Oh my, here goes "The Great Gunpowder War" again. We've had like a huge debate over gunpowder in heroes some time ago. It was a stalemate, and if the result is any testament to Ubival's Development team, gumpowder will most likely not enter into Heroes due to controversy.

OMG! You really want another world done over and, is starting from early settling of tribes of over 2000 years ago! And, to keep it TBS on top of that! How unimaginative!
This is really getting repetitive and, these scripted storylines are drying out into nothing interesting anymore. Might as well make a huge "Young and the Restless" Script while we're all at it.

You people fail to realize two things:
1. The Forge was very futuristic. Gunpowder isn't.
2. Gunpowder is already in the game. Gremlins?

Not technically Gunpoweder, more like a spell. Sortof a controlled telekinetic burst. The smoke is just inscense.
I'd be okay with perhaps one more unit like this in the Academy (hopefully just as an upgrade, or a special (Summon, Campaign only creature, aligned neutral)) but anymore is not so good. gunpoweder evenually leads to rendering other weapons rather obsolete, if not in H6 in H7. And seriously, you can't have a fantasy game without mystic artifacts, and you also can't have..."Armegedon's AK47" or "The Phaser of Frost" or whatever. It's just not right!
Besides, who needs gunpoweder when you can just Magic Arrow people?

I think that "explosive spells" really means "gunpowder", but they didn't want to go and say it.
But the one bad thing about gunpowder is you'd have a town with nothing but ranged units.

Old Fart's PC strategy game?
Please, do not remind me of my upcoming birthday. 40 years old.
If this game continues its rantings of being strictly medieval ages bound fantasy type, you will lose a lot of youngsters into this, now, aging franchise. These youngsters just see the TBS mention on the back of packaging and they are bound to reject it by saying: "TBS? what a bogus game that could be. Hey man, look at this piece of ancient history-like crap game" and, the other kid says: "Wow, these still exist! I wonder if gramps would like one of those. TBS, man, that must suck big time."
I would really not like to be discovered playing one those games and, noticing how old I am. I do have gray hair, even though I still have plenty of brown hair. I am really starting to act old when I get to go out rather to go to work or to shop around.
People around here, are, really hooked on video gaming consoles, not the PC. PC independent resellers are all but out of business up here in Ottawa, Canada. Only the large chains of electronic superstores are still having a lot of sales in their little section of each of these. They are mainly selling Audio-Video devices with all of their connections' accessories. Entire aisles of DVD movies and CD based music albums.
I really hate to see the kids reliving my childhood life all over again(1970's and 1980's). What the heck is going on with this world of ours, anyway? Going backwards instead of forward. Even video game arcades ceased to exist by Fall of 2001(7 years ago). I was only 33 at that time.

Tell that to Might and Magic VII.
Can't and never will understand the major objection to gunpowder / sci-fi when nobody's ever even seen it in action. Yeah, if it fails and causes huge alienation then go ahead and say it's unsuitable, but nobody's given it a chance. Yet looking at the Might and Magic games it's obvious that a little mingling of both elements can produce really quality stuff.

Personally I am unsure. It would probably feel strange among the other factions yet I am not as opposed to it as I once was. My reasoning is whether the majority of the people would want it and if not whether ubi would dare take that risk.

Anyone play Arcanum? I have begun that game and I think the mix works fine.
My problem with MM rpgs isn't the story elements it's the grinding addictive though it can be.

I played Arcanum through to the end. Heck, the Heavenly Forge itself practically makes an appearance towards the end (Vendigroth). And I didn't hear anyone complaining.

That's exactly what I was talking about for the past few years.
But, I wouldn't go that far though. Freed up people of the Capitol(elected federal government)'s era would bring to the light of offering to build a major factory for building such military equipment. As for the Haven Capital and, when the Troops training academy is built, another upgrade to it would be implemented for training the existing troops to become musketeers(mainly for the marksman and crossbowman).
The newest proposal of mine was: once all of main capital's territory is cleared up of all neutrals, automation of the people's natural growth could occur if, the two or three enemy towns/cities are in your current possession through successful invasions. And, the prerequisites are also met: Capitol must be built. So, that also means that, most of the Tiny and Small maps will probably never see any of the sort. That would automatically promote the players at playing rather Medium/Normal or Large maps.
Just think of it: Troops caravans transformed into mobilized troops transports instead of those horses pulled wagons that could take a whole week to send to the battle frontlines of the newest conquered town/city.
Just this puny example could cut off several hours of gameplay in a single game/real earth day.
I forgot that: RTS would be implemented. Not RPG what-so-ever.
