    Ya, Inferno is nice and they get the best spells (or have the greatest chance), except tower of course .
    The reason i don't like them is that they got so little HP, and a guy with just a lightning of 300 dmg can sometimes screw up your whole army.
    In conclusion, they are nice but I just think some races are slightly better than them .

A skilled playtester reported building up 54000+ demons (later upgraded)...granted, this isn't likely to happen in a multiplayer game but you get the drift: Inferno sucks only as much as your skills.

I'll correct you on almost every points
1. Imp: your right, they suck......but just leave em in your castle,after a month youll have some of 'em
2. Gogs do not suck, although not my favourite shooter they do important damage in the beginning.
3. Cerberi really rules...
4. you're right (suprise)
5. Pit lords do much damage, actually inferno do most per hit point , so pit lords are very useful.
6. Efreet are powerful....and i agree with andiangelslayer...they are the only unit in inferno that you dont need a brain to use
7. Devils are awesome!!! maybe some of the best level 7's, mainly 'cause of the no retaliation. And by the way, they look cool

Heroes: No inferno heroes sucks!! And Zydar rules!!! He is indeed one of the most powerful spellcasters in the game.

Stormclouds: Very useful. (imagine you being attacked in your castle, and you have youre main hero in it, your hero have implosion that do 1500 damage, but 'cause of the stomrclouds the implosion do around 1700 damage,(you're right, stormclouds are useless ))
Order of fire: Nice
Castle gate: on l and xl its awesome! although expensive it is worth it

Overall: PLZ, no noob advice here!!

This thread lacks a bit of good information / strategies how to use the units properly, especially at the beginning. Devils and Efreets are awesome to fight with, but the lower unupgraded units ar still uncommon to fight with, at least for me...

Any suggestions?

Hmm, may not be the most competent around here to comment, but i'll give it a shot, why the inferno not?
I dont play humans with inferno, but i just finished an interesting game with inferno, against two AI confluxes and an AI necro (+ he found the grail), medium map, impossible diff. Surprisingly easy.

Refering to angelito's question:
Imps are a must in ur army, in the beggining. Usually there's an imp dwell not far away, so u can get a horde of them in the first week, which is essential for fighting level 1/2 creats this early (relatively high speed, on hell ground even more, is what does the job). The gogos are excellent to complement. And i dont know about you, but i rarely find the hell hounds helpful in the first week (too fragile to lose, until upgraded). If you have them, bless is the best spell for them. Use them as troops for ur scouts (since u r not likely to use them in a fight first days). on impossible, i rarely manage to build the efreets week1, but the pit fiends I strongly recommend. As soon as you get a piece of each resource, upgrade the pit lord dwelling. Demon hoarding is what rocks about this town, and nothing else. (i had 250 demons end of month 2, this last game)
(Concerning demon hoarding, it can be useful to divide cost of a unit with its HP, and it'll give u how worthy it's to use that unit as demon fodder. Respectively, imps are really expensive (12,5 per HP) as opposed to the 7,14 per HP of the demons. So, it would be wiser if u used cheaper units for demon fodder from other towns if u are short on money.)
On tougher fights, u can send ur demon stack up front, but make sure it dies, and ur pit lords can resurrect it without any loses. (see other threads for demon hoarding)

Since its almost certain that fire magic would come, u might wanna pay special attention to Mass curse, which is an extremely useful spell. Also, the armageddon-efreet combo is a known trick, if u r lucky enough to get it, esp with Zydar (in such cases, use him as secondary hero only; u'll sweep the map in no time).

About the upgrades: I dont upgrade the gogs and the demons. Pit lords first upg, followed by cerberus (be careful. early in the game, a blessed hell hound can do more damage than the cerberus; but without the no-retaliation. meaning, u might wanna wait with cerberus upg, if u use the bless, but imo no-retaliation is too much to miss). Imp upg, can be very useful (due to extra speed), but dont buy familiars in large numbers, use them only strategically, as scouts or for taking cash from stores and banks). The arch devils upg takes time, but dont worry, cos the devil also rocks.
Good combos: Devil and cerberus do wonder with no retalation against slow stacks. Pit lord and demon - a natural pair. efreet is always good, and gog is always avarage.

