Quote: As SBlister said: They believe in shalassa. But they are actully indian creatures (Or from africa, Wiki says both places) so they would fit in Academy fine, but I like that Nival actully thought different. But Wiki actully said this: "In India, nâga are depicted as subterranean and as an opponent to the eagle-like Garuda" !! As Subterreanean. That could be underwater or under earth ground. So in those big clouds they wouldn't fit.
Naga in Indian mythology are water creatures. they look like cobras but can transform into either half human, half cobras with many hands or turn completely human if they want to mingle with humans. Their cities are all underwater and they are benevolent creatures but fiercely territorial, they hate intruders and will attack on sight.
There is one story where a naga prince named Iravan took the form of a multiheaded colossal serpent creature to attack enemy troops(bad guys). The bad guys had a shape shifting rakshasa on their side who took the form of a garuda, picked up a sword in its talons and swooped down towards the naga. At the last minute, he transformed back into a rakshasa and decapitated the naga's main head, killing him.

@SBlister & emilsn: Nice posts guys, very enlightening indeed. It all make sense to me now why Naga no longer belongs to Academy. Crawling creatures in skyscraper dwellings doesn't seem fit Maybe when they're revived (in H6?) they could be given first-strike ability like Preparation, given their attitude toward intruders as you described. Just a thought.
The shapeshifting ability sounds interesting and innovative isn't it?

The unit I miss most is the petrifying Medusa from heroes 4.(which was pretty much like the mighty gorgon from h3, but I like medusas better)
A low level unit, the bane of High level ones and heroes alike...
It could be fun to have in an aquatic town along with Nagas and some other scaly serpent people

still like neutral genies from H2, making them a dwelling in H3 was stupid but as neutrals they were good. and im wondering have most ppl who actually make posts on here started on H3?, cause everyone refers to "back in H3" basically. obviously H1 original is beginning but H2 is the monument keystone of the entire heroes series, seriously.

Hmm... heard HoMM 2 and even HoMM 1 praised as the best of the series. However, personally I've not played either. What I do see is that HoMM V has borrowed a lot from HoMM III, which is why I feel that game to be a good reference.
Regarding the units themselves, then I feel that the best reason to make a unit "neutral" is because it is either too weak or too strong. HoMM V Djinn is not exceptionally strong and fits thus nicely with Academy. The HoMM IV-Djinn is however a different matter.

Im not sure if either dont have Hof Or TotE? Because they are in the game, as neutrals ofcourse...
And as said before, many times actully on other treads, the roc/thunderbird has been replaced by: Wyvern, Pao kai. I know not the same but still, same abilities(allmost).. So they are in the game.
