I don't know if you've already completed the Stronghold campaign, but let me put it this way: after that freak show from Biara, Alaric doesn't have them all together, anymore.

I am also referring to the scene where he finally meets Gotai. He says something about offering the head of that "Demon" (he means Gotai) in hopes that Isabel turns back into an Angel again. Or if that could work.
Poor Alaric ... hard to hate him that way, it's better to feel pity.

Guarder is right, Alaric did appear in the "Hot Pursuit" single scenario in the original version. He was an archer, assumedly before he joined the priesthood or something.

Alaric claims that Khengi is a demon and needs to be slain. He yells for his troops to slay the demon. Archers take aim and bring down the muppet. Gotai gets pissed off as a result, and summons his troops. They slay the Haven renegades and Gotai slays Alaric in a charge on his mount.

*SPOILER*
I'm not going to talk about the first mission. If you haven't finished by now then its sad.
Key terms:
Izzie = Isabell Greyhound
HGE = Holy Griffin Empire
NECROMANCER
Geovanni is in Heresh, training his aprentice, Ornella. She's cute and has an iritating accent. He's a total suckup. He orders her to capture some citadel as a gift to the Necromancer Arantir, who uptil now was a bookworm. However, he now is going around "Uniting" Heresh by force. Ornella does the Dirty Work while Geovanni Teleports around offering helpful suggestions. Why he couldn't have just Teleported Ornella past obstacles we'll never know. Anyway, in the end she captures the Citadel, and in return she becomes a death knight, courtesy of Arantir. While Ornella is undying, Geovanni tries to Assasinate Arantir. He fails, and Arantir kills him. Ornella cleverly sucks up at the right moment, and Arantir makes her his sidekick.
They go around uniting Heresh and learning more about the events that we already knew about. A bunch of wizards are in league with a demon cultist by the name of Orlando, and the name Menalag gets thrown around. If you don't know what happened in Dark Messiah, you will get confused quickly. Arantir and Ornella go chasing after Orlando, and trace the source of the demonicness to its source: Flamschrine, in the HGE.
Along the way Arantir meets up with Kujin, who saw him in an omen in the form of a spider. They ally, since they have so much in common. Actually they do: They hate demons and humans, and are completely obsessed with bones. Arantir finds out about the whole thing where Izzie gave birth to a Demon, who is going to try to destroy the world (In Dark Messiah)
Arantir also has to kill 4 necromancers in order to get to Flamschrine, including Ornella. She dies, and everyone is sad. Aranitr, it turns out, actually cared for her, and gets really angry. Orlando dies soon afterwards.
At the end (In an awesome cutscene) Arantir enters Flamschrine, pwns a pair of Devils without breaking a sweat, and speaks to the Spirit of Izzie, who is somehow not in her body. She actually has some emotion, yay! After sending her back to her body he dispells the illusion on Biara. She gets annoyed, but decides to summon a bunch of Demons and have them attack Talonguard (where she is) You'll find out more about what happens with that later. Arantir decides to go off and stop the Demon Messiah, instead of helping out with Biara.
ORC
You know how in the previous game, HOF, all you did was beat up on Demons? In this game, all you do is beat up on Haven Troops.
Gotai was chosen as Khan by Quroq as he lay dying, and Gotai is worried that he is too young to be accepted by the others as a Khan. In order to prove himself, Gotai must go around killing a bunch of units in order to collect 1000 heads. Kujin, the sexy Shamaness who wears even less than Yalya, helps him cheat in order to win. He does. They split up: Gotai takes troops to get vengance on the HGE, and Kujin to rally troops.
She gets the aid of four Cheifs, after going through a bunch of pirates and other stuff. (Somehow Dark Elves got all the way out there...)
Gotai, in the next mission, destroys a bunch of Haven property, and his sidekick Khengi gives helpful information. This is one of the missions from the Demo.
Kujin has gone to meet Gotai with troops, but must first go through a bunch of annoying Oracles.
"If you are wise enough, you will be able to pass through the gateway, but beware, if you are not wise the Spirits of the place will destroy you."
"What? In other words, Elementals will test my wisdom at a portal."
She portals around a bit, but in the end she finnaly makes it to the road to meet Gotai. Did I mention that I really don't like Oracles?
Gotai wants to touch the grave of Kunyak, the first Orc to do so in forever. He smashes a lot of Academies, and they fail to not die.
Meanwhile, Alaric finnaly find out that Biara is a demon. It has been quoted above, so I won't go into details. He runs off, screaming that he is, "the BLOODY RED LIGHT!!!!" and comes to attack Gotai. Since Gotai has been wanting his head for the whole campaign, he wastes no time attacking him. Gotai offers single combat to Alaric as a last bid for honor, but Alaric is completely insane, and kills Kengi. Gotai gets angry, and attacks him. He dies (at last!!!)
ACADEMY
Zehirs back, and spends a lot of time being geeky yet funny, and yelling at Narxes. He teams up with Gotai, finds out about Izzie, and goes off to help, pwning some Dark Elves of the Shadowbrand clan on the way. Yalya shows up for about three lines.
Zehir gets to the HGE and fights a Red Knight. The Red Knight loses all but the formidable stack of inquisitors, and summons demons. The Inquisitors turn and fight them. After that, they help Zehir
-Find a Tear of Asha
-Get other preists for a ritual
-Teleport his city to that point
Their ritual unveils all the Demons. Duncan and Freyda show up, and are funny:
"Forgive her, war has made her manners not so good."
"Duncan, sometimes you remind me of my mother."
"Clearly she didn't spank you enough."
"Um, hello! Can we discuss how to Destroy Biara?"
Duncan and Freyda Pwn a few Infernos, and Zehir runs off to mission 3.
Zehir meets up with Wulfstan, and they go looking for Arkath's sacred grove thingy. When they get there, Zehir kills Rolf (YES!!) and they meet the Avatar of Arkath, which is a REALLY big Magma Dragon. Arkath yells at Hvangul, Promises to return to aid the Dwarves once again, and makes Wulfstan king. Poor Wulfstan.
In the final scenario, Zehir must clear a huge map with lots of stuff on it, and every once in a while other characters attack Inferos under the ground. At last you get to seige Talonguard, the place where it all began, with the help of Archangels, Black Dragons, Cyclops, and Magma Dragons. "Angels, Cyclops, and Dragons, oh my!" -Zehir. You take Talonguard, and it is over.
Everyone Pwns on Biaras armies, and eventually you confront her outside the gates. Izzie kills her after they all waffle a bit. Wulfstan and Gotai say that they like eachother in the following conversation. Meanwhile, Izzie Abdicates, and Freyda decides to marry Duncan and become queen. She wants to hurry up with the mairrage so he can go home and take his sense of humor with him. Sadly Kujin does not say much, which is a shame because she is funny. Everyone lives happily ever after, except Biara, Alaric, Rolf, Geovanni, Ornella, Godric, Markal, Khengi, and Tieru. And all the units you have lost over the course of the games.
DARK MESSIAH
Arantir tries to permenantly seal the demons in their prison using the Skull of the 7th Dragon. And the souls of an entire city. However, Izzie's Son, Sareth, the Dark Messiah, decides to kill him instead. He releases the Demon sovreign and takes over the world. Nice job, Arantir.
Well, that's what happened. I'll have pictures up soon.
:About Ornella's Accent: Does anyone else think she sounds like Carol Chenning?
:Zehir does not belive in the Dragon Gods. How do you think he reacted to seeing Arkath's Avatar?

