I played Kings Bounty on the Amiga way back in 1990 and loved it.  I've played all the HoMM series since and for all its faults I'm grateful to Ubi and Nival for bringing back one of my all time favourite games.

I started playing King's Bounty (called simply "knight" by my father who knows only several words in english) when i was hmm... 6 or 7 old.
It's shame to say but i figured out all rules in King's Bounty 8 years later My father still likes playing this game.
Then i had a break with Heroes - i didn't play either HoMM I nor HoMM II - i rediscovered this series with HoMM III. I was goddamn amazed when i started to play it!
Then there was time of HoMM IV which i rate very high (i know - now i'll be damned and cursed by orthodox HoMM players ) - because i don't count it as continuation of HoMM III but as something different but just using series' name Then this game is something refreshing and changing ideas for turn based strategy.
Real sequel of HoMM III is of course HoMM V! It's great game but, as Doomforge said (or he said something similar), it has quality but lacks quantity - more towns, heroes, arifacts, neutrals! More, more, more!

I love HoMM series

And too many bugs and errors. At least there were not to many faults with the old games, not too many graphic cards.

Now, I am on the trace for old graphics related to Kings Bounty and the Heroes series. I'm taking screenshots in King's Bounty through screenthief, but the resolution is tiny when you look at them today.
Heroes 2 I actually like to play still. It was a reason that game was selected to follow the Collectors edition after all.

Oh yeah, I remember playing Heroes II when I was little. Of course, when I got one of those screens you get when you fail a mission, it scared me so much, I swore never to play it again. It was ironic too since I got the expansion pack for Christmas that year.

Thank goodness I got over that!

I love the Heroes series to death, but I haven't played all of them since I lost my Mac disc for Heroes I, and I'm still a little hesitant to play Heroes 4.

I still think that Heroes III was the best video game ever made, even better than Zelda: Ocarina of Time. (Now I'm gonna have lots of people throw bricks at me for that.)

Heroes 3 remains the best. All I wanted was that heroes 5 to be 100% the 3D version of the H 3. Don't get me wrong, the game is good, the fights are ok, the armies are super in design, but they lost a whole lot of armies. Where are you Azure Dragon?

I started with Heroes 2 around 1998 or 1999. From my first game I remember that my castle was the warlock castle and a stack of zombies joined my army during the first or second week. I guess playing Heroes with warlock first has made me prefer warlock even until today

Where are you Azure Dragon? Don't you mean WHERE ARE YOU SWAMP TOWN? *ahem* Heroes 3, around 2000. It was at a place somewhere, and ironically they lost it and I was forced to shift to H2, which, suprisingly (to me) turned out to be very good also.

My very first Heroes game was the one for PS2. It was like the kings bounty, pick the hero, wander around the world, do missions and such. I really didnt understand much of it (I was about 10-years old back then, and I was obsessed with my Final Fantasies), but it was the first I played from the Heroes-series.

When I compare myself with the others I feel like a newbie    I started to play HOMM about 3.5 years ago when someone gave me a pirate version of H3 RoE (En). Although IMHO the Queen of the strategic games is Sid Meir's Civilization (I play it since Civ I) I liked the climate etc. so "Google is my friend". Then I had found that a Polish editor, CD Project, was selling a Polish version of H3 Complete for 20 PLN (about 5 Euro) so I have bought it.

I had read contradictory opinions about H4 and about 2.5 years ago I had decided to give it a try (again, Polish version of H4 Complete). Unlike many of you I like it - perhaps because I am not a seasoned HOMM veteran and I played already patched version. Yes, some things are imbalanced (Combat skill, Necromancy etc.) but perhaps there is no such thing like a good *and* perfectly balanced game.

I have bought H5 as soon as it appeared in Poland and I also like it but I missed some features from H4 (flaggable watermills, caravans, moving creatures without heroes etc.). Some of them appeared in HoF but I decided to wait until H5 Complete.

Quite recently I have bought a Polish version of Heroes Chronicles (the first 4 campaigns) and they are nice but IMO nothing special.

Geeeezzz, that was a great time !
I was in 2nd class of primary school, when my mate invited me and showed homm3 demo version. That was a shock! Good Castle and Bad Necropolis...
Geeezz, i thought, needa buy this game. And so I did. I was the first dud, who had this game in my class. Simply everyone was trying to borrow it from me.
By the way, that dayz, I had much more time for me to play homm. Now I kill some dudz and have to study O_O! Duh!
Geeezz, that game really brigs back good timez ...
At first, wee were all playing necropolis (raise skelies ofc) and Castle. Loved Vampire Lords, Archliches, Crusadres and Zealots (dk why).
Then I started trying with others and fell in love with Rampart . I couldn't stop singing its theme!!!
One of my mates (that who had demo) started playing Dungoen, and second one didin't change his mind and played Castle.
Waaaaah!!!
I want this time to come back!!!!!!

i cant believe it was 10 years ago i  remember as it was yesterday. me and my friend were playing fifa97 and suddenly after another game my friend say" i got new game - you will like it" i didnt want to stop playing fifa but it was his computer and he decided it was Heroes2 of course when we started playing game i stopped complaint since then we played many games in H2,H3,H4(only one -first ;p ) and some H5.
For me H2 is simply the funniest.i love vampires with their " blah" zombies with flies , Titans , Black Dragons... H3 is better technically but dont have such atmosphere. At the beginning i didnt like graphic in H3, couldn`t get used to.
H5 is nice , but it`s really slow.To load  a map you have to wait more than minute, every action need more time than H3 ( it`s not about PC ), thats why i play online very rarely  . Pity :/
