Forgive the noobishness, but what do attack and defense actually do?

All is forgiven.
Easiest way to explain it is to say attack is a modifier to increase damage and defense is a modifier against it.
So like. if a creature has 5 attack and 5-10 damage and hes attacking a creature with 10 defense he will do 2.5-5 damage instead. I may have gotten the amount wrong but thats the basic idea really.
And if a creature has 5-10 damage and 10 attack and the enemy has 5 defense he will do 10-20 damage.

To put in a simple but inaccurate way, when a creature attacks another, attack of the attacker and defense of the target are compared and affect the damage done. If attack is higher than defense, damage is increased by about 5% per point. If defense is higher than attack, damage is lowered by about 5% per point.
In combat, both values are for every creature: base creature value + hero stat (+ specialisation or artifact boni, where applicable).
That is to say, peasants (1/1) led by Ellaine at level one (1/2, plus 1/1 from speciality) will have an attack value of 3 and a defense value of 4 in combat. Against a neutral stack of peasants, they would deal 10% more damage and take 15% less as a result.

The tear of asha help !!
Ok i am copying and pasting my message in the other thread...
Does someone know a map that when you find a the "tear of asha"
and you return to your castle.. you can continue your game!
i meen a map that the adjective is to "defeat all" and you can find the "tear of asha". (can you give me a name of the map)
second
is their a map the you can buy evreything including a ship yard and the tear of asha!!
(give mt the name of the map)

there are a lot more spells u can cast with mark of the wizard, basically any single target spell can usefully sum it up......
ice bolt, lightning bolt, fist of wrath, slow, haste, implosion....
u get the point...AoE spells do not hit 2 different units and do not double effect if casted on the unit marked. also - while casting on a unit not marked, this will use double mana as well(same as casting 2 separate times)

In late gaming, i looks like this ability is no longer needed to use, because you gain in time lots of units, new strong spells and the ability almost forgotten.

When you bild the Tear of Asha bilding you win the game the game and the map ends and you can bild a ship yard only when your castel is near the sea.

Can someone help explain to me: how does movement point work? Now with War Path perk, it says you get additional 100 movement points. I think I never read that in the manual, so how does it work? How many points for moving straight, diagonal, harder terrain etc?

actually, in the skill wheel its corrected to be 350 movement, and it seems to be about right.
Edit: the base cost is so high to make things more accurate depending on terrain. Roads cost only 75% afaik, rough terrain can be up to 50% more, and diagonal movement is 141 points. Then there are other factors like logistic, pathfinder, artifacts or hero specialisations.

this is my first map, its not perfect and it have alot of spelling mesteiks so please dont point and Laugh but you can continue plaing after you find the tear of asha .
the file name is New but the map name is The Last Tear