[edit]Heroes: I like a lot of inferno heroes (performances, as much as good looks). Namely: Marius (demons and armorer), Pyre (ballista), Nymus (Adv Offence, although all demoniacs will get it), Octavia ($$$), Ayden (intellignece), Zydar (sorcery, though not so good), and Calid (sulfur can come in handy). So, inferno, no good heroes?! On the contrary, excellent ones imo.

good post Svarog, you pretty much summed up everything well about inferno i think. in my opinion there is no doubt inferno can be dangerous. speed between efreeti and devils only further augments this towns power. obviously armageddon can be a game breaker. 2 units with no retalition is sweet. inferno has great hand to hand combat in my opinion. cool town, you just need to know what you doing.

well the starting troops inferno has (imps and gogs) simply blow. Imps are always fodder for me, sooner or later in the game. Pit fiends aren't a must for me week 1, but efreets are. Efreet is in my opinion a crucial unit to get when playing inferno.

I consider sultans the best lvl 6 unit out there, because of their mobility and fire immunity.

They give you speed for the heroes, and they allow you to take on stacks of ranged units with very few or no loses.

Mobility and the ability to take down ranged creatures easely is something i wouldn't pass for pit fiends week 1 (if i can get both of them + castle great but if not i'll stick to the efreets).

Aye. But I dont always make it on impossible. The damn efreets want the mage guild, and cost some more money and resources, meaning you'd have to maintain an infernal pace of building, if you want to have it all by week 2.
(town hall-day1; gogos-day2; demons-day3; mage guild-day4; pit fiends-day5; efreets-day6; citadel-day7) which for me is impossible on impossible difficulty. (as i need extra hero(s), and the kennels preferably)

In my opinion impossible is not that good to play in multiplayer random. It's just too dependant on luck. What do you do if you're tower. That mage tower will kill you right there if you don't find all the resources on the map fast.

I just hate it when I get to start without level 2 building. With certain races it can make too big of a difference. That is the case with inferno, for example (who cares with rampart though ).

i haven't started with the second building already build in a long time. Maybe i'm just unlucky or maybe it's the template .

So yah who wouldn't like the seond creature dwelling not build especially if it provides decent troops and it's in your build order.

It's good for me either way, I just hate the randomness in it. It can decide the game. Starting things should not be this random (I do mean starting creatures too!).

Some noob emotions upon completing a single-player inferno map (Rise of a Dragon King):

How to kill 2000 fire elementals with a relatively large inferno army without any losses and earth spells? Use only devils: teleport out of their range in the beginning of the round, wait and attack after they have moved. No-retaliation rules. (The same trick works only with giants but they would run out of ammo against too big an enemy.)

And sacrifice! Although in the final battle I planned to sacrifice my 1k imps, the AI managed to impode them all, so the gogs had to go Couldn't have won without this spell.

Summoning fire elementals is also cool. However when I attacked a castle and won the battle (within the castle walls) having only the summoned elementals left, my hero disappeared (as expected). What was surprising though, the castle still belonged to the enemy and it showed there were still some creatures left. And I could not rehire the hero, hence reload.

BTW, demon farming is so cool. Get blind, meteor shower and clone (and diplo), and you can get two stacks of demons instead of one.

I haven't tested these on a large scale. Do you resurrect the cloned creature, or does it just disappear after it's dispelled? Also, how many times can a Pit Lord resurrect something per battle?

I agree with Csarmi on this one!On rich maps you can get devils+castle week 1,and all units except cerberi!Same goes for fortress, cos there when you don't have the second building prebuilt you may be forced to choose between hidras,gorgons or castle on day 7 and also you must wait another day for those wiverns.For Stronghold you also need the wolf riders in order to build the rocs,but in the end it's not that bad as you'll only lose the orcs or the ogres for the first week.Dungeon also suffers when 2nd level isn't prebuild:it may cost you your minotaurs or castle
 With Castle and Rampart it doesn't matter cos anyway you have other objectives week 1.
(angels/cavs+castle;unicorn+castle).
 Tower and Conflux are the hardest castles to start with as you need the upgrade for the first level units done day 1 and even if you have lvl dwelling prebuild,you cannot have lvl 7 units week 1 and a castle.As a matter a fact this isn't possible with Dungeon and Rampart eighter, but the elves and trogs+harpies+evil eyes do the job just fine.
  BTW:As this thread is about inferno i have one serious question and a funny thing:
-The serious question:what unit do you guys use to take the retaliation with?I always seem to loose some precious efrrets in fights cos i don't seem to have some fodder to take the retal with
The pit friends are too precious,the cerberi have no enemy retaliation and the imps&demons are just too slow to get to the spot.

-The funny thingid you noticed in the unit animation screen(the one present in your castle when you want to recruit units) that the pit friend stops for one moment and actually scratches his butt??I couldn't belive it at first,but in the end it was the only reason i could think of...Check it out for yourselves!

Doesn't this animation also display when you place the cursor on top of the Pit Fiend during combat? I've always thought it happens when you do that.
