Boycott Microsoft!
Do not buy Windows XP!
The new "Product Activation" is just the beginning. Soon, more such features will follow. And if you keep feeding the beast... one day you are gonna wake up and realize that you have become a Microserf.
Here's something about Microsoft's new brainchild:
http://www.arachnoid.com/boycott/index.html
And here's what users think about Windows "XPerience": http://www.cnet.com/software/0-806340-1204-6534881.html

Here's advice from my bro:
If you're concerned about activation, what you can do is buy the software, but also download the ISO, which removes activation. I don't really consider that illegal since you bought a legit copy. When you install, use the ISO. Perfectly fine. No activation. Keep the legit copy for show.
If you continue to boycott MS products you will never install another new OS ever again. Every Office and Windows of theirs from now will require activation, so if you boycott them you will be stuck with Windows 98/Me/2000 forever.. I used Win98 for THREE DAMN YEARS!! I really don't want to use Win98 for any much longer (much less eternity), so I switched to XP..

I've never understood the irrational hatred many people have for Microsoft, or for that matter the extreme devotion some people have for the Macintosh. I'm not saying Microsoft doesn't have it's significant problems or that the Mac isn't a perfectly good computer. But some people are just so mindlessly devoted to their cause, that they make the average religious zealot look rational. It's like they identify themselves as anti-microsoft people and that's the most important part of their lives. If these people could spend some of that energy acomplishing something good in the world, the world might be a better place.

Finally microsoft screwd up (I think). With this new stupid adition (product activation) users will now turn to other SO (Linux comes to mind) because Linux is becoming a very user friendly SO (soon it will be has good has windows) adn it is free and you don't have to "activate" it or crack it in order to use it.
P.S.-I'm not a anti microsoft user, I even think they make great joysticks

irrational hatred?
Do you really believe that, niteshade? Only because I posted a spirited anti-Win XP topic you have concluded that I am an irrational fanatic and I have dedicated my life to work against Microsoft and nothing else? I hope you realize how rediculous your statement is. As for Product Activation, you obviously do not understand what it represents. I didn't mind Windows 98 and Windows 2000 and Windows ME except that they should have served as patches to Windows 95, making it actually stable, but Win XP has made a qualitative step forward, giving Microsoft actual power over your computer. They can shut it down, or keep it going if you conform. As I said, this is just the beginning. They are gonna work on this feature a lot more.
And here's my conclusion:
"The reasonable man adopts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man."

Is not the quality of their products...
what I hate from Microsoft. In fact, I like a lot some of them. For instance, if you think MSWord is a bad product just tell me a wordprocessor capable to do better half of the things it can do. But that's not the matter of this discussion. What I and a lot of people hate is that permanent interest in being the "Big Brother" of the world. It exceeds the limits of commercial greed.
If the people of MS will concentrate only in improving their products, do you think the competence could stand a chance? But they are continuonsly trying to control the Internet, to know and behold all that happens there, and what most people likes of the net is that it's a free place...

In form 7 I did a research about people's opinion about Bill Gates, some of you might remember filling out a questionaire. I found that:
1) The disaffection towards Bill Gates is inversely proportional to age of a person (the older they are the less they hate him).
2) Disaffection towards Bill Gates is proportional with opinion about Microsoft products (duh)
3) Disaffection towards Bill Gates is inversely proportional with the opinion about your own computer or your wealth (the two are co-related I assumed). Meaning that the more you hate your computer, the more you hate Bill Gates. And yes, I have the statistical evidence and the graph for this

I can't believe you guys would bag something that you've all used at one point in your life and without grievance.
You're all sad anti social computer geeks who don't like rich companies and rich people. I use Microsoft products because I trust them. There is so much more riding on the sucess of a particular product than there would be on the success of something as teeny weeny as Linux (which I've never heard of by the way). Microsoft products are meant to be as user friendly as possible all across the world. That's how they have become so successful. Don't type up hateful rhetoric on a company that's almost single handedly taken the whole world forward by fifty years in a decade. Why don't you hate Ford? Maybe you do. Maybe, just as Val said, your spite comes from something deeper within your own past or psyche. I don't hate Bill Gates. He was just like us once. And Microsoft? Well they became so impossibly big for a very good reason.
Their product sells. Over and over and over again. If it didn't work, Microsoft would NOT be here.

Simple game...
Microsoft is the software business.
There isn't really competition.
So...
Microsoft is MONOPOLY.
Simple truth that microsoft products suck. I hate when my program collapses before it even really starts.
However as I said there isn't really tough competition and Linux is far away from it.
I could hate Bill gates...but....
"I never let anyone degrade my soul by making me to hate him"
-Booker Washington
He is just one who has grew up with computer business and is making money like trash. People are envy and also hate him because they MUST use his companies products. Microsoft is everywhere. Just like Macdonalds.
Prepare to see more companies like Microsoft in the future. Because people are stupid and are going to buy which is easiest and quickest way.

Word editing..

hm, let me see... KWord, Kate, TeX, StarOffice...
BTW: I looove my LiNUX box... I still hate M$...
...about games: thanx to Loki, a lot of great games (Heroes 3 is one of them) were ported in LiNUX... my fave geek, John Carmack, said tht the next games of ID will be for LiNUX as well as for WinDo$ or MacOS... the tides are changing... with XP, M$ made the biggest mistake ever possible...
...now, either piracy will thrive, or people will turn to LiNUX... I don't see any other possibility... why pay a fortune to install XP on both my laptop ad desktop when I can just buy (or d/l) a LiNUX distribution for peanuts..

Shae .. telling us that you've never even heard of Linux makes the rest of your posts on this subject obsolete since your obviously unaware of this "proces".
And as for XP just get a pirate version with crack registration and you'll be OK.
This security option form our friends of MS is already bypassed!

I don't know all that much about computers. I'm computer illiterate, lol.
I guess my arguments are one sided, but hell I don't have to be a Linux user to know that Windows does the job nicely for me and it's all I need. Please tell me Hexa, how much better is Linux? Oh yes, and what the hell is it?
PS: I don't have to drive a Ford to know that they're crap buckets either, lol.
