Okay, there are sun Gods, and Moon Gods, and Gods for many other things.
But this is different then to what Greeks have, or Egyptians.
You see, Greeks have Gods, but some of them are for War, and some of them Fight.
This is why I think that the Greeks, and also the Egyptians are in the game, and not the Asians because they do not really have God's that fight, not like the Greeks do anyway.
Happy?

Greek/Roman variants are undoubtedly one of the richer and more popular types of mythology known to us, but I'm sure many others can play a role in such a game if some research is done. And since historical accuracy doesn't need to be perfect in this series, there's a lot of room for creativity in how to turn such myths into something accessible for players.
As we are on the topic of Asian civilizations, I should cite Throne of Darkness and especially Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom as good examples of Asian mythology in games. As AoM deals with a lot of dieties and their interactivity with their civilizations, the developers will need to research a lot about the various Asian gods and find ways to game-ify these myths. It needn't follow the same god-bashes-other-god approach like in Greek tales, but there's a rich expanse of possibilities that can work. I certainly imagine this to be possible.
I personally don't care if they skipped Asia, but what they do choose needs to be good.

I think they should keep the four factions and add 2 more; just as long as the game is balanced and the factions look and play different it's okay

I like the idea of having Civilization pairs: 2 cultures from the same general area:
Greek/Altantean
Norse/Slavic+Celtic
Egyptian/Persian+Arabian
Also, I think Asian mythology would not work so well. They're too far away, solving the issue of how they got connected up would be difficult at best, and there's all that space in the middle, which would have people with their own mythology.
For the Celtic/Slavic group:
The most important unit is the Druid. He/She has various abilities: Heal, Summon Thunder, Call Forth Dryads(Dendroids), and Telekenisis. They are granted, in that order, with each new age entered. Building more trees in an area designated as "The Sacred Grove" helps Druids recharge abilities faster. (With only a few trees, Telekenisis would take a minute or so, but with more it takes perahps 20 seconds.
In terms of stats, they are a little less powerful than Pharohs in the original game.
More on Myth Units coming soon!

actually, it would make more sense if the greeks were against the romans.

come on, they got to Egypt using an underworld passage and got from the norse lands to Alantis by using sky passages.

Im just curious but, is there any "real" Age of Mythology 2 comming?
I thnk these factions would be good:
Greek
Egypt
Norse
Chinese/Japanese
and for the two exapanions:
Aztec and Native (north) Americans.
I would love to see an aztec faction with Quotls etc/giant snakes etc and an chinese/indian/japanse with nagas etc.
Maybe Atlantean too.

We know nothing about it coming out, but the game is young, and the bells of victory are still sounding.

The one reason I want the Slavics and Eastern Europe is the whole Transylvania Vlad Drakula thing. Having just a "neutral" group of unique units like vampiric stuff and darkness creatures would be the icing on my cake.
P.S.- "Chickens?!! No!! Not the Chickens!!!

Technically its Vlad Draculea. And yes, I thought he would be either a Mythic Age hero uniy who can summon tamed wolves, turn into a bat, and has life drain.
Have you actually read Dracula? Awesome book.
CLASSICAL AGE:
Myth units:
-Veela
-Kelpie
-Tomte
HEROIC AGE:
Myth Units
-Vampire
-Werewolf

I have not read Dracula yet, but I do have it. Will start it ASAP
Anyway, to help this, Vlad was an impaler, so what about some beast that Impales called the Impaler. Or, although not completly Transylvanian, werewolves. Its Anglo-Saxon, but still. Ummm...A Tyrant _____ well thats cool. Vlad was a tyrant to most, but I consider him to be merely "authoritarian". I'm blank, any other ideas?

Well, Xerox, you are correct. But, what else would called a Vampiric Walf if not mythical? Indeed, AoM is based of texts describing gods and heroes with their quests, but most of those creautres were folklore, and were paired with gods that had nothing to do with them. I.e., the Cyclops. They're the children of Poseidon, not Ares. And the Minotaur? Well, Hera made the bull that birthed it.
Oh and Daystar. Nice new avatar.

Yes maybe the gods where switched but its still mythology!
Vampires are not in any real mythology as far as i know.
And Vampires etc om Age of Mytholgoy would suck and it would be a bad game.
I cant see an creature like an garden gnome or an vampire in it.
