unit description
1.halfings
This tiny humans have never really enjoyed the presence of their larger kin so they retreated into the mountains. Although not fond of the presence of the trading cities they will ally with them in case enemy troops try to invade their homeland and will act as the first line of defence. Also their slings can throw sharp rocks that can especially hurt large targets.
2. city guards
Seasoned veterans of siege warfare this troops are the cities main line of defence. Their armour is almoust impenetrable and their sense of duty never lets them loose heart.
3.pikemen/haleberdiers
When fighting the empire as often as the cities have on various skirmishes it became apparent that a method had to be found to counter the charge of the heavy cavalry, thus the pikemen/haleberdiers troops were born.Their long sharp weapons is ideal for stopping a charge and also allows them to attack first.
4.giant falcon\roc
Once the symbol of the legendary Falcon Empire, these creatures were left behind, their place being taken over by griffins. To the ones who are still loyal to them(the cities) these creatures use their agility and strength to protect them at all costs.
the rest coming soon...

Not a bad start, it lacks depth at the moment but is surely has potential. Keep up the good work, just don't expect something like this in the near future.

5.Trolls
Trolls are large creatures that live in the mountain caves high near the southeast mountains peaks. They hurl huge stones at invaders and also possess incredible regeneration abilities. Since they share the mountains with the cities they also share their enemies.
6. Pegasus Riders
No one really knows about the origin of these magnificent creatures. Some say that they are Sylath's gift to his true whorshippers. Only the greatest warriors are allowed to mount them. Their swift and ruthless raids bring doom and despair among their enemies, also this troops seem to always have luck on their side.
7.Air/Sky dragons
The children of Sylath share his traits and cunningness. There is no creature faster or swifter than these dragons,therefore they always have the upper hand on their enemies which allows them to attack first, also due to obvious reasons they are immune to air magic.

Well, there are many variations to the free cities of the east, but eventually the producers chose the most unpredictable direction, which is very original.
Anyway, nice creatures line up.
I don't think that Halfling fit well there. The "triditional" pick for 1st level creature in this kind of faction will be Goblin, ofcourse. You can either use it or find other original creature.

What do you mean, GL?
The orcs are not the free cities of the East if that's what you think.
The free cities are humans who were driven out of the Falcon/Griffin Empire because they didn't want to worship Elrath instead of Sylath.

I know that.
Look at Ashan map. The orcs (of TotE) populate the free cities of the east.

Somehow I doubt that. The free cities were founded by humans and humans never really liked orcs and the orcs returned their feelings. So when the orcs fled from the silver cities they hid themselves in the Ranaar wasteland - a harsh land where no humans wanted to live.
If you look at the map of Ashan you'll see a barbaric hut in Ranaar and to the south a big city called Stonehelm. Stonehelm is most probably the capital of the free cities.
watcher, I'm sorry for the slight off-topic discussion, maybe you could clarify things a bit.

I meant the Free Cities (my mistake - taken care of it)
Stonehelm is the capital of the Free cities of the East. Stonehelm and probably all the other trade cities can be found in the southeast mountains. The cities were founded by the human exiles who didn't want to change their faith in Sylath like the empire did.
North and east of this mountains lies the steppes of Ranaar where the orcs live.
Hope I've clarified things a bit.
Don't you agree?

In order not to make another thread, pretty soon I'm gonna make some changes considering that the Free Cities seem involved in slave markets and demon worshipping (at least some of them); so they need a rather darker approach.

core philosophy: more money, more power

The cities were founded by the human exiles who remained faithfull to Sylath. North and east of this mountains lie the steppes of Ranaar where the orcs live)
description: a conglomerate of trade guilds and towns in the mountains; money is the key word, doesn't matter how you make it - trade, theft, slave markets, information - ; low numbers which is balanced by the fact that in narrow mountain passes, where the cities are, numbers don't matter much; every guild has it's ruler, they form the high council which oversees all the activities within the Free Cities; the wealthiest person from a guild is the ruler, it is not hereditary and if someone gains more wealth it will replace the current ruler (that seldom happens because the high council takes great care of its members wealth); no official aliies and no official enemies (although they dislike the Holy Griffin Empire for its betrayal of Sylath); unknown to many demons have a strong "base" within the cities because of the many human demonologists who have key roles in the society; orcs hate them because of the slavemarkets which are full of captured orcs;

Wielding two swords they throw themselves in the heat of battle to bring swift retribution against the guild's oppressors
2.a. Harpie (flyer) 2att;2def;1-4dam;8init;7sp;10hp
Out of all the wizards experiments, these are by far the most vile of them all. The winged creatures upon their eliberation nested on the peaks of the southeastern mountains. While they have no love for the Free Cities it's obvious that since they share the mountains they also share the enemies of their lands.
2.b. Harpie Hag (flyer, eat corpse) 2att;3def;3-4dam;8init;7sp;15hp
These vile creatures can eat the corpse of their enemy to regain lost health.

When fighting the empire as often as the cities have on various skirmishes it became apparent that a method had to be found to counter the charge of the heavy cavalry, thus the pikemen troops were born. Their long sharp weapons is ideal for stopping a charge and also allows them to attack first.
3.b. Spearman (first strike, spear wall) 1att;6def;1-3dam;6init;

3.c. Haleberdier (first strike, block) 3att;6def;1-3dam;6init;
5sp;35hp

The wounds left by these falcons never heal as the silver slowly poisons their blood.
4.c.Roc (large creature, flyer, hardskin, assault) 6att;9def;
5-10dam;17init;9sp;45hp
These birds are a rare sight indeed, scouring the mountains from high up in the heavens the plunge against any who would dare upset the tranquility of their home.
5.a.Troll (ranged, large creature) 15att;10def;10-20dam;8init;
5sp;70hp
Trolls are large creatures that live in the mountain caves high near the southeast mountains peaks. They hurl huge stones at invaders. They are very common in the slavemarkets of the Free Cities and in times of war their "talents" are used.
5.b. Cave Troll (large creature, enraged, regeneration, aura of fear)
20att;10def;10-20dam;8init;5sp;70hp
Unlike their relatives they prefer to pound their enemies with their bare hands. They are an awesome sight and enemies tend to runaway from their path. They also seem to possess incredible regeneration abilities.
5.c. Mountain Troll (ranged, large creature, enraged)
15att;15def;10-20dam;8init;5sp;75hp
The sign of their presence on the battle field is a rain of boulders.
At this point most are thinking of fleeing, but unfortunately for them it's too late.
6.a. Pegasus Rider (large creature, flyer, no retaliation)
20att;22def;20-35dam;15init;7sp;80hp
No one really knows about the origins of these magnificent creatures. Some say that they are Sylath's gift to his true whorshippers. Only the greatest warriors are allowed to mount them. Their swift and ruthless raids bring doom and despair among their enemies.
6.b. Dark Pegasus Rider (large creature, flyer, no retaliation, sorrow strike) 22att;22def;20-40dam;15init;8sp;85hp

Few have lived to tell the story of their encounter with a sky fury batallion; and those who have can't talk about it because everything happened too fast.
7.a. Air Dragon (flyer, large creature, immune to air)
25att;25def;30-40dam;21init;15sp;180hp

first strike) 30att;24de;35-40dam;25init;20sp;180hp

7.c. Azure Dragon (flyer, large creature, immune to air, additional lightning damage) 22 att; 30def;30-35dam;21init; 15sp; 200hp
Because of Sylath's blessing these dragons can use the power of storms to inflict additional lightning damage on their enemies.
