Science fiction elements in MM story?

Recently I have read an article on MM history and was quite surprised/disappointed to find 'Vehicular Astropod Research Nacelle', 'Central Research Observational Nacelle', 'space shuttle' in it. I have never played MM but I do play Heroes series and I really never thought the story had any sci-fi elements in it. It feels so out of place to me. A medieval fantasy world with magical creatures on some planet called 'Xylonite Experimental Environment Nacelle'? Come on...

I agree the sci-fi element in fantasy seems out of place. Like in MM where you are immersed in the fantasy world and suddenly run into futuristic stuff. It's a common theme though, in a lot of fantasy fiction.

In most of the MM games you can get guns, but they are referred to as "ancient weapons", quite fun to get a rifle and blast those dragons out of the sky really
In MMVI, there is "The Oracle", which is placed in a setting with many futuristic elements... at first none of the sci-fi stuff really fits in, but once you play it long enough, it'll start to blend in with anything else...

Yes, and all of the parts of the Might and Magic series (prior to Ubisoft anyway) had sci-fi elements except for Heroes. I know this and I've only played HoMM 2, 3, and 5. (It's a nice thing called research)

The Forge town was intended to fill that blank, but as we all know, some fans had widely objected to that.

No idea why people objected to forge...there's nothing wrong with it... it might just look a bit strange too see a troggy spear try to pierce some ultra-refined armour though...
people didn't want forge, they got conflux, and now they're all complaining about conflux... (conflux isn't as overpowered as everyone says...)

Star Trekk

Hi,

I'm new to this site, but FYI: the old Might and Magic Games had lots of references to Star Trekk.