Whenever did saying you like someone become gay? Sheesh..
About the dark messiah Arantir's plan was to destroy the souls of a whole city to seal the demons so he wasn't all that goody-goody. He failed to stop Sareth but what happened afterwards is not known, not canonically anyway. I'll admit that I expected him to be more powerful but it was a good battle - had a version of stone skin, destructive spells and summoning skeletal pao kais if I remember correctly.
I still am not sure I can comprehend how a few weeks ago inexperienced warrior/mage managed to become so strong as to beat Arantir but since it happens in all rpgs I can't object much...Especially when in the beginning he can kill you with one move of his hands.

You're right, I'll edit.
Also, I think Sareth was really drained. The energies he was channeling were so powerful, he probobally was distracted. Also, if his Avatar of Death dies in combat, he looses mana. You have to take it down 3 times or so, so Arantir is weakened by his own spell.

Does Arantir actually die in Dark Messiah or not? I read a few internet strategy guides and they all say you kill him, but he somehow resurrects himself. After that all it says is "after he is defeated"... no mention of death.
Also we don't know that Sareth released Kha-Beleth, it's currently a four-way ending.

Same here, though that doesn't mean we're allowed to pretend that it's ironclad canon.
Plus wouldn't Xana's ending be more evil?

No. Xana lives and is rewarded. Leanna dies in pain (or is hurt)
My personal view is that Pain is evil. Not death, not demons, not Hitler. Pain is the evil thing. Demons/death/hitler are just a vessel for Evil's Will.
Thus Leanna's pain is more evil.

I personally feel Leanna's pain is more evil when you allow her to die a horrible death, end up reanimated by the Necromancers and reduced to a walking corpse, then causing her to die a second horrible death by your own sword. Thus allowing you to finish the game with Xana.
