons, eps vs a lot of shooters, besides, you will need a lot of wood
Try to creep with only imps and demons in early week (you can bring some cerberus too, but never upg em asap, esp in heroic)
Some inferno heroes have key perks to boost your creeping other than ballista and tent, many people never consider that
Consider swift mind is better than TA in some occasion
example:
1. marbas > aim for power of endurance, you can get it asap
2. nebiros > aim for power of speed (note: you won't get excruciating strike)
there are some unusual/rare way of creeping:
1. using fire warrior from summoning skill (very rare)
2. exploiting weakening strike (if i'm not mistaken this perk reduce enemy atk skill by 6)
creeping with demons and imps in heroic is possible, you can creep almost all moderate threat (except some shooters like crossbowmen)
keep in mind that horned overseer is better than leaper in some case

You will achieve the same result with only demons and imps (tested in heroic), and with more stockpile of wood and gold, you won't need cerberus asap if it's only for creeping, hell hound is more than enough

Avoid creeps that you can't handle without minimal loses. When you have tactics/boots , your cerberi/nightmare will be able to reach the shooters in one turn. Or if your ballista is strong enough to take down one stack per turn, just field 7 demons and gate them all on the first turn. If you want to be safer , field 7X2 demons instead of 1 so that your gates will be 100%.
@ChaosDragon
I play only heroic in campaigns , inferno one was too easy so whatever happens don't really matter. In custom maps , I always play hard. how many tier 1-2 are you going to lose per fight? My style is to be able to creep as much as possible early. More creeping = more resources eventually to build. Having cerberi means you can creep seemingly impossible stack of large creatures early game.

shardik: I took the number from my chart. Take a peek here if you want to check some numbers, but don't forget those are pretty abstract in a real game And that it doesn't take initiative into consideration. But if you wish to see the hard hitters' stats..
the most "newb-friendly" way of creeping includes the old Deleb strategy.. You may want to master it first. Basically it's just buying the tent, taking exp from chests to get a few levels (and, hopefully, ballista and tent perks - very important) and creeping the map with ballista only, horned demons in the corner of the map as meatshields and tent ressurecting them. You can add succubi, dogs, devils and other creatures later on to help, and learn dark magic ASAP to make sure you can take on really tough creeps (like 90 archangels) in third-fourth week. Flaming arrows are your number one priority after getting tent and ballista skills.

Nice chart. Paladins are seriously insane.

See, this is what I am looking for. I never really liked deleb in tote (1 extra damage pr. balista shot? come on), and I always take gold in chests. Now, I might consider taking xp to reach level 5 (isn't i level 5 where she gets a useful fireball?). Neither did I ever pick (or buy) a first aid tent. It makes a difference you say? Gotta give it a try.
Thank you.

And here we come again... you're asking how to play the game, not strategies for inferno.I mean... tent and XP from chests...

Luck is a good skill for demonlords in my opinion. No doubt, Inferno is offensive-minded faction, so luck's very good for them. Firehounds with luck , pit spawns for example can do insane damage with demonlord's ATT and lucky attack.

I don't really know if I am mistaken, but Spawns ability is triggerd only AFTER all the modificators not before their triggering... So their dmg wouldn't be soooooooo awsome...

In ToTE case, luck is late game skill, dark magic and attack are much better than luck, especially if you like rushing and fast creeping
@akaihane
Depends on the fight, but losing like 1-3 demon is ok right (rarely happen in week 1), their number will never decrease
In heroic, even no deleb (ballista) inferno can creep asap with 0 loses(even on day 1), as long as it's moderate (ofc there are some exeption), all you need is the combined army of 2 heroes
Creeping large creature that is impossible without cerberus can be done early with careful placing of gating and your real creature move, ofc you need to think hard and play carefully, some creeps need swift gating asap (esp those with high initiative)
Besides, i usually play in heroic, so upg-ing hell hound asap will seriously cripple my economy

More than 4 skills will mess your build, only if you are going to get over 20 level and have gotten the ones you want. Hellfire is decent but you need it for triplr ballista anyway.

Ofc luck is great, but don't take it early
Ballista-ing with inferno is deleb only property, you need very high luck if you want the same path with all the others, but attack and dark magic are available to all, try random heroes with inferno in heroic
Hellfire is decent, it's very deadly if combined with searing fires
And there is some hellfire abusing for creeping and harassing

Hellfire is great and it also affects balista(u don't need war macines or deleb, this is just another potent hellfire dealer).
